Oh Emily

“Oh Emily” Lead me by example Of your unbounded strength Nare passed a fortnight Your pen pressed not against the page In the evening hours by candle light Oh how I loathe these electronic distractions If I could but break them all In the wind a hundred others like a gale Would come to fill the absence How did you press on and make it through? What advice for a peace-less poet to do? For inside burns a ferrous desire to fallow the pen’s will And walk the lonely poet’s path no more Rather be drowning in admirers putting these tears to rest
