It was Pentacost Sunday when the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus' men
all gathered together in one place cloven tongues bestowed to them
it was a glorious sight to see everyone on one accord
now under the influence of the Holy Spirit sent by the Lord of Lords
The gift of the Holy Spirit will make a difference in your life
to be under the influence now as a true disciple of Jesus the Christ
redeeming the time that you have now full of the things God desires
to be not drunk with wine but under the influence of all He inspires
Don't get it twisted God wants us to be happy, live fully and have fun
He doesn't want us to be miserable as Christians but to live life like His Son
to always be praying, never straying from the Holy Spirit which dwells within
for as Humans we are those leaky vessels that need replenishment again and again
The gift of the Holy Spirit is that indispensable possession we need to hold in
for its under the influence of the Holy Spirit that halts from falling into sin
the Holy Spirit will convict you and let you know that if your behavior
is not of a godly nature and doesn't line up with our Savior
the Holy Spirit will convert you and change your perspective and outlook on life
the Holy Spirit will counsel you and show you how to live godly in Christ
for you to be the best witness of the Living Gospel
now under the influence knowing that nothing with God is impossible
As the world has nothing to offer you that is good, godly or right
and eventually may lead one to steal, to kill and destroy everything in sight
let the Holy Spirit correct you and guide you under its spell
let the influence of the Holy Spirit come in and kick out all the hell
To be convicted, converted, counseled, corrected
and now comforted by the power of the Holy Ghost
now a disciple, a witness, a child in Christ
living under the influence of the Lord of Hosts
living under the influence, under the influence of the Lord my God
living my life as He requires with the Holy Spirit entrenched in my heart
anger is not always a sin
if it's righteous indignation
Biblically anger is that emotion which often compels
us to change our ways so we won't wind up in hell
anger is acceptable as self-defense of others or moral principles are on the line
but an anger that is self-serving is a sin all of the time
for it tends to leave hurt, it tends to leave pain and it tends to leave devastation
selfish anger leads to misplaced affection and/or displaced aggression
it produces feelings of strong displeasure and/or antagonistic behavior
the rage and resentment which goes against the very teachings of Our Savior
the physical effects of selfish anger carry the spirit of unforgivingness
but righteous indignation is the thing that we all need to stress
to be displeased with the way that others are being treated
to be upset over oppression, suppression and the way people are being defeated
we need to handle our anger in way that God can take control
and understand with a change of heart we now have a Biblical goal
to be honest in our communication in the way that we talk
to stay calm in the midst of the storm is the way to walk the walk
to attack the problem and not the person who is in the midst of the trouble
to attack the sin and not the sinner who is in the midst of the struggle
and above all in the spirit of kindness and love we need to act
and never allow the enemy to cause you to over-react
the Bible states "be not hasty in holding resentment in"
you need to let go and let God show you the way to win
don't let the danger of anger ever put you on a defensive attack
recognize God in all things and you'll stay on the right spiritual track
for the enemy will try to use and abuse you and have you disconnected
from the power supply that is Our God which has you spiritually corrected
as anger seems to always rests in the bosom of fools
so never let the enemy attempt to take you to school
so don't respond, don't resent and above all never over-react
stay calm, stay focused on the sin and never let the danger of anger distract
how does anyone go from being good to being great?
what is required in order for someone to elevate?
to be an agent or an angel of the Lord our God
to have been designated because of the righteousness in your heart
blessed to be a blessing when you answer God's call
from ordinary to extraordinary on your faith now standing tall
pressed into service and now affirmed by the Holy Ghost
moved beyond your comfort zone to where you're needed the most
in the process of transition increasing in your faith
accelerated from just good into someone who is great
whenever God speaks to you He will make mention
of what He requires of you and what are His intentions
He will use you as a conduit to carry the currency of His word
to tell people the gospel truth the likes of which they've never heard
and when God compels you to move forth you won't need a map nor a GPS
just follow His directions as your journey is the true test
just don't worry about the where, the when, the what, the how nor the why
as long as you Who's in control and that on His word you can rely
and wherever God leads you it will be some place for the better
just make sure you follow His heavenly navigational system to the letter
blessed to be a blessing to faith your way along
just don't wander down unmarked roads that may steer you wrong
you're now a faith walker and not just a faith talker
to let your passion for Christ be first and foremost in your life
to let your trust and belief in the Lord God be the thing that jump starts your heart
and now motivated by the Holy Spirit you will come to find
that the word of the Lord God has completely saturated your mind
blessed to be a blessing to go from good to great
fired up, pumped up and passionate in your faith
to aspire with the desire to be a blessing to your sisters and brothers
to motivate and not hesitate in making disciples of others
to go from good to great blessed to be a blessing
to adhere to the instructions that the Lord our God is stressing
willing to step out on faith and leave all you know and possess
trusting in God to guide you and in turn by Him to be blessed
going from good to great by increasing in your faith
blessed to be a blessing by the goodness you now demonstrate
as the legacy lives on we're continuing to make it great
in celebration of Berean Baptist's 158th
a monumental journey that many would find impressing
but we at Berean just simply count our blessings
for there's no need to brag nor is there a need to boast
as we are only still in existence by the grace of the Holy Ghost
for 158 years we've stayed in prayer and preparation
by giving all the glory to God for our church's continuation
when Gideon went before the Lord God
and then asked the Lord to do His part
God then told Gideon there are a few things he needed to understand
if he desired the Lord God to place victory in his hands
you must be willing to step out on faith
and willing to sacrifice whatever it takes
you must faithfully believe in the cause
for the Kingdom is at stake and there's no time to stop and pause
you need to willing trust in God's instructions
and lean not towards your own for it may lead to destruction
you need to be willing to follow in line
and keep the Lord God foremost on your mind
you need to simply kneel down to God and pray
that as long as you have a will God will find a way
trusting in the Lord and no longer stressing
having no more fears and just counting your blessings
you need total faith and trust plus blind belief
that God will answer your prayers and give you relief
trusting in the Lord to always provide
believing that He is always firmly by your side
understanding that the Lord God is fully aware
of everything that you are going through down here
praying to the Lord and sincerely confessing
repenting and atoning and counting your blessings
chosen by the hand of God and now appointed
touched by the word of God and now anointed
in the presence of the Holy Spirit that has spurred you on
a new disciple of Christ now renewed and reborn
praying for yourself and everyone else who is around
lifted up by the word of God and now planted on higher ground
now living a life of substance and not mere window dressing
making it great in 2008 by simply counting your blessings
a portrait is a picture or a likeness of an object, person or place
a rendering, a representation of something in all of its grace
but a portrait of a Pastor is more than just a facade
it's not an image of what man thinks but a reflection of God
people come with their own agendas about what a Pastor should portray
but it's not his clothes nor his cars it's the message from God he conveys
a Pastor should be pictured as a faithful speaker who reveals the truth in his speech
an under shephard of our Lord Christ and it's the Gospel that he'll preach
a Pastor should be drawn as a mentor to his members and circumspect in his behavior
a prayer partner in conjunction with the Holy Spirit and Jesus our Savior
a Pastor should be an image of one who comforts all in their times of need
a teacher of the Gospel who in his flock tries to plant God's righteous seeds
a delineation of an obedient servant leader who stands firmly on God's Holy word
and he should not be the subject of gossip nor the pettiness of this world
a portrait of a Pastor should be a comment on his spiritual calling
an anointed man whom God will use to catch us when we've fallen
a portrait of a Pastor should be an exhibit of compassion, wisdom and respect
a display of leadership, kindness, humility and intellect
it should be a picture of a potter who tries to mold us into godly shape
a silhouette of a counselor who doesn't judge but advises when we make mistakes
a portrait of a Pastor should be a reflection of the image of our Lord Christ
a man who will always allow the Holy Spirit of God guide and rule his life
When our lives come crashing down
around us like a hurricane
the Lord will build us back up
and restore us once again
and as he picks us up piece by piece
all our hurt and pain he will release
he will melt us and mold us
and make us even stronger than before
and our broken lives he will restore. Amen
ISA 57:18 I have seen his ways, but I will heal him;
I will guide him and restore comfort to him,
JER 30:17 But I will restore you to health
and heal your wounds,'
declares the LORD,
1PE 5:10 And the God of all Grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you
have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast

then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather
you again from all the nations where he scattered you. 4 Even if you have been banished to
the most distant land under the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you and
bring you back. 5 He will bring you to the land that belonged to your fathers, and you will
take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.
there was this game that we all played when we were little tots
we would pull off a flower's petals while saying, he loves me, he loves me not
but if we were to play this game in regards to ourselves
would we be honest in saying, I love me not, I love myself?
the act of self love is inferred in the word of God
to love oneself as God has loved you from the very start
for love is a verb it's an action projected towards a person, place or thing
but to love oneself what does it comprise of and what does it truly mean?
so if loving oneself is a given, why do people commit suicide?
if loving oneself is normal behavior, why do people have self-loathing inside?
are you in the loving zone? are you capable of loving at all?
are you in the loving zone and can you respond to God's call?
to love yourself as God loves you
to have a respect for yourself that comes shining through
now Jacob was in love with Rachel so for her hand he labored seven long years
but when it came time her father took advantage of Jacob
who was drunk on good cheer
Laban gave Leah to wife instead as she was his eldest daughter
Laban said this is our custom but for seven more years I'll give you the other
now Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah but no progeny did she give to him
but Leah unloved by her husband provided him with six healthy children
but God loved Leah as she was a devoted disciple of Christ
and that is why He blessed her with the gift to give life
never let the devil in your ears whisper any disbelief or doubt
love yourself as God loves you and it will somehow always work out
do i love me? do i love me not? that is the question in life
do i love myself with a passion like my Savior Jesus the Christ
now when God blesses you while you're in the loving zone
don't allow demonic influences to come between you and the Heavenly Throne
as it's all about the right relationships that you develop in this life
to love yourself, to love others and to have the love of Christ
Form:
a woman who had been crippled and infirm for eighteen years long
had a chance encounter with Jesus who healed and made her strong
that woman had been in bondage she was bound up in her life
now on the road to freedom touched by the hand of Jesus the Christ
there are many forms of bondage that bind us up and hems us in
physical, psychological and spiritual are just three of them
physical bondage is to be restrained be it in jail of a relationship of abuse
psychological bondage is to be caught up in stuff which we can't mentally refuse
like when the cel phone is closer to your hand than the word of God
in bondage to technology with your head and not your heart
but spiritual bondage is the strongest for it binds up your heart, mind and soul
it's when the devil has taken up residence and is now in total control
it constrains you so much that it obliterates your identity
unrecognizable to the world, your friends and your family
bound up to your detriment where you can see no way out
limited in your vision of what true freedom is all about
yet that crippled woman understood that what she needed to do in her life
was to continue to go to the house of God and pray for the healing touch of Christ
for eighteen long years she returned to that temple day after day
believing in her heart that God would somehow make a way
now set free from her infirmities able to walk upright
standing before the Savior her burden now free from sight
so to whom or what are you bound? what is it that hinders you in life?
you need to follow the roadmap to freedom by seeking the Lord Christ
just don't get caught up in pity parties hold fast to what you've prayed
straighten up and set your eyes on God as you travel on your way
you've been pardoned from your sins by the power of the blood
you're now a child of Abraham wrapped up in God's love
the roadmap to freedom from disgrace to dignity
the roadmap to freedom no longer in spiritual obscurity
for God has stepped into the midst of your situation and taken control
no longer bound up not broken by sin for He has made you free and whole
with loyalty, love and devotion that crippled woman was no longer bound
standing tall, touched by the hand of God true freedom in her now found
What do you do when your world falls apart?
What do you do when someone breaks your heart?
And you wish for all the gray clouds to part
And bring sunshine in your own world to chart.
What do you do when your world falls apart?
And in your life nothing seems to go right
But still in the dark of your soul with all might you fight,
For all you hold dear, and in all you believe deep in your heart.
What do you do when your world falls apart?
And there all alone you sit, and, you cry to God in the dark,
And your heart is just bleeding from all the many arrows and darts,
That have wounded you, and make your heart and soul fall again apart.
What do you do when your world falls apart?
I'd say to you just get up and make a new start
And get in touch with God and this time heart to heart
And in God's name, also pray and leave behind then all the dark.

President Barak Obama has an economic stimulus plan
to move the nation out of this financial quicksand
with foreclosures and jobs lost the situation is depressing
over $700 billion to get us out of this recession
but I know that all my help comes from the Lord
and God won't let me write a check that I cannot afford
the God who made Heaven and Earth has never let me down
the God who created me won't let me financially drown
He is my source, He is my strength, He is my right hand
and since money is not the god I serve I trust in His stimulus plan
for I know my God is able to keep food on my table
I know my God will always come through whenever a bill is overdue
I know my God is up to the task to give me all that I ask
God's spiritual stimulus plan is my daily bread
infused with His promises that keep me spirit-fed
and no matter how dire my circumstance
I turn to God and He extends me a branch
for greater is He who is in me than what is in this world
and greater is what He has promised me than anything from man I've heard
He suffered for me, He died for me, His blood was on the cross
there's nothing He won't do for me so I won't suffer anymore loss
the joy of the Lord is now in my hands
my God's spiritual stimulus plan
and even when my back's against the wall
the God I serve won't let me fall
and even if my 401K has diminished
the God I serve will replenish
and even if my stock portfolio tanks
the God I serve has a full spiritual bank
exceedingly, abundantly and above all
the God I serve will answer my call
in all things, in anything and in everything
there's nothing that my God cannot change
my God is able and on His word I do stand
trusting in Him to revive me with His spiritual stimulus plan
