Coming to the promised land. South Florida home of the newly wed and nearly dead. I watch the clouds role by for today seems like yesterday and the day before. The same faces pass my eye. I say hello and say good bye.
If per chance we should speak it is what one did what one ate . When asked of future plans no one can give a date. I suspect at this stage in life what we know of the future we do not speak. So I sit here in quiet contemplation my mind wonders visualizing past embarkations and friends no longer my companions. Oh past tense how I embrace you although so long ago. Let us knot speak of future endeavors. The past like a old blanket provides a profound comfort.

Where have those years gone?
In ninth decade when I brood,
They’re here on their own—
As my life’s second childhood—
In memories all marooned!
Wish I’d not grown up,
There were times when I felt so
Finding present tense,
And most of the past perfect,
Old grammar throwing new fact!
Yet, life’s nothing but
Two conflicting emotions,
Endearing passions,
And wiser now I’m to know—
Wise enough to embrace both.

Let's make a pact:
let's forget the past
Footsteps from behind, there are no more
Thorns that are love bonds now
Past perfect. ..passed on!...

SIXTY EIGHT
For years I’ve lived with being a soixante-huiter
Although my wardrobe’s more fastidious and neater
Those heady days are not beyond recall
The nights and days when we first did it all
But sober work and ethics have combined
To make a settled bed my truest mind
And catalogues and dictionaries my woe
To understand what happened long ago
Far flung days have their own allurement
But nothing beats the logic of procurement
And adventitious loves have gone the way
Of all youth, to say it’s had its day
I daren’t even call myself a woman sweeter -
Past perfect indiscretions tend to tweet her.
