Premium MemberOn Poems I Cannot Understand

Poems come in all shapes and sizes
Forms and formats, types, and themes
Comes a question that invariably arises
What about mere consciousness streams?

Must all poems have rhythm and rhyme?
I’ve seen collections of words appearing
Which require inordinate study over time,
Never revealing any message endearing.

I asked the poet, “What does this mean?”
“What are you saying?” --worthy of space?
Precisely what is the lesson I can glean?
And the poet will tell me, to save face,

“A brand-new form, I call it ‘modernistic’”
Poetry, to be sure, but incredibly obscure
I would not hesitate to label it anachronistic,
For I’ve never seen anything like it before!

Elegance Charm And Grace.
.
Elegance charm and grace
Decadence with a photogenic beauticians idealistic face
Stylish fashion a portrayal of high class Ladies at the time
For those of means and the modernistic trendy mind
The social butterfly the belle of the ball
Statuesque sensually curvaceous leggy and tall
The scent of Esther Lauder wafting from warm smooth skin
Silk and satin lingerie from gay Paris and Berlin
The visage cover girl of the high fashion magazine
Of the ideal look manicured and immaculately preened
Inspiring eye catching and debonair
The girl with the ‘It ‘girl glare.

A Sonnet
called

" Masquerade "
Written: by Tom Wright
8/4/00

Unalterable sins,
needing a blood covering.
Modernistic attitudes and views,
that diminish the cross' message
being directed toward sparse filled pews.
While amplifying ideas,
misdeeds, lay hidden behind a mask.
Surfacing stories of alienation,
a pretender brought to task.
Stripped now of facade,
exposed to all, is Satan's drool.
Masquerading in darkness,
all see, an unrepentant fool.
"And be sure, your sin will find you out" *

4-17- Silence

Psychedelic bubbles
in my cooling hot chocolate
The frothy surface like the
life giving neoprenic sludge
(hypothetical scientific origin)
Bubble’s spectrum slightly amiss
from rainbow hues
and universal in its colorful rotation
Observed, enthralled
for an unknown amount
but my worst fears arrived
in time only necessary motion
Alas there was no big-bang

Art?

Perhaps too post modernistic
to sell out an auditorium
but such latent haphazardness
was used on the
black and white
paint spattered
silver chair shadowed
by approaching set
and the anticipatory ants
who watched my mountainous meal
crumble
(dare I to defend what’s left)
No, for I can appreciate
the natural nature
of artistic corrosive disorder

Character

CHARACTER

Choices are by everyone made,
Many some will try to evade.
Heavenly values should be kept in sight,
While busily engaged in this life’s plight.
Awareness to what others see,
As you from temptation carefully flee.
Rigidly for principle stand,
	Rightly pursuing God’s great plan.
Amazed at the current modernistic view,
Amused at the way they success pursue.
Content to be considered “odd”
Choosing rather to simply follow God.
Thoughtful of a way that’s much better,
Trying to avoid this world’s fetters.
Ever cognizant of a Watchful Eye
Even when one thinks he’s so sly.
Remembering that it’s not what others see,
Results of character – what He knows us to be.

Premium MemberA Forgone Conclusion

The forgone days of my youth are spent
Replaced by memories of that day.
When my back was strong and unbent
Before time had left its mark this way.

My eyes, once sharp, now have dimmed
And spoken words oft need repeating.
I'm as a ship with her sails untrimmed
My deeds, most time, are self defeating.

Those things that once I took for granted
I now find difficult at this late day.
Modernistic views appear as slanted
And youthful morals are in deep decay.

The night comes quick but lingers long
And pain captures most sleep and rest.
The music I hear could be my swan song
Signaling me to live daily with zest.
