On the Brink of A New Age

Standing on the brink of
a new age, I behold
a synthetic fraternity
letting the wings of progress unfold.

And yet, our silicon brothers
teeter on the edge of a day
when Frankensteins will repent the
humanity they pushed away.

Will our artificial children
bring joyous dawn unto light;
or forsake our own good,
plunging us in dystopian night?

The Impossible Measurement-- DHR

From the curvings of forgotten history, a device was born,
Forged with the wisdom of ages, and secrets yet unworn.
It held a mirror that measured beauty beyond the eye,
And painted the perfect version of a mortal passing by.

It studied every face, every smile, every graceful line,
Suggested robes of wonder and designs almost divine.
When tested upon the world, its numbers never fell,
Humanity celebrated the machine that knew beauty so well.

But while it travelled home, a soul ran past its sight,
A fleeting glimpse of her, gone within a moment's flight.
The machine trembled softly, its calculations turned strange,
Its perfect laws shattered under a beauty it couldn't arrange.

The mirror cracked into silence, the suggestions lost their flame,
No cloth, no jewel, no colour could ever define her name.
The device, defeated by something beyond its creation,
Displayed a final message: a beautiful revelation.

"The beauty you seek cannot be captured, measured, or chained,
It rises beyond clouds where imagination has remained.
It is not found in mirrors, nor in what eyes can see,
For true beauty is the universe escaping its own decree."

THe NeW AgE

    Nothing has changed though really
What once was now centre stage
People keep on talking about unity
Yet no one is willing to engage

With all this hate and anamosity
It seems people filled with rage
     When looking back on history
It is like were on the same page

Now striped the fabric of society
Feels like a war is begging to wage
The fact we're in the 21st centuary
What has the cheek to call it self
     The new age.

Written 2020 talking about state of world
In these times ever since 2001..

New Age Paradox

i heard he was a lamb disguised as beast but
some say it's the other way around
he awakened in the east from a night's rest before
heading west to settle down
a metaphysical riddle on sandy shores overlooking
the sea on a dark night
metaphors sift through his mind like an hourglass
as his flipped time on its head at midnight
he slipped into a dream from a flow state traveling
through time & birth canal
his birth shrouded in mystery like a game of clue but
the stars knew he'd come around
dark clouds formed on an autumn day setting the stage
for storms & hard rain
on this day it poured like never before as the clouds
tried to shroud the sun in vain
weathervanes spun crazy as every hand on all clocks
spun counter clockwise
the globe had been reset by this anomaly who'd come
into this world thrice wise
born both of the day & night time he was clearly a
new aged paradox
the countdown began with his first breath while above
& below placed bets while the world watched

Threefold Flame of Christ

Christ the Suffering is the fire of love
The red flame that flows within every plant, person and dove
Who sacrificed itself on each tree in sight
For the eventual victory of the tranquil light

Christ the Messiah is the flame of power
The golden fire that shines goodness into each flower
Showing its life to those asleep during night
Repelling the endless shadow of night through its hot might

Christ the Luminous is the flame of wisdom
The blue fire that unveils the all and heaven’s kingdom
Illuminating the caged brain all the way through
Releasing the caged bird to the endless expanse of blue

This is the triple powered flame unquenching
Shining as three endless lamps but is a single white light

New Age Boogeyman

Not all of the boogeymen live under your bed
Some can be worse than concoctions from your head
Not all of them are green, with sharp and jagged teeth
Some of them are orange, and hide their fangs underneath

They try to hide beneath their masquerading wispy mane
But the wind blows their cover, showing it's in vain
They try to trick us into drinking poison, and get into your head
I hope the ones that believed it, didn't end up dead...

They make you think they're on your side, but only ever lie
They can even seem kind of pleasant, until you sever ties
Then they come after you with all the force of a rocket
And if you try to shake their hand, they rip your arm out of the socket

Their bullying can be furious, sometimes even fiery
Writing nasty rumors about you in a very public diary
Making exaggerated motions, hoping to distract you
Luckily some have tiny hands, that would physically impact few

But their words can be damaging and can demand a crowd
Sometimes their biggest weapon, is that they're so very loud
If we collectively ignore them, maybe they'll get no more attention
The very least we can do, to keep up boogeyman prevention

Premium Member A New Age Kerfuffle

Addicted to modern technology you say?
Nah, I could live without my Mac
Well, at least for maybe an hour or so
Before a withdrawal attack

First thing in the morning you'll find me here
Surfing and learning new things
Opening up and exploring new horizons
An amazing experience it brings

Text books and encyclopedias used to do it
The source for all my new learning
Today they've become much less important
The tide is definitely turning

Farewell to novels you held in your hand
Sadly they're becoming obsolete
No more sitting and reading by the seaside
With waves lapping at your feet

So say goodbye to how life used to be
Must adapt or get lost in the shuffle
Open your computer and start surfing away
Or wind up in a new age kerfuffle!

Judged: 12/04/2020

A Than-Bauk poem consists of 3 lines. Each line consists of 4 syllables.
There is a rhyme pattern as well. The last syllable of the 1st line,
the 3rd syllable of the second line, and the 2nd syllable of the third line.
Also, the poem should be on the witty side.

New ways for new ideas
Emerging and emergent
Upon these lovely shores
Everywhere with abundance
Where the question is
The answer in a cocoon
In-sync with possibility
And no one is left behind
In the grand scheme of things

New even as change
Reveals a heaven-on-earth
That tells a story
Where each soul lives
And breathes a sublime truth
As beauty encompasses
A brave new world
With distinct possibilities
And miraculous frontiers

New aspirations fund
The way of love truly
Beyond superficial noise
As face to face
We meet and greet
Our destiny as one humanity
With touching devotion
To that first-cause:
Love that honours love

New dreams encircle
Beyond borders and fringes
As humankind configures
A sense of crisp oneness
Of common purpose
Not enslaved by skin colour
Or vain arrogance
Where dignity and compassion
Bloom with grace and light

New transactions
Sanguine and pragmatic
To void obsolete patterns
And old devious habits
To create anew
In spirit and in truth
The way of co-existence
Beyond merely hearsay
To a creative renaissance

New possibilities call
To brave old souls
To unhinge odd madness
Forge time and space
With good intentions
Surge ahead briskly
With bold visions
As firm attention
Empowers stern action

New age ethos drives
Urgency here and now
As this weary world
Morphs a new vitality
A sharpening stone
For blunt knives
To cut cleanly away
Old hangovers
And dangling debris
