Nostalgia

Where have those years gone? In ninth decade when I brood, They’re here on their own— As my life’s second childhood— In memories all marooned! Wish I’d not grown up, There were times when I felt so Finding present tense, And most of the past perfect, Old grammar throwing new fact! Yet, life’s nothing but Two conflicting emotions, Endearing passions, And wiser now I’m to know— Wise enough to embrace both. _____________________________ Tanka |01.08.2022|

Aniruddah, Your poem is charming and very wise. Sometimes, it's true: the past does seem perfect. Congratulations on First Place!
