her Scotland calf was a lovely color
I call him Marshmallow, she told us
Her parents had not named him
she thought this was a mean oversight
Her name was Scarlet and she was lovely
with her little white trainers, and her winsome ways
Her smile lit up the meadow, enticing the flowers to grin
She was a beauty with her bouncy ponytail
Marshmallow loved Scarlet too
He watched the house and ran when he saw her coming
They were a team, two kindred spirits
most did not realize they had met in heaven before arriving here.

If I had a marshmallow shooter, I would pelt my friend
Her craving for marshmallows would come to an end.
These soft squishy sticky sweets would be all over her lawn
And stuck to every sweater and dress she tried on
I would make sure there were marshmallows in her hair.
She would have to take them with her everywhere.
I would give her minis, and the colored ones too.
By the end of the day, she would despise this goo.

They hop into my sister’s garden
They are adorable! I say, watching their cheeks chew up her lettuce.
I know they are rodents
But they look like stuffies
One is almost pure white, I name him Marshmallow.
My sister is NAMING these bunnies! My sis yells at her husband.
Marshmallow is hopping around the flowers. Do bunnies eat them too?
Now they are eating my flowers! My sister shrieks.
But they are nearly tame. Her yelling does not strike fear.
They hop around to the cabbage patch
With zinnias in their mouths.

The little marshmallow
Was happy and bright
Until he learns
His faith for the night
He found out that
He was to be scorched and burn
A stick through his body
And constantly turn
So, he ran away and
Took others too
He was so scared
He didn’t know what to do
A stick through his body
What a horrible sight
To be burn on fire
For the rest of the night

Golden skin,
crispy and warm,
nestled on a stick,
a small ember of joy.
A dance above the flame,
sugar melting,
the sweet scent rising,
whispers of summer nights.
With a gentle pop,
the center flows,
a moment of bliss,
soft and sticky,
waiting to embrace the graham,
the chocolate,
the laughter of friends.
A toasted marshmallow,
simple pleasure,
a sweet memory,
captured in a bite.

I’ve always loved marshmallows
as a small child
the only reason I always ate
a bowl of Lucky Charms
but never tasted a s'more !
I think about marshmallows
as a bag of white, puffy assorted stars
as soft as cushions on a couch
where wishes came true
I even planted raisins on
their heads for eyes
and gave each of them
names of their own !

Loving his job is the marshmallow man, Mr. Hupp
Warming his body on the edge of the hot cocoa cup
It feels so great when the steam hits my petootsie he said.
Not only that, his wife said from her cup, but your face is red.
Aren’t you melting though? One of the neighbors asked, concerned.
It is a great way to leave this earth, he said, not on a spit being burned.

Here is a potion, solves it all.
Within a shot from being a marshmallow
Don’t think about the highest call,
To be so ordinary — hell no!
While viscous world surrounds us,
And stairs feel like the foggy clouds,
Let’s walk up to Olympic gods,
With ears full of the graceful sounds.
Then, jump into the sacred flame —
The proper goal for a marshmallow.
This is the love, this is the fame,
This is the end, my dear fellow.

My mind mainly meanders where I yearn –
A universe where I cannot return,
To lament my life’s unchangeable truth
And exhume choicest corpses of my youth.
Maundering 'midst marshmallow memories
Seeking past life to savor and restore.
Dully shuffling worn cards of yesterday,
To deal winning hands I can never play.
Marshmallow memories circling as pi,
Swirling with desires destined not to die.
Memory's garden does not need my care,
Mowing spring lawns that are no longer there.

Once upon a time was a princess
And a prince fell in love with her ways
In innocence did she impress
Enthralled was he when he would gaze
Upon her natural beauty and wonder
Her blue eyes cut straight to his heart
Her smile a cut above perfect
Her voice like no others impart
Eternal in sonic dimension
Angelic in echo and form
Captivating in subtle crescendo
Alluring and pleasantly warm

If the twilight welcomes the velvet sky,
If the light fades with a baby blue gloom,
Will it be the diamonds that shine up high?
Will they shine with the marshmallow moon?

My biggest most gigantic fear, the child Edward said
Is of Mr. Stay Puff Marshmallow man; I want him dead.
The mother who had been sorting out her husband’s shed
Did not know what to say; this was the blame of Ed.
You obviously do not know what you have done
This Ghost Buster binge watching has hurt your son.
She watched them together watch it one more time.
They clutched each other and screamed in rhyme.
Mr. Stay Puff Marshmallow is a terror said Ed.
I want him to die, his son said. I want him dead!
Mommy realized at this moment it was a bonding thing.
So, she tiptoed out quietly, and did not change a thing.

"Marshmallow Heart"
Soft touch
She’s a soft touch
Big cat’s lost.
Black and grey,
Striped and marbled,
marking steps wet
Unfriendly,
in an unfriendly
neighbourhood
Floors
10
A life spent in the pen
Soft touch
She’s a soft touch
The right bower waits
watching gently, stroking
a Marshmallow Heart
The hidden Jack smiles
somewhere in the Stack
Somewhere in the Kitty
a Marshmallow Heart
melting
Small life
Big city
