How about a One Pot Kitchen
Minimalist to the Max
First sort out Food
Millet - 5 grains
And a Clay pot
Rotate millets
Every 2 days
Soak and boil
Soak for 8 hrs.
In 5 times water
Leave it overnight
Thereafter COOK it !
first thing in the morning
Slow cook an hour on flame
Toss some greens and veggies
The porridge gets ready as base
With warm soup as the first course
add some crackling spice in Niger oil
Now we need just 1 more vessel ..that ..is ...all
I use a cast Iron ‘ kadahi’ from here on
Flame it hot ..cast iron pot...pour Ghee
Add some chopped onions spices et al.
The cooked millet porridge is tossed in
And voila you can make any no.of dish
And yes. NO compulsory need for Salt.
Now the real fun is ‘time management’
In a 24 hour cycle- Clay Pot is utilized
8 hrs soak 16 hrs to store the cooked
Lunch at 11 dinner by7 that’s 8+16 hr
(A 16 hr gap is suggested in between
2 big meals with light eat in evening)
Yes. Entire day the food stays fresh
+ Slight fermenting is encouraged
some add curd or coconut water
Sprouts ginger garlic turmeric
Boiled eggs potatoes sage
Vinegar Garnish

World Sparrow Day

Amidst the vast fertile lands
the little huts of the people stood,
Hoarding the millets from the field
To their feathery friends, they offered their yield

Savouring the millets and cereals
And sitting on the ceiling of corridors,
Making their nest close to the doors
Chirping throughout the day and night
They made our ancestors' days bright

Mingled like real joyful dudes
They even shared people's food
Wandering around with their family
They welcomed our guests warmly

They never felt shy , they never did cry
They never ever worried
But that's an old story

When the huts became royal flats,
When the fertile lands became empty plots
These little birds found no place to halt
they flew away, granting us, the feelings of guilt

But now, when people savvy their worth
Sweet sparrows, decide to reappear
Their comeback slams the extinction-myths
Their comeback cheers the earth

Reemerged our cute little friends
Is not it our onus to make their population ascend
Return their place to them
We will embrace peace then

Sapphire Sialia

Deep sky-blue, a neat bit darker on wings,
And a cool piece paler below,
With calm white under it
To feed and clean trees, from perches,
Male Mountain Bluebirds hunt insects,
Or toppingly while on the wing
With their long wings, hovering flight,
And marvelously quick dives, yet
Females are lovely brown tinged with grey
With cute tinges of pale blue in the wings
Pretty Tail likewise the wings
Andy and Sody are my old sparrow friends
What do you do in so windy winter? I asked
Sody said "her nest is the best" Andy agreed
I gave to them a pouch of grains- Asian pearl millets,
Some Indian fresh sesames as well as
A sack of Indonesian berry with Chinese natural brown sugar

The Rain

The sound of drums and bugles
Rent the air and reverberate;
The sound is not mere sound,
But, a distress call of farmers;
Who pray in great faith the God of rain
To send rain forthwith to
wet their parched lands and
To enable them timely sowing of
Wheat, rice and millets
The staple food of hungry millions
Their prayer being true and honest
Stemming out of unshakeable faith
Seemingly reaches the ears of the rain God,
As the sky suddenly becomes overcast,
With dark black clouds hanging,
That burst soon into torrential rain
Driving the innocent farmers into
A rapturous mood to dance and drench
In the God-sent rain, their hope of future
And that's the way they thank
Their God of rain, they call "Varuna"
Their saviour.

Joys of Spring

An onset of early spring,
Benevolence floats in air,
Colours full of romance,
Dancing greens to trance,
Eternal bliss !
Flowers bloom to enchant,
Golden millets of wheat,
Happiness will surely greet,
Iridescent bow in sky,
Jazzy kids jiggle,
Kites fly up so high,
Lovers craving for meets,
Meddle into the streets,
Natter and laugh out loud,
Oblivions the talk of the town,
Passion in heart grows,
Quaffs the sorrows,
Reminisce and reveal,
Salients of joy unveil,
Thrive to show the zeal,
Unending positivity,
Vows to fill the air,
Wanderers waited out for,
Xenons at the night shout,
Yearnings ride a high horse,
Zephyr sets the perfect flair !!

PING HAD A DOLLAR BILL

Ping had a Dollar bill got from the king Weevil,
                 Who loved nuts, beans, almonds, millets ,peas as a meal;
                                So Ping named the king- ‘Crackpea’;
                                      Queen? ‘Nut’, invariably
And gave the dollar to bee Toll and went downhill
