I remember the man.
He is the best friend that one could ever have,
he truly knows me like the palms of his hands;
through thick and thin he is always there for me -
I remember the man.
When I come up with lines that perfectly rhyme
he says “Gee, you are the greatest poet alive!”;
when I mess up ‘It’s good for the competition’ -
the man is my biggest fan.
He is my toughest critic and taskmaster,
not content to see me rest on my laurels,
but he does it with love shining on his face -
how I love the man.
After each fall he is there to pick me up,
when I’m up he pushes me even higher;
to him there is nothing that I could not do -
I appreciate the man.
To him this fool could not make any mistake
yet when I’m down he rushes to lend a hand,
forcing me to rise up and fight like a man -
I remember the man.
When I sin he says “It’s alright, just move on
but make a pledge to do good next time, son,
shape up, you can be a much better person” -
that man, he understands.
At times when I’m too drunk he sobers me up,
when I forget to zip up, he rushes to zip me up,
when I stink he drags me to the nearest shower -
he cares for me, that man.
Through every heartache he is there to listen,
through each pain he is the first one to worry,
in my triumphs he advertises my every glory -
how can I thank the man?
When I was younger, brash and impulsive,
he would whisper “Slow down a bit, kiddo”
but now that I’m older he says to work faster -
I can’t understand the man.
In my youth 'You’ll make Cary Grant insecure'
now that I’m old 'You look better than Redford!'
His belief in me is something I’ve never seen -
God, how I love the man.
As I face a new day I pause to give praise
to the most devoted friend that I ever had;
thank you, buddy, for being there for me -
you're a beautiful man.
I remember me.
This land belongs to Buhari,
he has the financial keys to every land here!
You must not urinate here unless you
are a cow, beware of military' Dogs,
they're watching.
You must not answer nature's call here,
this region is for grazing of the first citizens,
do you expect them to perceive your urine?
Go home to your mother's other room,
there's another room for you to wee-wee
& there's room for you to communicate with nature.
your father has warned you not to see
the sun in darkness,
Your mother said you should learn to
respect every house that has politicians
that chopped your smiles into gloom of lurking bodies.
Why Urinate behind Aso rock Villa & you called yourself a patriotic civilian?
Don't you know that our leaders are dinning
there in bits of luminious laughter?
They are planning on how to give one square meal per day to already satisfied children.
They are arranging the ten thousand to be shared in the market tomorrow.
The sound of your patapata could be a distraction!
I have not find the right hand to parcel my anger on you!
you have made the foams thereof to meet at the confluence of mirage,
what do you expect Obasanjo to say of this?
I know each call is a torment and misery
painting a portrait of how gullible our land is!
Do not urinate here unless you're a politician!
Unless you've learnt the act of deceiving people,
unless you have fought in the National Assembly & jumped from one party to another,
unless your hands are stained with blood;
do not urinate here, zip up, hoodie...
Let's remind ourselves of next levels connecting the air with the silk memories with which the world hold each other in arms.
Remember, the fine is your head if you
ever pour out your proud liquid here!

How did the phrase “Spitting Image” originate
Seems kinda gross to me
Now here's something I've often wondered about
Do Queens expectorate... surely Kings do
For that matter, they pass wind too
Some people... okay some men...
Make a big production out of passing wind
Lifting one leg and doing a slow fist pump
Followed by a “whoooooeeeeee
That surely was one of my best ones ever!”
Strange how us so-called sophisticated humans
Sometimes pretend the foul odor was perpetrated
By someone else in the room
Suspiciously looking around holding our nose
And waving our other hand saying
“Wow! Something must have died up there!”
Bodily functions are as normal as apple pie
Uh, that's not really a good analogy!!!
We used to call it “passing wind”
Now a much more sophisticated definition has evolved
According to the dictionary, the word “fartology”
Is simply defined as the act of loudly expelling air
Through the aperture in one's derriere
You are not far from the end
Another sign that you ain't no spring chicken
Is when you repeat the same sentence twice in a row
Is when you repeat the same sentence twice in a row
Also when you forget to zip up after you pee
What's worse though is when you forget to zip down
When everything hurts and what doesn't hurt doesn't work
It feels like the morning after and you haven't been anywhere
Your knees buckle but your belt won't
You sink your teeth into a steak and they stay there
You sing along with elevator music
You have a dream about prunes
Your nose and ears are hairier than your head
In dog years you're dead
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional
And finally... inside every old person is a young person
Wondering what the hell happened!

BLUE BY YOU
What’s Blue by me?
Butterfly wings,
the Blue Moth in flight,
stilettos, suede shoes,
for dancing at night.
Moonbows and rainbows,
in the spectrum of blue,
the eyes of your love,
when he’s laughing at you!
Purple Lupine, Periwinkle,
and Violets can’t be!
Forget-me-nots, Bluebells,
are true bluer to me.
Oceans, rivers,
blue lagoons in the day,
on a raft or a sailboat,
to blue Half Moon Bay.
Lapis, sapphires,
oyster shells from Cape Cod,
Bettas and Dolphins,
are deep blue in a pod.
Blue Willow, blue Fenton,
Blue Delft on their stems,
Cobalt blue glasses,
for wine with your friends.
You’re singing the Blues,
when your down in the mouth,
your blue in a mood,
if your spirits go south.
Blueberry muffins,
blue cheese, and blue crab,
and blueberry buckle,
that’ll run up your tab.
A Blue Footed Booby,
who’s feet look too cold,
a Bluebird, and Bluejay,
whose terribly bold.
Something blue for a wedding,
sing alone with this moon,
“working blue” in a gig,
when a blue moon’s not soon!
Blue bloods are said,
to be noble within,
but the silver in spoons
made them blue in their skin.
Blue dragons and Smurfs
and a painted Blue Boy,
stuffed hippos, and Eeyores,
are gifts of great joy.
We can’t forget,
those blue denim jeans,
we lay down, to zip up,
unless we are lean.
Baby and Navy,
and Cornflower blue,
Steel and Teal,
they’re vivid too.
Royal with Azure,
they share a bright blue,
Sky and Powder,
are softer in hue,
Electric and Space,
or a Midnight milieu,
these are my colors,
now what’s blue by you.

It is a brisk seventeen degrees. Some are complaining
at the 40 mile-an-hour winds, dandy
Winter tornado in Saint Louie. I am in my
giant brown recliner, wearing doffers, and
My zip up stripped zebra suit pajamas with the ears,
eating chocolate candy.
Staying away from the phone which rings
incessantly with reverse mortgage offers.
Icicles dripping off the tree, glistening blowing snow
on the ground, bird feeders buried,
Ice on the driveway, which my slightly-used
dare-devil husband is itching to go out and master,
My traitorous hazel eyes roll with amusement,
remembering how last time he scurried
Back into the house, away from the frozen tundra,
a cheetah could not have been faster.
Sophie, our fat manager, an ebony cocker, with the
white star under her chin,
Is next to me, marathon farting,
out of every butt pore, cyber- ability to snore.
She is sitting next to me, pushing me out of our chair,
more hoggish than sister ever has been.
Second snow day in a row, worse blizzard
in Kansas City, the white fluffy-s simply did pour.
Out of the sky for ten hours at least, I watched in amazement
it gave me great peace.
I am looking out the window right now,
watching my cardinals take turns at the feeder.
There are three identical feeders,
but they fight over the one that faces the east.
I sit here in my zebra pajamas glory,
The big, bad recliner-chair-leader.
Heyyy friend, since we always UP to something, I wanna give a tribute to the word UP, because everyday of our life we do something meaningful with the word up.
So with that being said, I wanna know, what’s UP with you?
How many of these UPs did you do today?
hurry up, stand up, start up, write up
raise up, speed up, mark up, fill up
come up, pull up, step up, climb up
drive up, straighten up, cheer up, tear up
rise up, lift up, run up, clean up, buckle up
chin up, pin up, put up, shut up
get up, sit up, hit up, spit up
woke up, broke up, spoke up
boot up, toot up, man up, hand up
chew up, blew up, screw up
walk up, talk up, hype up, type up
dress up, mess up, fold up, hold up
wake up, make up, break up
toss up, boss up, lay up, pay up
look up, hook up, took up, shook up
tighten up, lighten up, wrap up, strap up
save up, gave up, head up, made up
lick up, stick up, pick up
slip up, whip up, rip up, zip up
stock up, lock up, knock up
go up, show up, grow up, throw up, blow up
but never ever slow up
pop up, hop up, mop up, stop up
burn up, turn up, stuck up, luck up, f’k up
heat up, eat up, beat up, feet up
back up, pack up, rack up, jack up, stack up
but never ever slack up
I did a lot of these UPs today, but most importantly, I Stayed up and Prayed up…
Well, my “time UP,” lol
So what’s up? Can you think of any I missed?
I wonder if it’s that hard?
I am young and full of years.
I walk this beach every day and watch
The tides come in, and drive back out.
Birds fly gracefully above my head and
The breeze blows sand into my face.
My feet sink into the damp out skirt of the shore
And I splash around in the water.
It’s not easy to come across death and not respond
In some sort of way. I am full of energy
And you lay by my side faded away.
Even though you are only a bird
You deserve a proper burial. Your wings have
Insects circling around them. Buz-buz and zzzz.
They are waiting for me to
Go. But I can’t just leave you here.
What if it was me laying here dead?
I would like to think just because I am human
And you are an animal, we are similar.
We both share the same air,
We both need nourishment, we both live and
We both die. I’d like to think if I were you someone
On this planet would care.
You once flew with that sun kissed colored wings
I walk with these porcelain painted legs
As I take off my white zip- up sweater and show you respect
I gently cover you before the rest of the inspectors come.
How you ended up along this beach
Lifeless and deserted, I shall never know.
Maybe you were sick? Or it was just your time.
But I will give you a proper burial
It’s a seed that I must sow
Showing respect for a life
As the tide comes and it goes.

Every time I sneeze or cough
Either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!
Shouldn't be a big surprise
It's a definite sign we ain't no young chicken no more
When you grunt just putting on your socks
It's the ninth inning with two men out
If you have to turn up the volume on TV
Till it shatters the wine glasses in your dining room credenza
You are not far from the end
Another sign that you ain't no spring chicken
Is when you repeat the same sentence twice in a row
Is when you repeat the same sentence twice in a row
Also when you forget to zip up after you pee

There was a grasshopper in my porridge, and he had stopped hopping,
But luckily I found him before he was one hundred percent gone.
I fished him out with a silver spoon, and his eyes popped open,
He looked hopeful.
His eyes were yellow, but tender.
Not buggy or anything, no offense.
There was a grasshopper on the counter now, and I gave him mouth-to-mouth.
His little chest was heaving, and he looked grateful.
I knew he was socialized, for he closed his eyes,
He looked respectful.
His breathing started to settle down.
Not disgusting or anything, no kidding.
There was a grasshopper on my sewing table, hopping around, clapping his claws.
His happy chirps led me to believe he knew what I was about.
I made him an entire winter wardrobe, it being winter.
He looked dashing
His black fuzzy zip-up suit looked lovely,
Not too tightly-fitted, just right actually.
There was a grasshopper once upon a time, named Poindexter.
He had summer clothes, winter clothes, and spring clothes.
He hopped outside one fine summer day, and was stolen
By faeries,
My perfect little man.
So he never got the fall clothes.
They sit on my sewing machine, waiting.
How do you pull yourself up from imploding
pick up the pieces and super glue fingers
back onto hands which have shattered in dreaming
all that a moment of laughter can stand?
How do you separate time from occurrence
shoulder the limelight while wearing a shadow
just like a coat over thin skinned security
shivering while pushing the moment to end?
I am not one built for flimsy odd wizardry
zipping out one skin to zip up the next
When someone's got something to say then just say it
for heavier words make for lighter of chest
You are not one built for unguarded glances
bright in the sun where each eye scar can show
You hold the world like a marble in pockets
a depth of deception that both of us know
So how do you find every morsel of body
you had before I came in storms through your door
shooting your countenance up to the rafters
and leaving you scattered and just wanting more?
How do you whisper 'good-bye now, I'm leaving'
pack up your goods and tiptoe with the breeze
which blew in at once at the moment we met
and continues to set you in sunlight and ease?
