APPRECIATING NATURE

Go and explore, Nature's delight!!

Nature is so wonderful and magical to see,
Woodlands so green, oceans so blue,
Singing birds, the busy buzzing bee,
Butterflies that fly so free,
So elegant with colours so bright,
A wonderful sight to see.
Take in the breath of fresh air,
Look at the beautiful surroundings,
Each and every second that you are there,
Each day is precious,
So open the door and go outside,
See what joyful moments you can make,
Appreciating nature far and wide.
See the beautiful flowers that are on display,
Let's all enjoy a refreshing stroll,
Making the most of each day,
So good for the heart and good for the soul!!

The Outdoors

The outdoors.
Underground is where they live.
We walk mostly above ground.
We see flowers and walk on the trails.

The outdoors.
There are snakes but they get out of our way.
Trees fall down mysteriously.
They say it’s natural.

The outdoors.
The busy road does exist in the background.
I cross streets and bridges everyday.
They could come up at any time.

The outdoors.
Creatures that burrow.
In ways we can’t conceive.
We assume there is nothing under dirt with patches and tall grass.

The outdoors.
They’re coming to eat us all.
Creatures that live underground.
They’ve been listening to our vibrations.

The outdoors.
Exists everywhere.
Even in our backyards.
Wilderness can creep in.

The outdoors.
The horrors.
The mud.
The blood.

If I had just stayed inside that day…
Instead…
I fell into that hole covered in sticks and leaves.
That they dug deliberately.

The creatures who live in mounds.
We assumed they were animals.
I fell into their trap in broad daylight.
And stayed a long while.

Riley Park

A dozen willows in the park
A shady grove on the lawn
Eleven tall trees in the sun
And one dark stump in the shade.

They invite me to join them here:
Yes, I'd like to sit here,
The fresh breeze and cool shade,
With the damp earth, and the rough bark.

In the sun, children play games and laugh
A mother shares lunch with her baby
Birds are busy in the trees
Boys play football on the lawn.

An artist sets up a little way away,
Her studio's a blanket on the lawn.
She paints the sunlit willow trees
The grove in the middle of the park.

I'm still sitting on the stump
With the damp earth, and the rough bark.
She paints the trees from her blanket,
With the sun and the wind in the leaves.

I leave the trees.
I smile and wave
The trees wave back
And continue their life.

I pass the artist.
I smile and wave
She smiles back
And continues her work.

Flying Just Off The Ground

It took me years of training
to move my legs like this,
gliding over the granular
on long feet with curved width,
to make my legs flail left and right,
my upper half stock-still,
balancing and countering
so I won’t take a spill,
I’m going about forty-five,
but I’ve got no steel cage,
just long blades cutting through the white,
so long as it behaves.
Gravity is now my plaything,
as much as I am hers,
cross a mile in two minutes,
a small grace I have earned,
the blur of speed makes its own wind,
downs out the weaker noise,
just a fast bubble around me,
that calmness I enjoy.
Gray mercury says twenty-three,
but I don’t feel a thing,
you really only note the chill
when you have stopped moving,
my weight becomes a shifting ball,
it flows, then it slams home,
at other times it’s zero-G,
a feeling few have known.
Winter-brown trees are flashing past,
guiding the broad, white trail,
they remain still, branches don’t wave,
this time I am the gale,
it’s rare to find a day like this,
where crowds don’t slow you down,
when you can streak across the snow,
flying just off the ground.

Hiking In The Mountains

Hiking in the forest,
My feet crunching on the leaves that have fallen to the ground from the trees that surround me.
Hiking uphill to the top of the mountain
To a scenic viewpoint that awaits me.

The viewpoint,
Its breathtaking.
A beautiful dark blue sky with colorful clouds and a rainbow.

And in the distance my eyes spot the gorgeous blue ocean

And closer up is the beautiful indescribable autumn colors of trees that are reds, and oranges and yellows.

Oh how grateful I am to have hiked in a forest up a mountain to this gorgeous view.

Autumn Bliss

Autumn is one of the best seasons
Simply for a few very different reasons,

The weather permits for all outdoors social events
Relief from the temperature of the suns torments,

Enjoy lunch or dinner out on a restaurants patio
Cool nights to enjoy walks for last round of cardio,

Walk your furry companion without heat stroke worry
You can enjoy outings without scorching heat advisory,

Autumn weather seem to have a good temperament affect
Some enjoy the life cycle of the tree leaves changing effect,

The notion to keep a hoodie or jacket handy for cool nights
Don't forget the eating contests, carnivals too; Oh that's right,

These were some of a few different reasons
That Autumn is one of the best seasons.

Premium Member October’s Song

October’s voices sing to the rhythm of my soul-
Calling me to come,
Urging me to experience anew
The bounty of her being.

She is poetry
Moved in repetition yearly,
Enticing me to journey into the outside
To play while the sun shines still and
The wind blows warmly.

“Come!
Taste the richness of my colors.
See the fragrant late blooms.
Hear the reds and yellows, and oranges sing vibrantly throughout the hills
Smell the textures of the nearby farmland
Feel the living things reach out and gather all into October’s arms.
Wrap yourself in her earthly blanket woven in Heaven’s loom.
Come!”

October’s voices recite repeatedly her lyrical song.
"Come!
Leave your books, your tools, your duties for the time is short.
The trees shout joyously in the delight of day!
Come! Come into the outside
While the sun still shines and
The wind blows warmly."

The Mountains

The mountains roll, the mountains ride,
they cut a swath across the sky;
the mountains rise, the mountains drop,
if dirt gets going, it don’t stop;
the mountains loom, the mountains bock,
amongst their valleys, you are locked;
the mountains breathe, the mountains blow,
funnel storms to the lands below;
the mountains gleam, the mountains stun,
and glow within the morning sun;
the mountains crack, the mountains church,
when beneath them earth’s fires burn;
the mountains chill, the mountains freeze,
critters come down to seek relief;
the mountains stand, the mountains stay...
for this man’s lifetime, anyway.

Bald Eagle Sonnet

He circles around this rustic boat launch,
the locals know he nests in the pine trees,
fish bone at the base tell of his last lunch,
these birds like water, big lakes and sea.
White heads draw the eye, even if far off,
it’s clear why most men think them majestic,
he looks better still plunging for the waves,
into a trout yellow talons now rip.
Some folks snap photos from this rocky beach,
zoom in on fledglings with thin mottled heads,
they flap wings to fly, but it’s still a reach,
so they just hop back to their nesting bed,
it will be some months before they’re ready
to soar on the thermals, strong and steady.

Creating a garden

CREATING A GARDEN

To create a garden from scratch,
Can seem so daunting,
But with a plan to hatch,
Is so marvellous and rewarding!!
Researching about the soil,
Choosing so many varieties of seeds,
Climate change and wind directions,
Not to mention the digging out the weeds!!
Lots of sketching and gardening books,
So full of vibrant, colourful flowers,
Planting the new plants I brought,
I have been outdoors, gardening for hours!!
It brings me such joy,
Creating a garden in my own way,
It is a great passion of mine,
I find it therapeutic, I have to say!!
It's so great to be outdoors,
And create such a beautiful, colourful scene,
To nurture my unique garden,
A place I love to be,
In my heavenly garden space,
Of peace and tranquility!!

This Is Me - autobiographical verse

Martin
Softly spoken, conscientious, thoughtful, union man,
The proud son of a nurse, no stranger to, “the pan”,
Loving the blues and blue grass, I’m a Bolton Wanderers fan,
Feeling hopeful, happy or sad, I walk outdoors when I can,
Fearing for the grand-kids, the planet, the common man,
Hoping for peace in Gaza, Ukraine and Sudan,
Bolton, North West England, made me who I am,
Challender

I can't believe the grand-kids used be so small,
they're two very special boys,
growing fast, they'll soon walk tall,
the time we spend is special, sharing hours of joy.
