The Best Liar Wins

When we search for truth
To end our troy with a mending truce
Many will come
From winds of directions
To translate our fears
While pacifiers display feign happiness
So shall cajoling tongues clash
In some ironic debate
It's that time of the year
When words are the fervent tools
Employed in crammed crusades
Sweat, skin and blood all to persuade
And more, some gold; harlot for the ballot
How then shall you win me.

Should I write in rhyming words
are you babies I should coo
and speak of love and little boats
and of Dr. Seuss’s zoo.

Should I write of baby dolls
in rhyming words oh so sweet
Are you babies or men all
aged and complete.

I should coo and speak of love
of pacifiers and bottles
and little boats and planes above
size with a throttle.

Should I settle for small little men
who never tire of Dr. Seuss's Zoo
or go to bed, and say amen
let the throttle through.

A Final Letter From the Heart My Love

A final letter from the heart my love

You sat in Vermeer’s room, maid by side;
As daylight positioned at your writing place,
Decanted through the stained glass view-
Where she did stand; there; observing
Those that came and went.
Your quill did match your heart that morn’
For it beat your breasts with all your love
As the busy conquests drew to a close.
Waiting there, as long as those drapes hung,
That very room where once, you tasted intimacy-
While others found Moses; and looking on.
Your seal remains floored reminding your maid
That her ways were mere pacifiers- those days;
Such an amusing and sweet thing she was.
And of your meeting place? She did ready,
While you napped, that afternoon slipped by,
As your Alfred and Francesca stole away; and you?
Gathered yourself, returning and only keeping  diary;
Of thoughts, moments in time, betrayed in ways
Similar to those your maid witnessed as you wrote;
For nothing is ever as ordinary as that painted,
In a room Vermeer visited with his brush.

Random Remembrances

RANDOM REMEMBRANCES

Listen to what I am going to talk about
Because I swear there is no doubt
Listen to the following truth I have to say
Us junkies have changed the world in a very profound way

Next time your baby is crying for his pacifier feel the middle
There’s a hard tube to stop it from squeezing all the way and it wasn’t there when were little
They put it there because junkies were using pacifiers to shoot heroin, cocaine and speed
Junkies required a lot of things back then and an old fashioned pacifier was definitely a need

When we were growing up and you had a really bad cough there was syrup for you to drink
And now each time I take something for a cold it makes me stop and think
No one did this because they hated addicts or because they were just plain mean
But I remember, back in the days of old when cough medicine came with codeine

And as the nation grew bigger so did the problem at hand
Things were going down only us addicts could understand
We’ve changed these things and if I had more time I’d tell you the rest
Oh yes, us junkies are also responsible for the random piss test

First Love

Love, I take it my hands
Like a baby
Its hungry mouth yawning
Its dimpled cheeks smiling
Its skin unblemished
By strands of memory
And me aching
The aching me to be again
The freshness of its presence.

Love, I look into its eyes
Searching for meaning
To the beginning
And the ending
Of what we felt the first time
Our eyes met first
And lingered languishing in thirst.
And I ask now beyond the eyes silence
The question suckling at my heart.

For all the times since we separated
For the many who came after you were gone
For the anxiety caused by feelings elevated
What is the difference with each new dawn
For love, I believe
Only one of you exist
And since the first (why did you leave?)
I suck the pacifiers for my pain
Searching barren hope for bliss
And wait for you to come again.
