Self-Love Has Been Preserved

For even you have heard
Bless your birth
Down here on earth
Bless be your eyes
Your heart painted our skies
You are the first
Journey finding was worth
Created lands
Your loving hands
You see
Far beneath
Indeed You hear
Through each tear
It shows
Your love does grow
Memories remain
Through each and every change
Graphting
Drafting
Penciling the art
Fine lines of the heart
My destiny
Harmony
It is real
It is you, my Lord Jesus Christ, that heals
Loving arms of protection
True inspiration
Reviving
Reminding
Protecting
Connecting
Blessing it
Expressed it
Who
You knew

Premium MemberSplintered Edges

I’ve written everything I’ve wrote
splintered edges, leaky boat
wrote and wrote and still there’s more
sweat stained, cracked but trusty oar
penciling in and out of shore
I’ve cursed the sun, welcomed the rain
beneath the bridge became the train
challenged the rapids of my mind
unraveled secrets still entwined
within the eddy, swirl and rush
of purging flight and endless fall
forever rainbows joyful pall
enveloping both wit and pen
of poetry’s oft splintered whim

Premium MemberJackson Pollack Style

getting out my paints
primary and secondary
starting slowly, but working my way to a frenzy
Pollack style.

tossing out a few dots
no satisfaction.
begin penciling in some lines
thinking animals as I do this.

an eagle, an elk, a monkey,
something fun, humorous, clever
lots of yellows, reds, and blues.
love the basics.

a little black, some white, more than usual
I like bright. Bright is the ruler of the scepter if you ask me.
tossing some random bulls into the fray
Pondering whether or not to leave it alone.

This is how I know it is finished.
I love it!

Premium MemberHigher Expectations

Let's reflect on
being mortal, and spiritual beings.
Between the pain and confusion
life offers, and the finality of death:
we find faith, hope, trust, and love.
We're endowed with emotions, consciousness,
and a conscience;
which fuels the human heart:
buttressing the poorest foundations,
to carry the weight
of higher expectations.
Miracles only happen
to those who believe in miracles.
Looking back in time:
often shows us a distorted image of reality:
a collection of brutal truths and outright lies,
filtered through the passage of time.
And while bigotry cannot erase yesterday's shadow,
it can alter tomorrows',
by penciling in the shadows of today.
History's jagged edges
cut as deeply as any knife;
draining the heart of love,
and the soul of hope.
Skin color is a human obsession:
God is color-blind,
as is Man's best friend: the dog!

Premium MemberNight's Death Throws

Dawn separates light from shadow:
penciling in all shades of grey.
And crimson skies are set aglow
as scarlet sunbeams color Day.
Shifting shadows
flee Night's death throws.

Sol's splendor slowly starts to show
as Ebony scuttles away.
Artists like Michelangelo
use light and shadow interplay.
Child of the Sun;
shadows are one.

Interloper

Look to the outside, look within,
The penciling trees, the straw of the sun,
Skin white as milk, cheeks turn to cherries,
The gaze falls deeper within.

No more shall this stranger taunt me,
Its eyes glistening with the deep bordeaux of blood,
In which moment the heart begins to bleed,
Consciousness lost in the reflection of another.

Its palms gently caress its cheeks,
Mirroring my every move, my every breath,
A sheeny droplet passes down its complexion,
Yet I feel the sadness bound in my heart.

And still it stares, trapped before me,
Hands gripping the nearby porcelain vase,
Eyes lustrous, almost mad,
It sends the delicate prop against the cold surface.

Crimson, scarlet streams descend gently,
It still stares - bewildered and dazed,
Both our hands seen only through thick brooks of ruby,
And a smile appears.

Hello stranger,
The soul within remains unchanged,
Our gaze saunters and with a final glance of approval,
I turn and gait forth, sensing no more the bothering embodiment.

Pure Musings

The visions of the dreamers
Our truest aspiration

To paint devotion’s eyes
And show no love is higher

Sketching away with words
Charcoal a rhyme of adoration

For these are our genesis inspired
The greater truth of ourselves

Painting passion of rending desires
Penciling sweet moment whispers

We poets bare our daring fragility
For a taste of love untainted

The poets’ insight is not in our fluency
But in the eyes of our lovers…
