 Welcome August Acrostic Contest

 Sponsor: Andrea Dietrich

Awash in bright colors past Summer's height, Unhurried days are lingering with more daylight. Green foliage will be transformed to russet and gold. Umber meadows this Autumn are beginning to unfold. Savor the glory of the season before Winter's first frost Touches the branches of trees whose leaves will be lost.

Lin, congrats on this beauty. As I go over my winner list again and i can see some of my third placed ones like yours were actually as good as some of the second placed. Anyway, that's just how I ended things up. Congrats on a podium win

This is a great acrostic Lin; I especially love the last line. I always watch my black walnut tree and the squirrels to tell me about the up and coming winter weather... I think I responded to your "soup mail", but I'm not sure if it went through. I'm not very techno savvy, and didn't even know it existed until you said you sent something. Hugs

So right you are my good friend. ""The leaves are decayed and in throes of death The short-lived lives Nature's testament. They escape into a long falling spree. To dismay we poets feel that last breath."" Your verses always inspire poetry to flow within me. God bless.

I'm always sad to see leaves tumbling to the ground, too Robert. Their beauty is short-lived while we complain about old age. Thank you for your kind thoughts.

there is a day - usually in mid August - when you can literally feel a distinct twinge in the air.....it is the first tickle of fall's coming. Nicely written Lin

G'morning, John. I hope that day arrives here soon for it's going to be another 100+ temperature day. "...first tickle of fall..." I'd welcome its fingers today. Thanks so much for your gracious comments.

This is so beautiful Lin, such a beautiful acrostic. I am looking so forward to the autumn, my favorite time of year. We live in the desert where we look forward to fall's cooler and welcome relief. Our saguaros and tanque verde trees stay just the same, and rarely do we get snow, but oh, what a wonderful joy it is to us desert dwellers when we do :) Thank you for the reminder that autumn is soon on its way <3

Autumn is also my favorite season. When I lived in Colorado, I welcomed the first snow but after that, I didn’t like the slush. Thanks so very much, BJ.

It’s a subtle change here in the South. We don’t get the pleasure of leaves changing color but I gladly give that up not to be buried in snow. Thanks, Jan
