Premium MemberCrocodile Rock

My heart leapt with all joy, still does, with doe eyes.
Back in that day, before I knew Elton’s face, the sighs

of my sister and I, as we lie in our parents bed,
hours of tuning in to the sounds we were fed.

My heart leapt with all joy, as this Middlesex man
belted out this timebomb tune. Pop rock began.

Begins with innocence, new releases rocks repress,
with the leer of a crocodile on “Suzie’s tight dress.”

A young mind doesn’t fixate on innuendoes; doe eyes
recklessly leap and dance; with time, lyrics synthesize.

The moment I hear this tune, I’m back in time, inside
my Haviland skin, “hopping and bopping” amplified.

Finding the Words To Say

SPENT ALL NIGHT THINKING
WRITING
TRYING TO FIND
WORDS TO GO
TOGETHER
SOME WERE CUTE
SOME WERE CLEVER
BUT THEY DIDN'T MAKE ME FEEL
THEIR INSPIRATION
IT CAUSES ME TO WONDER
THINK BEYOND THE EDGES
LIKE GOING OFF TOPIC
WHAT I'M I TO DO
WHAT WILL THE PEOPLE SAY
I WHAT IT PERFECT
OR BEST ANYWAY
NO MATTER HOW HARD
I TRY
FROM ANY POSITION
THE TIMING AND RYMN
DON'T JIVE
IT'S LIKE SOMETHINGS MISSING
IT'S GETTING LATER
AND I
WHAT THIS COMPLETE
GO OUTSIDE
MAYBE SMOKE AND A BITE
TO EAT.
MIGHT SHAKE A NERVE
OR CAUSE ME TO CREATE
BETER WRAP THIS UP
IT'S GETTING LATE.

Matt Crossen

Matt was born in Middlesex in 1990 on 10th June,
In Stockton on Tees, where he works out, trains;
He’s a seven-a-side footballer and plays vigorously,
For the England CP team ‘cos of grandad’s strains.

He had a stroke at work - sore head, blind eyes -
In November 2013 which impaired his mobility,
Made his left side weaker and harder to control,
And which gave him a slight speech difficulty.

Doctors were not hopeful he’d play footy again,
But he stuck in at his exercises and his rehab,
So today he’s been to Rio, they came in 5th place,
Having scored in 2015 at the CP Worlds, fab.

New Jersey

What does it mean to me
New Jersey
It means smell and warmth
iI……. oops wrong sort of Jersey
Here we go start again …….

Was the home of the Lenape Indians
Till the Dutch and Swedes came their way
Followed by the British who named
It after a channel island off the UK

Was the home of many a battle
Including the American revolutionary war
Who tried to oust the British rabble
Not such an easy chore

New Jersey has many counties
21 was the latest score
Morris County was indeed a pleasant one
Rich in tradition and folk lore
                   THEN
Theirs Atlantic and Bergen, Burlington too
Camden, Cape May, Cumberland to name but a few
Essex, Gloucester and Hudson come next in line
Hunterdon, Mercer and Middlesex are doing just fine
Monmouth, Morris and Ocean is that enough
Pacific, Salem and Somerset I am now out of puff
Sussex, Union and Warren …….That is New Jersey
