Things Missing Somewhere in This House
My birth bertificate…
A box of needed, new bank checks…
Both of our wedding rings…
My Waterman fountain pen…
After 4 decades, at least 3 doz. of Jim’s odd socks & 2 doz.
Of mine…
2 Roku remotes, 1 somewhere
upstairs & 1 here downstairs…
(Worrying) The hand-written letters I received from
Thornton Wilder & Samuel Beckett…
My nonchalance about tornadoes especially after last month when Jim’s
sis-ilaw’s home was destroyed in Laurel County…
(Most tragically) Half of our hearts gone — after our 2 sons (brothers whom we adopted when they were aged 2 & 4)…And were so completely adored by us for 14 years, but who were
Then,
On one horrid day, driven off by their birth-mother (in her suddenly arrived car)…Back to SC where they were born…And since when they’ve not contacted us…
20 years of our youthful daydreams…
(Woefully) The bottom half of my right leg, which somehow returned here with me from the hospital after the surgeon took it 17 months ago, & which in
painful phantom screams,
keeps pleading
to be re-joined…
(Especially & Thankfully lost) any distance that once exiisted
between me and Jesus…
"Roses represents love,
Violets represents compaionship,
Hands are held together
Through disruptive days and nights"
Handled that Rose with loving care
Made its counterpart, Violet, complete
The hands were held longer
Than the hairs of ones own head
Had blooming flower beds grown
Around their feet without worrying fear
Then,
When the Violet wasn't blooming anymore
And the same hands that were held broken,
The Rose became torn into emotional clouds
Of thunder and rain
Its red bloom fainted into the shallow darkness
Of its own destruction
"Why has it to be Violet? Please take me instead!"
The Torn Rose fell to its stem and pleaded,
But it would take a whole year
Till Violet will grow into the same blossom
It was already heartbreaking for the Torn Rose
And too heavy for the lost of Violet
In a matter of weeks,
Torn Rose couldn't handle the suffering
And let its stem and leaves fall onto the ground
So that when Spring came again
Both Violet and Rose can be together again
Laughter, smiles, running about, learning what flying a kite high above the clear blue sky, making sand castles in the warm sand, running through sprinklers in the hot july sun.
These are some of the warm fun things that all children are about, eating hot dogs, snow cones, ice cream cones, wandering about without a care in the world.
NOt worrying about who does or doesnt like their clothes, if they get picked last for a game. If society accepts them for who they are, children are like birds, they may be able to fly higher than others, but they are all part of our world, and they all have their special place in our lives, and their own special beauty that deserves to be seen.
THey are our future, how special they are and if they smile, laugh or have tears falling down their face, its in our hands, how we see them, is up to us..
Be irresponsible
by acts of third parties,
but responsible for
your actions ... but not
overdo...
Be a crazy
controlled or a
seriously uncontrolled,
after all being too right
does not create the superior world ...
Do not be ashamed of the ridiculous
the shameless man can have
things that the shy man does not
achieve ... expose yourself fearless,
dare to say silly things ... one day
You will learn...
Who does not seek, nothing
gains ..., who is quiet
Do not drink or eat. Be worried.
without worrying ... be a donor
but do not run out, turn back
and repeat ...
Who gives receives ...
who hides himself
suffers ... be sophisticated
being simple, complicated
uncomplicated
Assume what you not achieved,
or understood, be aware why...
teach what you learned so that
be stimulated to awareness ...
Modify yourself, but stay the
same essentially ...
Be audacious on challenges, be ready
to lose, to learn and
to win ... Lose shyness,
lose your fear ... laugh at fear,
be superior to modesty ... but
do not abuse or abuse yourself,
do not harm anyone
with your postures,
otherwise be an example.
Be sure that
this world is yours ... in partnership
with everyone ... be the owner
of yourself...
Find yourself, meet and
live life with will
to live in a nicely way ...!
Throw Them Away
By David J Walker
How often I saw him
Sitting,
Smoking
Drinking coffee
Early in the morning
Thinking
Worrying
Perhaps praying?
I cannot say
He would extract an
unfiltered Camel from a
half empty pack ,
the second left over from
each yesterday
Pinched between his lips
He would strike a match
the way he had done it
since he was 10
The sulfur and thin paper
And dried tobacco
Each with its own
distinct aroma
Fill the air with an innocent
Poison
A sophisticated flare
Of maturity
Mixed with percolating
black coffee
I wondered why
He rose so early
Every day
Just to sit in the dark
At the kitchen table
The glow of his lit
Cigarette
The only light
Commanding the complete quiet
Unnatural to house with kids
The “Late in life”
Would come too soon
At the invitation of emphysema
Among the things gathered
To give back to the family
Was a half pack of
Unsmoked cigarettes
Throw them away
I said

How Could I have Been So Blind
How could I have been so blind
Not to see what is happening in these times
All I saw was dark
Lord your word and love
Created a spark
While putting joy in thy heart
It’s sad the world teaches to live against you
Our Savior that is pure and true
How could I have been so blind
But the world had taught
Me to live moment for its time
Chasing pleasures and world’s delights
Thank you Lord
For coming and giving me sight
Teaching me to turn from sin
For my soul I shall win
Taking it one day at a time
Not worrying of what tomorrow shall find
Knowing you are in control
of the past, present, and future to come
I thrive on your word to
Make me uproot and sprout
For you take away all doubt
You have shown me
One thing that will remain
This is your word and name
As you will always reign
Warnings are given
School schedules on hold
Evacuation notice
Echoes of years ago
Rushing to Jounieh port
Under cover of night
The harbor being shelled
“NO lights
NO lights!!!!
Not even a cigarette
Get on the speed boat
Hurry…HURRY!"
Cyprus…a blessed few hours away
If only we can speed away
On this fastest speed boat in the world
Sent to rescue
I’m going to be sick
Waves hitting the windows
As we listen for the sound of whistling bombs
Listening
Waiting to be blown out of the water
Will we make it?
Will we make it????
Palpable tension in the suffocating darkness
Now…TODAY
Memories struggling to gain attention
"Restrict movement
No again unnecessary trips
War is around the corner
Be careful!"
I’m scared
But mostly....
I’m tired
The sounds of war…
have not yet died out from my ears
The sights of devastation…
have not yet left my vision
The fear of death
has not yet left my heart
And now….
It resurfaces
Pulling out of the tomb
The ghost of war passed
NOW…new threats
New dreams on hold
Lives again on HOLD
ON HOLD
We were not meant to dream
We were not meant to live
Free
I’m sick
I’m sick of hearing about it
I’m sick of the world being silent
I’m sick of worrying about where to go…
I’m sick of thinking of those who will die
And the country that will be left
In utter anarchy and chaos
As the others in the region
This region of bloodshed and strife…
“There shall be wars and rumors of wars
Nation shall rise against nation
Because iniquity shall abound
The love of many shall wax cold
There shall be earthquake
Pestilence
Distress of Nations
Famine
Signs in the sun, moon, and stars
When these things begin to come to pass
LOOK UP
FOR YOUR REDEMTION DRAWETH NIGH.”
These are the signs of the times
He is coming
He is at the door….
Heaven will burst open
And He will come triumphant
AND EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM....
Nothing secret about His coming
ARE YOU READY
FOR THE COMING PRINCE OF PEACE?
Then finally, FINALLY
Worry and fear
The bloodshed
And every war
WILL CEASE….
FINALLY
Oh, LORD JESUS, FINALLY
We can have
P E A C E!
Eileen Manassian Ghali
Tie your shoes
Step to the side
Let the gentlemen
Past you bye
You think it's
Funny slouching
around
I wish you'd
Start thinking
and ask me why
get it right the first time
Or get close enough
Don't clutter your thoughts
when sing
Steer your audience down
When they applaud
Thank them for coming
give praise to the Lord
Make them laugh before
Intermission
Change you clothes
make sure nothings missing
make sure everyone knows
there lines
stop worrying you'll
do just fine
tune the orchestra with the one
the curtain call has just begun
break a leg, do your thing
your ground singers
are the real thing
How easily he handles things
Pouring out his joy
Without worrying over nothings
Just like a faithful busyboy
Who keeps away his anger
Though burning and crazy
Yet, it affects no one, not even an abuser
Gift is that to whoever finds it
Dear pastor, live well and stay safe
As you rock it softly together in spirit
Even when Corona stops not to chafe
As you keep enduring for Christ
Be no weary of world's trouble well spiced
Humanity shall return
To the glory of God which worth the burn
Thanks be to God for His gift in you
Stop not been genuine and true
Congratulations on your day
Have a blast setting off delay...
