Though it is time to say goodbye,
I will abide my heart and try
Not to collapse and maudlin cry,
For there is a burning need that I
Cannot sate which keeps me nigh.
During days you were my warming sun,
And during nights, my glowing moon
Who lit my soul till breaths were done;
Yet death the reaper took you from
My needy selfish side too soon.
You left behind our memories shared,
And countless times you showed you cared.
Yet, no matter how you thought we fare,
You stood with me with bosom bared
In life’s campaigns we shared and dared.
Though your soul has left me now,
I will leave a kiss upon your brow,
And say farewell, yet do avow,
To meet you once again somehow
Should an understanding God allow.

With an anxious heart, I pray I'll see you again,
glancing hopefully over my shoulder.
You will be back;
I'm sure of it!
Ignoring the slights of friends, expressing their doubts;
I refuse to listen to such drivel.
What they whisper can't possibly be true;
for that would mean that I have lost you forever.
Please hurry back to my embrace,
you know that I love you, don't you?
And I believe,
you love me too!

Wearing innocence like a shawl;
her hair shimmers with golden rays.
And smells of misty morn dewdrops,
green meadows, and hot summer days.
Her presence taunts reality;
fueling fantasies and dreams.
Perfection is hard to achieve;
but it's easy for her, it seems.
Seducing my heart with a smile;
her aura shines like a beacon.
And her beauty's so surreal
all my inhibitions weaken.
In the presence of this angel,
my knees buckle, and I feel weak.
And yet, gazing into her eyes,
I muster the courage to speak.
When I open my heart to her,
she gives me a passionate kiss.
And my surprise morphs into love;
transforming my doubts into bliss.

*I am thankful for all of my beautiful friends here at the Soup…and for lovely judges like Gwen who take their time to offer us such fun contests. Yes, I am trying to 'butter up' the judge a little but this poem is about stuffing -n- Thanksgiving so makes it ok, right? :)

When I met you
I thought without
thinking.
When you met me
you felt without
feeling.
I think you now
you feel me, too.
Is that not cool?
