Negligees Poems

I knew, and you knew, that if I listened to "Unchained Melody," I would have surrendered to yesterday. Without the praises and disappointments, those deep, lingering sighs during moments of passion, our love seemed superficial by comparison. Everything changed the moment I saw his face in my dreams. Suddenly, the sweet sounds of Gheorghe Zamfir’s "Unchained Melody" called me back; I transformed into the Greek goddess you never recognized. I am free.

My last sigh and our final embrace have settled into dust, leaving only one reminder: your brown jar of honey, untouched, sticky, and outdated, much like your attempts to seduce me. Those negligees you once adored have lost their color, much like yesterday's tears. Everything we once shared feels so unreal, yet I am free—free to love. With each breath and every melody, the intimidation has faded away.

We were everything to each other, and I cherish those nights. However, I have now become the courageous heart of my soul; my fears have lifted, and my smiles are long overdue. A new secret has come to light. Close all doors.

Premium MemberListen Closely, My Son

So much to solicit, but with substance excluded,
she mimics intimacy, but leaves one secluded.
Flatteries slip off her tongue like honey's sultry sweetness.
"Come to this incensed bed for pleasure's soft caress."
Like a crafty serpent's spiel, her lips slither stellar speech.
Secure your spirit, flesh, and soul; she'll sample some of each.
With silken negligees, she'll sustain a slave's stronghold,
stealing one's strength like the lust for shiny gold.
One's best possession is sequestered, that of self, a sword within,
squandered to a showy stranger, a satanic mannequin.
Leaving spouse and offspring grieving, an egregious price to pay,
some have spurned their own cisterns to search for soggy clay.
Listen closely, my son, with stern discretion be wise.
For she will lead you in similitude as Eden's sad demise.

Short weekends and long weekdays
School’s out then it’s onto résumés and workdays
Mondays dragging on through to Fridays
Long commutes on highways, subways and tramways
Toiling for okays, some praise and hopefully a raise

Soirees and negligees for Saturdays
Aspiring to bouquets so enchanting in a vase
Before you know it’s on for matinees on Sundays
Enjoying soufflés, sorbets, sundaes and parfaits
Eyeing the calendar for paydays
As well as birthdays, holidays and getaways

But nowadays, as retirees, we have our days
And often we just graze in haze almost a daze
Where Tuesdays look no different than Thursdays
To paraphrase it’s our final phase when interplays
In many ways the sweet nostalgia of yesterdays

SILENT PROTEST

You forget O children, your embodiment in the old —
how we live again and again through you. You choose
to ditch the dress up clothes, wedding rings and such.
Perhaps our gray skin and wrinkles are caused by the blunder.

Look at the baptism of babes, cradled in white negligees
— virginal prowess with maternal instincts leaning toward
the grave future. Our children throw dungarees upon
countless generations with scuffed up knees, rolled up shirts.

Our spineless arrows place a bullseye before each child’s eye
leading them to think they are — all — the prize. Scuff marks
explore the floor leaving no shine — a mother’s most inclined
to scrub up the mess her Suzy-Q’s and Johnny’s left behind.

The old black and white films, in silent protest, leave a stamp
of gentlemen suits and modest dress for ladies, jokes without
crass behavior — rated G for grand, great and gallant. For sure
some broke the rules, but the boundary was there, for the fool.

So You Agree That Valentine's Day

So you agree that you don't
celebrate Valentine's Day
because you chose not to be a
part of the masses for the
origin of Valentine's Day has
nothing to do with love but
death
So you agree that Valentines
Day is what the masses use to
market chocolate, teddy bears,
negligees, and dinner
So you agree that the masses
will celebrate any man made
holiday in order to make a
dollar and try to make you feel
like love should only be
expressed Feb 14th.
So you agree my love that we
will not exchange gifts on Feb
14th but use several days
throughout the year to spend
time with one another,
exchange what we like with one
another instead of waiting for a
calendar to instruct you to do
so. What was that? You said
yes, well, my love I'm glad we
are equally yoked because I
don't think it would work any
other way!

Premium MemberThe Flame

PROLOGUE
The Flame, aflicker, licks and flays,
illuming evening’s negligees
With braided curls she swirls and sways,
and flits and floats in light ballets

           APOLOGUE
A Flame, to conquer creeping fog,
flew dancing towards a random log
Her flight perplexed a leery frog
beside a silent somber bog

The Flame, a ripple, all alone
alit on leaves where birds had flown
The aching twigs began to moan
A rising breeze began to groan

The Flame arrayed an ancient oak
with torrid tongues and veils of smoke
A beaver bailed, the dam had broke
The leery frog soon ceased to croak

The Flame uncoiled and lashed midair,
consuming crowns with utmost care
A crazed coyote fled her lair,
left in the lurch bewildered bear

The Flame, unfurled, went wild and grew,
enkindled cats and caribou
Remaining... not a residue,
as reeking vapors bade adieu

The Flame revealed her strength unshackled
Flora, fauna crisped and crackled
Fire Witches clucked and cackled
One more forest stripped, then hackled

           EPILOGUE
The arsonists were well aware
the Flame would travel everywhere
The weirs are gone, the land is bare,
and soon you’ll find a city there

     "12 Days of Christmas Craves"

On the twelfth day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
12 twinkling tiaras

Eleven emerald elephants

Ten Tiffany trinkets

Nine naughty negligees

Eight echoing elves

Seven sequined stars

Six sexy singers

Five fake fingernails s s s

Four furry foxes

Three tingling tamborines

Two turtledoves

And peach tree in pail via e-mails s s s.

Your Brown Jar of Honey

I knew and you knew that if I listen to Unchained Melody
I would have given up on yesterday
Without the praises, the disappointments
Those long, long sighs
During moments of passion
Our Love was superficial in comparison, until

I saw his face in my dreams
Suddenly, the sweet Gheorghe Zamfir
Unchained Melody spoke to me, I became
The Greek Goddess you never heard of
I am free.

My last sigh, our last embrace
Has curled into dust bunnies
With only one reminder
Your brown Jar of honey, untouched
Sticky and outdated like
Your attempt to seduce me

Those negligees you once loved
The color fades like yesterday tears
Everything in this world that we once shared
Seems so unreal, I am free, free to love
With each breath, with each melody, the intimidation
We were everything, I welcome those nights

However, I am now the Brave heart of my soul
My fear has subsided, my smiles long overdue
A new secret reveals. Close all doors
