Toothache !!.....
footle-note ..
The author would like to confirm that no deaths occured , during the creation of this piece. All
suffering was kept to a minimum,as the surgery was sound-proofed .Pain and suffering ,
caused to waiting patients , was due to being forced to read 3yr old mags. Seemingly the
news was less dire back then. All enamel&blood stained swabs were dumped in the
appropriate utensils,as per Geneva Convention(section ix, site xxxiv). The cleansing of soiled
underwear took place ,under supervision, with enviroment friendly detrgents & all offending
materials disposed of , in accordance with the KyotoAgreement(section mlx11).
Must dash !! , as I have to visit that other sadist, the vet ,with our cat.He is due for the snips!
( the cat , not the vet ).. Here Tom..Pshhhwshhh ..
One of my Trolls got a toothache, and I suddenly began to realize, so wise…
No one had had a checkup, since they had come to be with us, poor guys!
Now this proposed a question…Where to go, to a Doctor, Dentist, or a Vet?
Yes, for Dragon, definitely a vet! But who’d be crazy enough, to be so beset?
For the Trolls, that didn’t seem quite right, so we continued to look, farther yet.
But even Grandpa Troll, who is so old and wise, didn’t know, whom we should get.
We looked on the worldwide web, where a Doctor said; we could come, right away!
His name was Dr. Frankenstein, ‘Sorry, we can’t make it, exactly, now, ah… today!’
Transylvania is too far to go, we said, as we slowly, and quietly slipped, off line!
We finally went to our neighbor witch, yes, again! Just to see, whom she’d assign.
She said it’d have to be from the magic folk, we were going about this, all wrong.
She found an earth mother witch, dealing in fairy folk and such, where we belong.
Yes, she was a well-known Doctor, but also a powerful practicing witch.
Apparently, she had found her niche, and we had found our Doctor witch!
So we called her up right away, and she promised to see us all, at once.
I said they were my dependants, you see, but money was not, in abundance.
She just waved her hand gently, and my insurance suddenly had, a paying clause.
She used bunnies to keep the Trolls, happy and rather mesmerized, for the cause.
And Dragon got a rolling chair, to keep him busy sliding, across the floor, zoom!
With each check up, came the same routine, as they came into the exam room.
As they looked around, she froze them with her wand, no muss, no fuss, for sure!
None of them remembered a single thing, as she had such, a gentle Touch, I assure!
The tooth was fixed with the snap of her fingers, this was truly amazing stuff…
She said we were doing great, for a brood like this, can be full of, painful mischief.
In fact, I was the first, human she’d known, who could deal with a young Dragon.
And still be alive to tell… I told her it was technology, a fire retardant suit, and fun.
That made her laugh hysterically, as she then smiled, and she patted me on the back.
It made me begin to wonder… Is there some thing I don’t know about… yet?
She is tired of fighting, sick and tired of changes
Weary of the battles, the struggles and the challenges
She left so much, just to possess so little
Limping from holding on at every single angle
Faith came from the fight, now it is night
And she is exhausted, despite having a dim light
Holding on to her little faith for so very long
Clutching it tight, even singing it a song
Her faith cries out, her little faith screams out
Still young but giving everything out in a shout
But she is without concerned. Her pain is stronger
Holding on to her faith seems to make the pain linger
...So, she rocks her faith to sleep
She wants the pain to be numbed with aspirin
Knowing that there's no cure, but a brief separation
Like a bad toothache, she desires Novocain
Anything to relieve her from life's constant pain.
She now became apathetic. Her fire flickered out.
Unfulfilled promises and failed expectations about
How things will be better, how good life will be
But instead she is faced with constant trials and misery.
Wanting something so bad, but cannot get it.
Desiring a change, but it fails to manifest.
So the best thing to do when your heart is sore
From not getting what you want is not to want it anymore
...So, she rocks her faith to sleep
Suppressed her desires into the bed of her unconscious
Covering sheets of darkness over something so precious.
Her faith: covered in darkness, now out of sight.
Then she turned off all hope when she turned off the light.
Allowing her fears to surround her precious faith
That is under the sheet of darkness that resembles lace
Because she lived a life of promises, chasing a dream
But it was so troublesome that she wanted to scream.
Now walking in utter darkness, no hope or ambitions
Just one with her carnal desires and temptations.
Her faith, teary eyed and whimpering, at last closed its eye
And she closed the door of her heart, leaving it inside
And in there is where her faith still slumber
While she lives without a dream, failing to persevere.
Thought that life would be better, but instead
Is living a life similar to being brain dead
...Since, she rocked her faith to sleep
The Check is in the Mail
Authored by Chuck Keys
At the beginning there was no rain,
Only the thundering noise and bright bolts of lightning.
The trees and bushes trembled with the cold winds
Pouring sheets of rain soon followed.
The stones and the ground cover cringed,
Everything echoed and shook from the hard driving forces present.
There was no place to run or hide. God
Was making his statement.
There will be no peace tonight,
Everything is in play.
Someone is in pain, searing aching ever increasing pain,
Like the agony of a toothache, thumping, pulsing, thud, thud, thud
Louder and more intense with each breadth
The body and spirit is consumed, tightly wrapped up,
Absorbed in the discomfort of now.
And it's not going away on its own.
There will be no peace tonight,
Everything is in play.
He was stolen, placed in chains,
Brow beaten from the beginning, in and out
Never allowed to be his own,
Not like whites, he was property, owned and operated
But different non-white, (why are we still talking of color?)
Yet beings we all are.
There will be no peace tonight,
Everything is in play.
We cry for what was taken but can never be returned
Not wanting to be raised above or over,
Wanting not a victory, but delivered equality.
Through love and nonviolence Martin and they forged ahead,
No more waiting for the check in the mail,
But expecting the expected.
There will be no peace tonight,
Everything is in play.
The storm is here and now.
A debt of honor is due,
With the passing of time, where is restitution?
We accept love, education, pride and joy,
We can't accept the hatred of crime, violence,
The lack of housing and work,
Pain never fades on its own.
It needs attention.
God’s values our values,
The one constant, never becomes vague.
Without compromise. Without compromise.
There will be no peace tonight,
Everything is in play.
The storm continues with its blinding rage,
Waiting for an answer, not patiently, but expectantly,
There will be no peace tonight in their lives as in our hearts,
Everything is in play.
Sending the tending to an unfriended ending,
yet somehow suspending from rending a newly offending recommending.

The cocktale turned into a,

A hobnail.
A pale kale.
The whale waled

The stale air,

Weeded the weed,

The seedy seeded.

NORMAN
Norman was a character a funny man its true,
He was a country copper, till the force said bugger off blue,
He was there in Mungindi when two Squatters piddled on plants,
Grabbed onto ole Carruthers and booted him up the pants,
You cant do that said ole Loostrang, he’s the mayor of Dirran-bandi town…
You must be the bloody horse, said Norman to this drunken slobbery clown,
So he threw ole Carruthers into the Black Maria, {squatter = Land owner}
Loostrang went there swiftly hobnail booted, Ass on bloody fire,
So he got moved to Texas by the Squatter whinging boys,
And Norman booted the wrong asses, in Texas too just to bloody annoy,
{Texas town population 500}
So Norman left the force,
In Dirranbandi town he left his mark,
A drunken guy was whinging,
Bad toothache said the drunken nark,
Dentist, Norman, thoughtful, was a singing,
So he sat on ole Aspro Jack to shut him up,
Jerked a few teeth, till he fixed the squire,
Who Sobered quick, got his mouth to shut,
Cos Norman wheeled the pliers,
Norman found some revolvers,
In a Squatters great collection,
The photo was in the paper,
In my mommas recollection,
Of the guy who held up the bank,
Was Norman to perfection,
Then his wife phoned up, said why,
Is there money not too dry,
In the ice box frozen section?
Don and Nell knew bye and by,
Norm was the master of mis-direction,
Had money parked in all the banks,
On the commercial travelers selection,
So there in Goondiwindi,
he was eating breakfast at the caffe,
when three thugs arrived,
tipped soup into his bloody lap,
so he punched piss n pickhandles,
out of three of the would be stars,
and mopped up the floor,
threw all three out the door,
some really terrified Galahs*
{aussie pink n grey parrots}
I was having a beer with Norman,
He said “we’ll pick the bar,” {fight em all}
I said which end, just the Mormons,
He said “not yet, ah ha ha”:}

Avoiding Pain? Suicide Might Help!
I don’t like to get hurt, grok this path that most walk,
so write poems for strangers (I never will meet,
verse few friends do abide short of formal requests)
that reveal mind in verse (where hearts bathe in the light
of exposure on page). Am I loading a gun
life might point at my head? Will my readers see threats
to their lives in a verse filled with blanks that roam free
or find fault I’ve ascribed trumps the guilt I’ve explored?
Though life’s problem at times, I adore, get adored.
Does fact many bright ships pass at night on time’s sea,
south stars missed in North Hemisphere, call for regrets?
Let me celebrate all that God grants - light from sun,
dreams encountered sleep whispers in sojourns at night,
threads muse follows in wisdom or folly, bequests
laced with sorrow and joy that frame truth bittersweet
I’d fain hang on this wall when I’m talking the talk!
I implore each dear friend to extend grace to pain,
for pain’s truth holds life lessons (that spurned pose grave risk)
Might pain hint you’re remiss in pursuit of some bliss?
Could a toothache suggest sweets close kin to decay?
Does a love that’s forbidden just heighten your burn
and imply you’re afraid of available love?
Is love real that would trick, dare to bribe heart to yield,
would love author a love that denied love a voice?
There’s no touch (one survives) that divorces real gain
though the strength of love’s contact seems long, is too brisk.
Would a lover of pressed flesh sigh, “too hit or miss?”
Pain, I ban for all life, courts a brother’s, “Hurray!”
and a sister in ‘left field’ asks, “When’s it my turn?”
What of pain felt by Noah awaiting God’s dove?
It’s a measure of love, that worst pain gets concealed,
most incredible love known whose pain stays your choice!
Long Tooth

An ultimatum stood at my door
And greeted me so fondly
To the tune of my thumping heartbeat.
"Live as I seem or die as I am"
The words had reverberated in my skull and rattled my bones-
Sick with grief and mourning
Of a life never lived,
A lick of air never tasted on a tongue of a new man-
Not man-soon-to-be, or transsexual or Pinocchio without the splintering of wood but of words,
That scar my treacly heart,
That would better beat being born of another,
Without the tack tack tack of a dull toothache,
Soothed by morning (mourning) migraines or piercing stab of the mirror you avoid,
If not only to ignore the cavity but the caveat of a sorrow sight sought by seeing the sores gap,
Or stain of black mold
That seep into the other aspects of life,
Rotten tooth, rotting
Rotten life.
The ultimatum greeted me once more with a jolly hello on a Sunday morning
(After Saturday night was such a wonderful night)
Ever persistent, like church-going evangelists,
The knock-knock-knock
Similar to the beating of a batter to beat broken bruised boys,
Yet a boy was not who I was (To the eye)
But what I sought to be,
Surely the movement door-to-door or to move preaching lips mimic the migration or change in oneself-
To them; As enlightenment
For myself; A step down where the fire crackles,
Even as the tide crashes below,
Pitchfork points dig into my heel,
I'll take the grueling punishment,
Cast into the bowels of the earth,
And pecked by the birds,
So give me that old time religion,
It's good enough for me.
The ultimatum met me atop a bridge and greeted me,
Gun to my head,
"Fall back as I seem or pull the trigger as I am."
A coup de grâce,
The ocean lingers at a standstill as the gun cocks,
Waiting to exhale.
Unlike the earth,
With my heart's final pang,
I don't end with a whimper,
But with a bang.
Please tell me why
I need to know before I can say goodbye
Like why can I not fly
And why do we all eventually die
Why is chewing with my mouth open rude
Why is farting out loud considered crude
Why can’t we make love when you have a headache
Why does chocolate cause me a to get a toothache
Why is living together before marriage a sin
Why can’t a stranger be my next of kin
Why do I have to brush my teeth before I sleep
Why does the father of the bride weep
Why do I have to register to vote
Why do castles have a moat
Why do people break your heart
Why do we call a meat pie a pie and not a tart
Why do countries go to war
Why do we not eat all of the fruit including the core
Why are people so mean
Why is a child’s room never clean
Why do kids bully others
Why do I have a sister but no brothers
Why does a man where pants and a woman a skirt
Why do you get dirty if you play in the dirt
Why do we need to drink and eat
Why do vegetarians not eat meat
Why do we have to do number one’s and two’s
Why can’t you have one-man crew’s
Why will an engine not work without oil or grease
Why can’t we have world peace
Why can’t I have subsequent serves
Why do you get on my nerves
Why are people homeless
Why are probationary drivers reckless
Why do some say grace at the table
Why to some is the bible not considered fable
Why do we as kids have imagainary friends
Why is it for some this never ends
Why do we not have enough water
Why in China do they not want a daughter
Why do people commit crimes
Why do different states run on different times
Why is Mr Howard still in power
Why are there sixty minutes in an hour
Why do I continue to ask why
Simply because I am an inquiring guy
I still don’t know why
But unfortunately it’s time to say good-bye
Today's true tom tale;
Today was Dr. day at the clinic
I ended up the day quite a cynic
I'd been awake three days,
With a toothache and pain that slays
My jagged teeth cutting up my tongue
And the promise of help to which I clung
For no more of this pain could I endure,
I desperately did seek some kind of cure
Appointment at 2:15- told the taxi 1:30
I knew the fib was a tad dirty...
"Hedge the bet" one might say,
Sad to think one must be that way,
Of course in this case he showed up at 1PM
And I was in the waiting room at 1:15
Fastest response I'd ever seen.
So I sat in the waiting room as
Clerical shifts came and went
My patience seemed nearly spent
At last I was escorted to an examining room,
To sit and ponder my future doom...
For over an hour I sat there,
Reading all the posters on the wall,
About various diseases,
Soon I had them all!
Cervical cancer,
Malignant volvulus,
Infected ovaries,
Fibroid tumors in my uterus,
A glumaceous gluteus,
Obstructed bowels,
Deviated septum
Leukemia,
Anemia, edemia
Enlarged prostate,
Shrunken prostate
Eczema, Lupus
Leprosy.....
All these for me!
I hoped he didn't keep me
waiting too much longer,
Surely I wasn't getting stronger....
I'd be dead in ten more afflictions
If he could not cure all these conditions.
I felt my life force start to fade
Look at what these posters made!
Surely life was slipping away,
I couldn't stand,
I began to sway.
In he finally came,
Suddenly I did not feel
the same,
I might survive the day after all,
My approaching death grew
rather small.
Next time, bring a book,
For in terms of time,
It hardly took,
Much time to catch
All these ills,
Or at least come in,
With made out wills.
