Reflections and Perceptions

Reflections and Perceptions

BY Joshua Otieno Angasa

I hope our daughters will love me
as much as you guys love your Aabo.
That sentence-simple, but it lingers
like a shadow at golden hour,
soft, honest, unfiltered.

See, I stare at mirrors and moments,
trying to trace the outlines of a father
I’ve never met-yet somehow must become.
Trying to shape love from echoes,
build trust

Perceptions

Judgments based on one's perception.
Others are a mirror of one's self
Reflections in the mirror are captured by one's thoughts

I am lovely
I am unlovely

The World is Glorious
The World is miserable

The sky is blue
The sky is grey

Earth is transitioning
Earth is stagnant

The mirror reflects empowerment
The mirror reflects powerlessness

What you perceive
is what you believe

An image of your world

Eventually

that it’s not how good we look,

	How well we see…

Premium MemberIgnorant Perceptions

Today, I'm lost for words,
something seems so absurd.
Ignorant perceptions,
lead to blind deceptions.

My mind begins to rot,
being judged for that i'm not.
I curse those erratic eyes,
full of superficial cries.

In your selfish desire,
you wanna set me on fire,
wrap my neck in barb wire,
then you think I'm a liar!

Hatred has your thoughts ruled,
you're in need to be re-schooled.
Venom

Purgatorial Perceptions

By Mark D. Stucky
In the basement, I heard fluttering sounds
coming from inside the old chimney.
Cautiously opening the clean-out trap,
I came nose-to-beak with a panicked bird.
Having fallen down the depths
of the narrow furnace flu,
it now lacked sufficient strength and space
to escape through the constricted ascent.

With gloved hands, I reached in
to grab the imprisoned sparrow.
It pecked

I was a learned college professor, who was forever eager to know more,
As blue-gray waves, finding sandy beaches, turn to seek another shore.

I drove to work smiling, in those tangerine days, so glad for avid youths,
Like when dusky stars waltz out dreamy, winking to show hidden truths.

My long days were full, like the pink marguerites,

what is the truth
in this dimension?
where do we go
what are our intentions?
I need to find
an explanation!

Perceptions

A chameleon adorning mirror scales
See rainbow hue’s
shimmer and shine, sparkle and glow
tiny glittering pinpricks of light

now dark and grey with lightning strikes
cutting through the darkness on tears of illumination
Don’t look too close
lest you find what you seek ...

You dig and dive and analyze and search
Deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole
twisting and swirling,

This 6 liter hard candy girl
tickles my eyes and curls my toes.
Makes me dance to music I can’t feel.
Sends me where I’ve never been before,
on a tour
of Big Time, Small Town, Milky Way Heaven,
wearing clumsy sneakers that reek of old cliches
and humming sad tunes from all my yesterdays.
Don’t sit and weight for your bowels to

Perceptions

I saw the rage in his gaze,
His seductive art
I felt his digitus medius, longing to write his name inside my ****.
He charged up as usual
Still looking little unsettled with a sudden crash of energy,
I wanted to escape the situation, but his grip was tight and manhood hard
Enough to melt me down and
Drown in his

The Eyes of Percertion and Deception

THE EYES OF PERCEPTION AND DECEPTION
Signs, symbols, and codes,
upon a road to many roads.
Tis your perception and deception,
for lies within truth,
and truth within lies,
from sunset to sunrise,
what will daily thoughts realise.

Knowledge and time,
to understand, it may not rhyme.
Research the search,
until infinity you see.
Some share knowledge in unity,
powers of a coded secret society
only shadows in the

Why speak when you have nothing to say?
Using words that you know are untrue.
Showing kindness, you will go out of your way.
I have found that is not a part of the real you.

I have shared my thoughts with you,
you have continued to encourage me along.
You know what I have been through.
Once again, my people perceptions
