Redemption
Wonderful wild moorland
Unfettered freedom reigns
Swirling wind ruffles grass
No concrete obstacles
Peace of mind comes to pass.
Wonderful wild moorland
Every breath pure pleasure
Happiness can be found
In nature's harmony
No restrictions, unbound.
Wonderful wild moorland
Windblown and beautiful
Insignificant me
With my eyes open wide
Sudden epiphany.
Wonderful wild moorland
A healing place to be
Perfect for reflection
Heavenly melody's
Spiritual redemption.

Moorland Solitude
The spongy earth springs underfoot
Concealing all below;
You mind your way,
This eerie day,
You're careful how you go.
As mists roll off the craggy moss
Concealing all above;
You find your way,
This eerie day,
About a place you love.
A speck of rain anoints your head
Concealing thoughts inside;
You see your way,
This eerie day,
To let your qualms, subside.
The heather forms a carpet here
Concealing

Moorland Ponies
There are wild horses in the heather;
their neighing follows the wake
of hewing wind-wraiths.
The ponies are hardy and stout, they go
in and out of the clouds, slip through
swale and dingle.
The moors are high. You don't feel the altitude
only the depth of the land. When the sky turns sullen
it tilts to smother the earth.
If the scything winds

Inspired and In Awe of Majestic Beauty
Inspired And in awe of Majestic Beauty.
.
Stagnant moss and patches of lichen
Cling to weathered uneven
Sandstone dry stone walls
Segregating lush green moorland
Surrounded by silent sisters standing
Lofty huge and tall
As wholly clouds majestically graze
On both idle pleasant and more inhospitable days
.
An unpredictable temperamental land
As seasons emerge and in an instant
Temperatures rise or plummet

Moorland Path
The path between myself and the distant man
twists and turns. There are gullies and ridges
hags and troughs, a hoary dusk.
We are converging. He has my hat and clothes,
my resemblance.
Once I miscalculated;
I was out on the trackless moors too late,
darkness fell
I had to lose myself to find myself.
The figure is waving, not in

Pastrual Quilt
Pastoral Quilt.
A pastoral quilt
Of varied greens
And russet tawny browns
Surveyed by adoring eye
On verge of a hill
High above he ground
The provaling wind
Reddens my cheeks
With a slight bite
And tussles my hair
As I breath in the pure clean air
Towering sisters of mountain rocky outcrop
Tor and hill
Forever still
Linier lines of old dry sandstone walls
Border the

Moorland
Winter’s dusk forlorn on the moor has found me.
Sky has cried its tears; now I soak in stillness.
All at once, I hear in the gloaming - bird song
flooding the wasteland!

Moorland and Sky
You are a heather in my moorland
A rainbow in my sky
I know seasons change
Daisies replace you
Skies are grey again
The I am no more moorland
Then I am no more sky

MOORLAND
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moorland, wilderness, natural beauty, Nature!
Wilderness, from barren to verdant glory.
Natural, prime, if untouched, an untold story.
Beauty, as perceived by human-nature.
Nature, its larder for all and sundry!
The Heavy Chains of Moorland Mist
the chill of autumn
initiates spiral breath
precariously
dancing buoyant upon frigid air chained to contours, dwell
penetrating the very heart of the purple moorland chase,
a symbol of being, as it is within a cycle
nature’s promise one of perpetuity.
yet alas ‘tis with a wondrous although woeful eye
emancipation of candour only I seek,
till to hear the call of the lonesome
Giant Rombald's Moorland Delight
To embrace
life’s analytic myth
to inspire
nature’s symbolic smile,
to manoeuvre
amidst northern skies of blue
to roam
chauvinistic contours sensitive and true.
To perceive
inclement purple haze that rebels
against the moor side mist,
to dwell if only momentarily within
a dream upon
“Windgate Nick” Where dandelion
seeds float in sunbeams
of radical tranquil,
and fanciful fables
of innocent finery are spawned.
To wander
the fallow tracks of “Heber’s Ghyll”
Stride the sparsely
