Obeying Poems | Examples

How Long

How long can rolling waters stay
impure in their decree?
How long can all the world behold
the many signs they see,
and not consider what is meant,
and come to understand -
the fig tree has sent forth her leaves,
the summer’s nigh at hand.

What power can stay the heavens?
Does the world possess the force?
Can man with puny arm turn back
a river from its course?
For it is written -
“Every jot and tittle must fulfill.”
The day rolls on and God doth move
according to his will.

But it would seem mankind will not
allow the signs they see
to soften heart, and open mind,
and fall on bended knee.
Ere long the scripture stands in place,
and sadly it is true -
“They that are called be many...
and the chosen are but few.”

Obeying the Whistle

A thin-lipped nun blows her whistle.
An acre of concrete ground
stops playing, acting-out
our brief make-believe lives.

Reality is a cold wind
chewing at pale knees, gray shorts
and blue skirts.

Catholic children forget their names,
their made-up names as well.
as they march into the bricked block
where classrooms are already
shouting instructions.

Old now, we forget how it felt,
as we filed into the bare-boned halls
of a bickered religiosity.

How we had to study by rote,
like our times-tables,
how angry God would forever be
with us kids.

Obeying a Scent

I cannot stop my lucky nose;
Not with the winsome scent of Rose:
From my cherished chair often rose
And to my Darling Rose drew close.

Now, breeze that announces it blows
And a film of it clearly flows
While my childish excitement grows,
Fast fanning out my seduced nose!

Of the scent wanting a good dose,
Man would sooner he obeyed his nose
Flesh and blood present where there's sweet scent
Than seek the company of a saint.

Premium MemberObeying Time's Decree

I salute you oh, mighty Time:

My best friend,

My worst enemy

For

To live without you is simply

Unimaginable!

Throughout my existence

I have, unsuccessfully, struggled to accept

Whatever you brought to me,

Either it was a sweet smile

Or a bitter tear with

Equanimity

Since

I could not enjoy the one

Without

Suffering the presence of

The other

For

This, you told me, is the order of things,

This is what the heavens

Decree,

But

I, a fool ignorant, resisted!

Now, however,

Older and wiser, an obedient child of yours, oh Time,

I have finally become

So as

To abide by your universal rules

Of growth and decay

Without

My tightened lips, a single complaint to

pronounce!

Obeying God

Used his life time to build a ship,
Counted among the faithful being,
God’s wrath he doesn’t want a sip,
To save many beings ..,he’s so keen.

He preached and begged for many years,
Ignored and looked down like a fool,
This coming danger will bring tears,
Gathered plenty like in a school.

Men refused to obey this call,
Even when others came in pairs,
The supreme is tired of it all,
“Close and bring the keys”,HE declares.

Sky vibrates and speaks with loud voice,
The cloud drums and flashes its light,
As aqua pours down without choice,
Legs run ,mouths wail; there’s no more right.

As flood runs through, land says’no more’ ,
Streams and seas couldn’t stand this rain ,
This has never happened before ,
Deaf and dumb men went down the drain.

Flood rages on for many days ,
Hills, valleys were swallowed for long ,
This shows that obeying God pays ,
Making my belief in HIM strong .

Premium MemberObeying Your Call

There's a sound in my ears
it speaks to my inner soul
calling to me for a response
this could be shot for my goal

This message conveys great urgency
looking ahead to the mountain peak
such majestic grandeur so awesome
points to me to come up and seek

What beauty so glorious in view
it lures you to come up inside
going expectedly for something special
but it's secret in you will confide

There you are at it's very top
looking down from your royal throne
what a picture you see up there
how your kingdom has indeed grown

Such a privilege bestowed on you
for so to be lord of all of these
for one day you'll give it all up
to the eternal king bowed to your knees

Obeying Christ

OBEYING CHRIST is easy
He is asking
"Where is your trust?"
No matter how we think or feel
OBEYING Christ is a must
Doing it will bless your life
Even the Satan constantly
Makes fun of your Christian fight
OBEYING Christ is not hard to do
Even when you're worried
Sad and blue
His Hold Word
Will make your heavy heart brand new
You will forever call Him your,"Boo!"
(Smile)
