African Night Storm Dream

The last I think I saw of the rustic scene
Of the age long lore and antiques
Before the spell was cast
Was a dancing constellation in the sky
To the throbbing of drum and flute.

A full moon in golden attire watched keenly
Smiling over the quiet thatched huts
And all around the planes of furrows
Where our backbone ache from tilling
Where young cereals countless had sprouted.

Then we reclined on our bamboo beds
Having over-fed with yam porridge
Yam boiled in red oil, dry fish and hot spice
Watching the live coal glow under the tripod
And transfixed by the distant throb of life.

Suddenly a gust of wind descended
Routing from the western valley
The moon quickly puts off its smile
The throbbing ceased, the stars disappeared
And the coal dispersed sparks of its last ember.

I saw the trees bowed to their lords
The sky mumbled with iridescent light
To the distant vale of palms wriggling
Their braided heads to the dissonant rhythm
Of disco and afro night storm.

First there was only a patch of pool
The pool turned to a running stream
And the stream became a flowing river
And the river expanded into a great sea
And the sea brought forth a white monster.

And the monster foaming and roaring
Routed the huts and tossed us into the sea
In the wild turbulent waves set adrift
On a piece of raft, once our bamboo beds
In dark storm and thunderbolts drift amiss.

Then I was woken by voices of weeping
And complaints; doused and shivery,
There was no thatch or mud walls standing
But a great flood washing away
Remnants of our toils and inheritance.

Start with your heart to know fond quest,
Spark your sure art with happy zest.

Pique your clear mind with happy thoughts,
Prize your grand finds as play frames plot.

Apt love knows joy in peace of mind,
Ask to enjoy life's journey kind.

Reach for a touch that crafts each day,
Reap more than much good feel your way.

Keep faith and hope your circle wide,
Kindness now scopes each lovely tide.

Live what you feel as wise thought rooms,
Love ever thrills what change now blooms.

End as you start with grateful heart,
Endow each part with awesome art.

See the end game in wonder's quest,
Spice your good name with zeal and zest.

Make room for more to fill your cup,
Mind what you store as soul moves up.

Zoom now in-sync with heart and mind,
Zest anchors think as success signs.

Explore each day the path of light,
Expect wise ways that confer sight.

LESSON FROM MY FATHER TO ME

The lesson from a father to his son
Are blessings in disguise
For they are guidelines to success
And longevity;
My father taught me many things
He taught me to be firm
While going after what I want
Taught me how to say no without guilt.

My father taught me
How to stay strong and patient
When things don't go my way
According to my plans
I should let go of things
That is out of my control
Teaching me detachment.

My father taught me
To be humble and consistent
When things start going my way
According to my plans
Because discipline and humility
Maintains success.

My father taught me
How to treat everyone
I cross paths with
Because variety is the spice of life
Disparaging another only
Feeds the ego instead of essence
He taught me so many things
I can't mention here
When words are too much it becomes void.

Autumn 's Gift

Soon the leaves will begin to leave their homes,
like floating portraits from the autumn sky.
Lovely random colors the wind has blown,
piles of art at the artist's feet doth lie.

The warmth of Summer's kiss soon fades away,
the chilling embrace of Fall takes it's place.
The long enjoyed hours of the sunny days,
are now shorter time for our clocks to face.

Smell of pumpkin spice fills the autumn air,
and memories of home entice the mind.
Thanksgiving a time that family share,
the bounty that God has given so kind.

As we gather with loved ones on this day,
find a sweet memory to take away.

Because I Live - MR

“I am the Resurrection and the life.” John 11:25

Because I live
And birthed life in a tomb
My beloved know the secrets
Of the blood stained wood
Where redemption wedded salvation
In a declaration
“It is finished.”

Because I walk again
On nail-scarred feet
My beloved see evil writhe in death throes
The vagabond heart
Abides
On mountain slopes
Of holy spice

Because I rise
My beloved revel in the Son like sunflowers
Raising valleys where shadows reigned
As moonlight dances
In an empty tomb
Joy lives as a legacy
Overwhelming opaque blind mists.

Because I live
My beloved and I dine on Alleluia
And hope daily appears
Through Eden’s gates reopened
With a key
Forged in anointed forgiveness
Fashioned with pierced hands.

Because I breathe
The Spirit of God breathes
Gifts
As my beloved inhale prophecy and promise
In new Genesis
For such a time as this
We live

Because I live…

A Blessing If You Would Learn

The heart when young, so blissful and knows no sin
the mind's ego knows no bounds, its strength within

The earth, sound and steep, its fruits the soul entice
the taste of spice great! to every slice a price

The eyes rain and the mouth would savour its pain
when dry is your land, sow no seed, reap no grain

Valiant steps fear no edge nor the burn of sands
wish die for the glory of walking God's Lands

Specks of dust make souls blind can turn lives to dust
just a spark of deep Faith heralds paths to trust

Ascend and observe, gems in you aim to earn
What seems as harm, a blessing if you would learn

God for you paves paths and lends many a hand
a deep well of Love granted to flood your land

Those warm drops of Love and Life, in time of birth
brought heaven under your feet, mothers of earth

Peace and joy in voice of heart to God raise praise
light in soul, a power with beauty would blaze

Brushes and pens paint and a language translate
the soul ebb and flow beyond language and state.

                    ---------------------------------------------------

Thrilling and alluring
hazard, affection, zeal, and heat
all the stated above
crimson, as a rose, is a sign of love
at all times evolving
             when planets are aligned
             color doesn't matter
             because true love is blind
unseen for the most break
but only when glimpsed
mutable and undulating
colors are shifting
lasts only long enough
to be outrageous
          love is a colorless mood
          It is a heartfelt emotion
          our eyes grasp everything
          love stems from inclusion.

She hates frilly pink stuff
flavor, spice, everything squeamish
three sons and spouse
she shares blue but shuns others.
once drove a crimson race car.
young passion, now a yellow SUV.
        easy access and exit.
        deeply anchored, like her life.

Experts called her Autumn,
but what do they gasp?
to me, she’s summer,
colors bright and warm,
        at times a little dusty,
        like a sunlit kitchen.
        so color her something,
        it would just be opal—
a humble stone, but look deeply,
all the colors of the rainbow
explode from its heart.

When I am missing her:
I am just cobalt blue,
with emptiness...
when we are intimate:
I am a royal purple,
with happiness...
      when I am working:
      I am anxiously green,
      with jealously...
      when she is sick:
     I am indigo, with
      hopefulness...

Pleated, flirtatious hair.
release her loose braids.
with freckled cheeks.
She vibrates sweetly.
the furious downpour.
moistens dusty roads.
falling cobalt beads pitter.
rainy beat orchestra.

1st place contest winner.

Premium Member How Dare You

How dare you brazenly walk
As my every dream you stalk
In the hallways of my mind
Where my heart you must find
Like this is your place
You just simply pace
Free in your domain
You drive me insane
Shoulders set back
You’re on the attack
Head held high
For you know why
You walk down this hall
You know I‘ll come when you call
And you SMILE
How VILE
HOW DARE YOU!

How dare you look at me like that
Like we’ve made a love pact
So smug and so sure
Your pride I endure
You make me swoon
Lovesick under the moon
You make my legs go weak
Put the color in my cheek
When your pass my way
The sun shines in my day
And I don’t know why
I might fall over and die
To get a taste of paradise
With just a look in your eyes
HOW DARE YOU!

How dare you play with me
Like some squishy toy
You tease and annoy
Bend me all out of shape
And yet you won’t stop the game
For you have no shame
You go on and squeeze
Just being a tease
Every day it’s the same
You're the one to blame
HOW DARE YOU!

How dare you
Hook me with words
When you know full well
Your words cast a spell
And I can’t even breathe
When my heart starts to read
The little hidden love note
Oh, how you must gloat
To sense I’m starting to melt
With every power felt
You now turn on the heat
Make my demise complete
HOW DARE YOU!!!!

How dare you
Trick me to rant and rave
Make me feel brave
To spill out my heart
Of which you want no part
But you want to hear
How I hold you dear
And so you entice
Add so much spice
To all that you write
And I’m plunged into night
A poor helpless soul
Who’s too honest to hold
The love tight in my heart
And so you start
The turn my heart’s crank
And relish your prank
Make me march straight to you
Knowing what you will do
Give me a love peck
And leave me a wreck
HOW DARE YOU!!!!

You Are My Love My Life and My Favorite Paradise

I see your aurora around your halo
I hear your laugh and it sooths me so
I listen to your dreams and I’m here to stay
Your warming my heart and it takes me away

The smell of your skin is my favorite spice
You are my love my life and my favorite paradise

Just a second with you is time well spent
You’re my angel of light heavenly sent
I feel your breath and you give it to me
The touch of your soul sets mine free

The smell of your skin is my favorite spice
You are my love my life and my favorite paradise

The sweet taste of you brings me to another place
There’s nothing more beautiful than the outline of your face
I drink from these senses as your essence pours
I’m blissfully content and eternally yours

The smell of your skin is my favorite spice
You are my love my life and my favorite paradise

DRUM OF LIFE

They always dance to it
The drum and rhythm of life
The beat are so lovely
If you can get it.
Life is a mystery
A journey you alone ride
But with support it becomes worthwhile.

Life is so frustrating
When you know or own nothing.
Drives you crazy, if you're lazy
Not having the courage to go after,
What you want or need.

There's enough for all
Some want everything
So they can use people, just like tools.
Many wanna start
From the top, not the bottom
From everything, not somewhere.
Variety is the spice of life;
Everyone can't be a leader, there must be followers.
