Premium MemberThe Vast Distance Between Us

“I stand in quite solitude gazing upon the vast ocean which separates you from me my love.

An ocean seemingly endless and deep yet with nare a ripple drifting , only those placed by memory of my mind.
Were it indeed an ocean with many a mile of hardship and danger required it would give my spirit far greater peace than the torment in which it currently abides for bitter sting lies in reality you lay now silently at my side. How do I reach across such dark distance to hold you once again ? How do I dare undertake such a journey ?
Though you are here, you are there with many a harsh day between us.....
Oh that I could hold you close and once more live within your grace.....were it not for this vast distance between us ...”

Premium MemberOh Emily

“Oh Emily”

Lead me by example
Of your unbounded strength
Nare passed a fortnight
Your pen pressed not against the page
In the evening hours by candle light
Oh how I loathe these electronic distractions
If I could but break them all
In the wind a hundred others like a gale
Would come to fill the absence
How did you press on and make it through?
What advice for a peace-less poet to do?
For inside burns a ferrous desire to fallow the pen’s will
And walk the lonely poet’s path no more
Rather be drowning in admirers putting these tears to rest

So
How long
Have I
Been
Here
In dreams
And visions
Is this the land
Of mild delusion
Grandeous desires
Nare an intrusion

Dare I say
Todays the day
I will kick
The smoke
Be on my way
It barely reminds me
Of the days when
I could find
Nare a friend
Felt like wasted life
And now I’m
To have a wife

With whispers
No cloud in the sky
Nare feather floating
Of birds so high
Dare I remiss
I swear josh
For your loss
I did cry

Premium MemberRoses Stink

Today I stopped to smell a rose
And got a fairy in my nose.
She buzzed her little fairy wings
She kicked and punched and other things.

It kind of tickled as she fought
But all her struggling was for naught.
Like glue my boogies held her there
Her tiny frame lodged in my nare.

Some pixie dust she threw therein
And though she tried, she could not win.
It turns out I’m allergic, see
To all that dust she threw on me.

I hacked and coughed and then I wheezed
I snorted, sniffled…even sneezed
And yet despite those awful fits
Up in my nose, the fairy sits.

A nasal home where she must stay
Until she figures out a way
to climb down and my nostril breach…
She’s just too deep for me to reach.

So next time when you hear them say
to smell the roses on your way,
Recall the fairy in my sniffer
And know that my advice may differ.

Ravaged

The second time I remember we meet. Looking at you upon my visit.
Rotted black encrusted feet. No longer lustrous and standing.
Nasal gastric tube in your nare. No running scheduled feedings.
Seeing you abandoned in the nursing home showed that the staff no longer had
any cares.
Balled in a fetal position. Shocked that you were ravaged.

The human mask
The veil to hide what we really feel

Smile to hide the pain
Laughing hides the tears

On the outside we seem ok
But inside we are aching
In pain and can't get away

We wait till we're out of sight
To release our inner fright
Cry for minutes, hours
Then mask the pain again

Letting it build till we can nare it no more
Then we burst for all to see
And say it's nothing
Just to turn away
And wear the mask again
