Awash in bright colors past Summer's height,
Unhurried days are lingering with more daylight.
Green foliage will be transformed to russet and gold.
Umber meadows this Autumn are beginning to unfold.
Savor the glory of the season before Winter's first frost
Touches the branches of trees whose leaves will be lost.

Like Rip Van Winkle, she confronted a new world;
Hers was one of commonplace and acceptability,
not exceptional nor eager for excellence.
Remember when bacon packs were a pound,
and diesel was cheaper than gas? 16 ouch packs
are now replaced by 12 ouches with higher prices.
I understand inflation. Have you seen Common Sense lately?
Craftmanship and the Midas Touch are disappearing also. Perhaps you
will find them with a gallant search, but be enduring and patient; for it
could be a rare find. Like many things of quality and pricelessness, The
Midas Touch appears to be quietly exiting the stage. The curtains are closing.
Unfortunately, some things don't get to be made great again. She gave her
best as she sighed by day and wept late at night. She could not compromise
the essence of her soul. She wanted to stay, but could no longer compete.
Often outbid by style and mediocrity, she maintained her integrity.

Do you say "Ouch" when you're all by yourself
and there's no one to hear the pain?
Do you say "Oops!" when you're there all alone
and you know the wine's gonna stain?
Do you say "I love you" when she walks in the door
though you're actually hot for Sharlene?
Do you say "But what'll I do?" when she goes
out the door and doesn't come in again?
Do you say you're sorry when really you're not,
but it's the only thing that'll do
To bring her back home to share in your lot
of ouches and oopses, the old deja vu?
Do you say you love her because
that Sharlene has just shot through
with some other guy from the job?
Do you say that you love her a lot...
and you've been all along
meaning to...?
Then do.

Climb those many stairs, up to the stars.
“Cut!” Comes the child, the wee Pinkerton.
Stunt double, doubles down, with plethora of scars.
Fate is what it is, bumps, bruises...sorta fun.
Pinkerton rolls and bounces, ooches and ouches.
Then they call in the fingering ‘stache, for he smooths
the luscious hairs of his handlebar, never slouches.
Divine with his hands too, damsels-in-distress, he soothes.
Pinkerton pastes on his pastel beard, and breaks out
into a minor character. “Cut! Stunt dou—ble!”
The ‘Stache rips doppelgänger’s facial hair as Pinkerton shouts,
opens mouth, “Hey! Hey! That really hurt!” Now he’s in trouble.
Pinkerton pouts as he takes his final walk into the night.
Rubs his eyes as a werewolf runs by ready to attack.
Those mischievous stars yell, “Cut! Stunt double, fight!”
Alarmed, Pinkerton needs to know who has his back.
A werewolf snarls and twirls his whiskers with a pinky.
Suspicious and brave, the kid gives him a karate chop.
Pinkerton unzips the stinker from bottom to top.
Found out, ‘Stache grabs his blanket and binky.

If I designed a waiting room
There would be comfy couches,
Distracting patients from what may
Be followed by some ouches.
The tables would be practical
With boxes filled with tissues
And piles of magazines to read –
Of course, the current issues.
The walls would be a soothing hue,
The artwork so relaxing
That no one would be worried
‘Cause appointments can be taxing.
The TV sets would have to go;
Not everyone would buy it,
But I would be much calmer if
The waiting room were QUIET!

Like an Olympic athlete
Iris sets to work at lightning speed
Cleaning her designer
Kitchen and spacious bathroom.
Everywhere she
Touches
Yields to her fluffy feather duster
She hasn't a moment to spare as
Previous viewers are coming to
Look around her flat for a second time.
If she reduces the price a little
They may be the new owners!

Winter winter
Icy whisper
Nip in the air
Touches warmer
Evenings longer
Rose in your cheeks
Maples burning
Apples charming
Green is white
Icy quiet
Christ in sight

Between rainfall and the glint of night pearls
enchanting is air, a minty cologne
where toes go barefoot to wade and unfurl
into a pour of lips glowingly sewn.
Touches ripen the aftertaste of dew
catching a stardust with beguiled ardor
heady the flight of promises renewed
even the mist hums an intimate lore
drenched in words,”You are my forevermore…”
