Louie, Lou-ie
Neiman’s apro’ flame*
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
lyrics scream: pumpkin, blue, green
and Satch, you’re burning it up
Louie, Lou-ie
you’re cloudy-white teeth, gritty
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
lyrics scream: crimson, yellow
blaze the blues out your trumpet
Louie, Lou-ie
the microphone horizon
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
marvels at your artistry
the flames claim your audience
Louie, Lou-ie
Leroy Neiman toys with you
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
brush’d bruising, blushing of paint
aged ceiling’s raised - feel the flames

Leroy Neiman painting: Louie Singing, 1959
Nod to the Kingsmen song Louie Louie (pronounced Loo-ee Loo-eye)
I want to say I’m sorry - your present looks like that.
It wasn’t kicked by UPS or pummeled with a bat
The master wrappers I prefer, simply aren’t around
A slow economy got them or the covid cut them down.
My boys at Neiman Marcus, I miss those guys so much
and the girls Bergdorf Goodman had such a subtle touch
the lacy Le Bon Marché ribbons, are what set their work apart
no matter where you placed those gifts, they always looked like art
I miss those tasteful craftsmen, but instead of being depressed
I watched some Youtube lessons - and I tried my very best
but the present came out so miserably, I thought I should confess
The Healers in Ecuador
Ecuador lush greens, and iguanas galore
The smell of the Hibiscus so sweet they implore
The hunches of folk maidens found in books
Adventures in paradise; listening to brooks
Healing the soul from whence it came
Releasing the bondages from deadly games
The essence of breath found in the jungle untamed.
The healers explored vast botany ignored
Within the person the pilgrims restored
Instead of a pharmacy excepting a bribe
Drops from lush plants heal souls that subscribe
And, hope soars as the eagles proclaim,
The Boehme folk maidens brushed them and gently lay claim
Healing for anyone without any shame
Thanking The Earth for royal bounties it shares
Requesting in return to replenish its’ ware
This poem is dedicated to Ingrid Neiman and Dr. Induli "The Healers of Ecuador"

High heeled leather pumps; the best will only do
In all different styles and colors; the most brilliant of hues
Gorgeous diamond jewelry; a temptation not to resist
Hone my very essence and surely enhance my wrists
Managing hair appointments; a color and highlight is a must
Angelic to the naked eye; beauty is what we lust
Imperfections not visible; expensive makeup applied to disguise
Neiman Marcus and Marshal Fields; fully stocked with vital supplies
Tanning bed awaits; a special bronzer first I must get
Enriched with vitamins and minerals; top shelf purchase let’s not forget
Nylons hosiery and lingerie; Victoria’s Secret now exposed
A variety of silk and satins; frilled with lacy garnished bows
New car smell in the air; a fast sporty convertible is what I seek
Candy apple red with adorning leather seats; all which I bespeak
Exhausting idea of being a perfect wife; beauty's the weakness on this path of life
