There is depth in every tune composed,
no matter if your soul is open or heart closed-
an abyss of entangled metaphors brings hope,
lyrics of loss make me starve for affection.
O, I must admit…music has taught me to cope.
With each song sung I can make a connection-
as the rhythm of the meter brings a reflection.
Just as harmony balances out a melody,
a chorus of healing can become a remedy-
symphonies of solitude on a track written
brings an aria of beautiful sound to my ears.
Whether I am drowning in tears or smitten,
my favorite songs erase all my fears…
as I listen to my vinyl I keep for souvenirs.

Elegy – 7-17-24
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elegy for Old Growth
Through measures of metered melancholy
The tattered winds sing a rent elegy,
A pensive wail for pristine old growth,
A drifting chant in pure pitch of final farewell –
The mute tongue howls in eulogy
For virgins of a thousand turns around the sun
For helpless giants surrendered in atonal sacrifice.
Gentle titans with feathery boughs lifted their faces
To embrace misted melodies of summer and winter snows
Forest zephyrs sang lullabies for sparrows
Nesting in their rustling wombs
Then shared the secret lyrics of their song
With robins sheltered in their lofty grace of red bark
In evensongs, matins and spring symphonies.
The myrrh of burial mixes with their lingering fragrance
In desolation and in their exposed flesh,
Nude hillsides of purple rage
Scream in final dirges of farewell
Modulated into anthems sung to saplings in circles of renewal
Little ones, like half steps, change elegies to odes
The threadbare zephyr now chants paeans to remember.
Musical notes become antidotes
Teachers become motivators of youthful hope
Symphonies become beacons from negative yoke
Musical notes dancing with poetic spoke
Wheels in the mind start yearning and turning
With praise and hope and endearments true
Reciting dreams and reciting creative desires
Making his peers expose their joyous tears
Running to better places
Knowing glory is in the effort of all smiling faces
Now hear is a young man, with goals afloat
Ignored those who tried to sink his boat
Glory sings when you see kindness ring
Not when you see little ones pretend a sting
His peers where drowned with happiness tears
Youth has its wisdom as teachers smiled in the rear
Triumph and victory all held dear
Beauty and the Evil Ones
A poet weaves such wondrous words
flowing of milk and honey
of enchanting places
soothing moments
filled with love invoked memories
Majestic symphonies of wonder
cadenza's weaving the imagination
Wagner, a musical genius sayeth so
softly painting beauty in musical tones
Overtures of compassion permeate away
such artistic brilliance buries the mind
of those whose insides are maliciously dark
pure evil pervades their bone
The painter of valleys
rivers and mountains in pastels
simple yet provocative in their tranquility
Hitler of the rose gardens
evil through and through
The maw of war opens signs
the sepulcher of promise
denotes a rose bleeding all
those who suppose in time
battle axes and saviors
bite the head of the snake
drooling gibberish of bravery
drained batteries on mobiles
an old man pants and drools
a childhood lost at sea (infernos rage in crime)
inspired by those who wish to wash you
feel the scrape of skin (calls and a bartering nun soothes)
holy mary, mother may eye
-s close the world shuts to black
clouds know rain and snow
weakness (blood-drained brain)
the secret seethes in an angels’ scream
(a breath in a dream) butterflies moths
mothers and whores invoke the power
(squeezed-heart-seconds) cringed dolls
curled in tattered repose (symphonies, politicians,
the ratio is severed the knowledge puked in dejavu’s)…
tight marionettes dance through my neck
a tornado pulls calm through my chest,
heavy, heaving, heaven, hell,
bells toll churches kick graves in
--boots thunder through hidden halls—
of wood vampires milking judgment cracked in stone…
Cadence
Nature dances in the cadence of grace
In hypnotic snows descending
Or raindrops steady patter
In symphonies of metered tides
That match the rhythmic heartbeat
Drawing spindrift of the heart into fusion.
Grace never slumbers in hibernation,
Nor does the pulse of consecrated mercy sleep
Abiding in the orbit of the seasons
Harmonic vibrations of celestial seeds
Flow from the eternal’s pulsing passion
In steady beats of melodic call and respond.
Grace breathes in measured breaths of compassion
In the tempo of prevailing winds
In sync with chirping poetry of avian songs
Like forgiveness breathing in then out
In even patterns of enduring peace
Nature dances in the cadence of grace.
I wander through the rust of twilight, carrying your name like a bell melted in a still-throbbing heart
I don't know if I love you or if my pupils just shine under your uncertain and fragile spell
Thoughts flow like glass birds, colliding, shattering, and piecing back together on the retina in a spiral
Sometimes I hide my longing in the pocket of the night, like a firefly afraid of its own blinding light
Other times I would scream until the sky cracks, to hear the echo returning my answer breathed by burning stars
You are the spark that warms the air, but also the sharp frost that freezes the buds of my heart, now fragile
By day I deny you like a mad dream, by night I invoke you in the abyss of the soft hidden pillow
Between these extremes, I breathe, my cough scattering petals of light through the chambers of flesh and memory
You are the elegant ailment that heals me of silence and infects me with symphonies of shiny shards
Yet I continue to sweep the floor of my soul, gathering your fragments, tasting them to see if they still sing
Perhaps on a morning of ashes, I will breathe without you shining, but today I have no closed antidote
Thus I remain suspended between the bell of the heart and the fallen chandelier, hoping that pain sounds like living music
The wind blows, wails and cries
Her strength, her rage, on an upward rise
The sky that was clear now is black
Her vengeance, her fury unfolds to attack.
Lands tremble, crack and bends
Destroying all what now offends
Spirals of dust begin to form
Tornadoes marker carries her storm.
The sea joins and matches in rage
Waves rise high on its vast open stage
Surging in might and gaining in power
All in its path, it will now devour.
Thunder roars with all its might
Lightning sparks before her bolts strike
Eyes of the storms glaring down
Her tears condemns the lands to drown.
Symphonies of destruction are synchronized well
Howls, rumbles, pitched whistles they yell
Fear their anger, feel their force
Destroying mankind is now on course.
Terrified, people panic and scream
Their prayers, their pleads, how sorry they seem
She begins to soften and calms down her rage
Suppressing the force of her destructive rampage.
So she gives them yet another chance
To show their change; a new restart
To work together, not for power or greed
What nature gives is for all life living needs.
Not to pollute, or poison or to steal
Each living being has its place in her wheel
All is positioned in her natural order
It's always humans that create the disorder.
Mother Nature's patience is now wearing thin
Her temperature and temper will be rising again
Signs are showing she will not be as forgiven
Taking back control of what freely was given.
Dream Pilgrim
Slipping past the threshold of the daystar in velvet vesper hues
My weary pilgrim heart sheds the restraints
Of pale dawn’s blush and twilight’s silver dawning darkness dyed in ebony
To gather starlit threads of lacy midnight raptures –
Cobwebs of mysterious deep scars –
Shivering echoes and silent symphonies solitudes
Pulling apart tangled luminescent threads of soaring moon fantasy dances
Of wild, untamed, white hot strands of passion in braided chords of shimmery
Cords of dark secrets bound in night terrors of colorless tantrums -
Rosy remembrances and new hope in borning greens –
Scattered remnants of the forgotten in barefoot convictions
To weave a gauzy metaphor light as clouds ships on a midnight seascape
A fragile souvenir of pale hoarfrost in flowing textures of irony –
Emerging mystic patterns bold as an ephemeral glimpse of eternal
Gossamer filaments in mystic schemes of far pavilions
A fleeting tapestry – a mantle of the epic pilgrimage visage -
Disappearing into wreaths of corona’s memory crowning
In new light of re-emerging time’s strong resolve
Only to reprise the journey when sighs of sweet slumber’s song
Again invites my heart to explore the maze in shimmers of sleep
