Nature's beauty, where harmony is around
Joy and peace twirl jointly across the ground.
It is in watching that our souls find release.
As animals, arty or elfin, lend solace and peace,
Secrets lie in floral fields and dim woodlands.
Our souls find a sanctuary as wonders stand.
The swift, free-flying birds above enrich the sky.
Their music fills the air with a calm sway.
Their vibrant hues and wings are bright.
Tinsel brightness to the deepest twilight.
As we observe their magnificent flight.
Our souls' brim with unadulterated delight.
The vast fields where the animals graze
We grasp a sight that makes us feel amazed.
The friendly cows, with their sweet eyes
Imagine the calm and peace of such dyes.
Their halcyon grazing and steady pace
Teach us how to live in blameless grace.
The opulence of nature lets us foster our eyesight.
Behavioral and temperamental highlights
Every creature we strike across
Such odd squirrels and their antics in the moss
Remind us to find delight in each beat.
Even In the record-breaking heat
The sage owl sat at the top of a tree.
It Imparts awareness for all to foresee.
The devoted dog with a wagging tail
shows us the concept of love sans fail.
Nature's grandeur brings us comfort.
Watching animals made us feel triumphant.
They remind us of the joy in simple things.
And the awe-inspiring splendor that dawn flings.
Let us watch the birds as they dance in the sky.
And feel their freedom as they soar up high.
Let us watch the animals on farms and in the wild.
And appreciate the lessons; they teach as a child.
So let us bestow a moment to pause and reflect.
On the beauty that surrounds us in every aspect.
As we observe the animals with an attentive gaze,
We find a sense of awe in nature's endless maze.
In the presence of nature's wonders, our spirits lift.
As we witness the colors, the feathers, and the swift.
In observing animals, we find a sense of delight.
A reminder of the beauty that exists day and night.

THE BEST LAID PLANS…
When I was young…growing up…still a boy…not yet a man
when thinking about my destiny…I had some awesome plans.
I knew early in my life what was in store for me…
I knew what I was going to do…I knew who I wanted to be.
I wanted to be a post office clerk…like my dad…although he didn’t make a lot of money and sometimes times were rough…He loved his job and he’d always smile and say…
I think we have enough.
But I soon turned why hopes to baseball…where I was going to be a star…
until I realized I had trouble catching…and I couldn’t hit a baseball very far.
Next I wanted to be a football star…people would have my name embroidered on their shirt…until I realized I was much too small…and how getting tackled hurt!
So I thought…I’d like to be an astronaut…where I’d soar up among the stars…
until I realized my stomach ached…just riding in the car.
Next I turned my attention to politics I wanted to be President…in charge of all the masses…until I realized there are some days…I can’t even find my glasses.
So I chose instead to be a teacher, a husband and a father…where I didn’t make a lot of money and where sometimes times were rough…but I loved my job and I was always able to smile and say…I think we have enough.
Who knew when I was growing up…with all the different plans I had…I would end up living a life that was closer to my dad’s.
But those choices led to being a grandfather…perhaps the easiest job of all…
where I didn’t have to to be coordinated…or rich…or intelligent…or tall.
In fact…from the minute I became a husband, a father, a grandfather…the moment our lives intertwined…all I had to be in their eyes…was loving, compassionate and kind…
So there you have it…in a nutshell…this is who I came to be…
and I’ve often wondered…did I choose this life…or has this life chosen me?
Either way…I’m happy…
for my life has indeed been quite amazing
and wonderfully grand…
I guess when I stop to think about it…
it has gone…exactly as I planned.
Amidst life's humdrum, day in and day out,
I yearn for adventure, to dispel any doubt.
Retirement's promise calls out to me,
With thrills and excitement waiting to be.
From the office's clutches, I'll break free,
To explore uncharted lands, oh, the ecstasy!
My heart longs to soar up high,
To travel far and wide, reach for the sky.
From sandy beaches to snowy peaks,
I'll seek adventure, with a smile on my cheeks.
Oh, the rush of skydiving and bungee jumps,
Retirement's adventure, my heart shall thump.
My aspirations go beyond the sky,
A consultancy firm to help me fly.
A guide to light the way, a mentor I'll be,
To help others soar, my heart filled with glee.
A café of themes, a whimsical space,
Where joy and laughter shall illuminate every place.
From humor to wit, a place of delight,
Both sun and moon shining bright.
Amidst the realm of words, I find my peace,
Where creativity blooms, and passion shall never cease.
Freelance writing, my palace of art,
Where every sentence is a masterpiece, straight from the heart.
With quill in hand, weaving words that mesmerize,
With wit and charm, words entwine, in a way that satisfies.
A tapestry of humor divine,
A legacy to leave behind.
No longer bound by time's cruel hold,
A life of passion now unfolds.
With each new dawn, a canvas unfurled,
A journey to retirement, yet to be twirled.
With every adventure I embark,
My heart beats with a thrilling spark.
A legacy I'll leave behind,
As I journey with an open mind.
A symphony of retirement, filled with laughter and glee,
Consultancy and café delights, a melody of life's grandeur, you see.
Let us welcome the thrill, the mirth, and the glee,
As retirement's enchantment beckons you and me.
Abandoning the ordinary, carving a fresh trail,
With a joyous chuckle, life's comedy I embrace without fail.
A hearty laugh, my heart and soul doth grace,
Retirement's promise, what an amazing place.
He was a story teller, my old man, and he was never more in his glory
than when sitting around a campfire telling us a story.
I’m not sure where they came from but as we sat bathed in the campfire light
we were captivated…mesmerized..we could have listened to him all night.
One of my favorite stories…I still remember the look in my dad’s eyes
in the cool of a summer evening when he told us about fireflies.
He had just kindled the fire when he gathered us around
“Watch the fire closely,” he whispered, “and do not make a sound.”
“Out of these dancing flames.” He continued, “You won’t believe your eyes.
for you will be a witness to the birth of fireflies.”
An evil witch once held three children and in the darkness of the night
fireflies led them to safety as they followed their twinkling lights.
The old witch was so angry…every firefly immediately fell
(as she said mumbled wicked magic words)…under the evil of her spell.
“From this day forward,” the old witch smirked, “because of what you did to me
every firefly in the world shall be encased within the trees.”
The old witch thought she was pretty smart then sat down to have a feast
never realizing in a campfire the fireflies would be released.
And once released from within the tree…those evil words the witch had spoken
could not harm the fireflies again…because her spell was broken.
“So rest your eyes on the fire.” Dad said. “Be as quiet as a can be.
and see if you can count all the fireflies that you see.”
We did as we were told and we couldn’t believe our eyes
out of that fire…out of those flames…we saw the birth of fireflies.
I cannot tell you how many…don’t know the exact amount
because as the fire burned on that evening…the three of us lost count.
Today the adult in me knows they are just ashes…
escaping the fire as they soar up to the sky
but the child in me can’t help smiling every time I witness
the birth of fireflies.
the notorious hotel...
monument to the greed of men,
it is a breathing stone-hewn titan -
looming over her, threatening pomposity,
selfishness threaded with egyptian cotton,
the cold stares of people from the upper leagues of life...
yet the young street girl enters anyway, defiant,
stilted and out of place in her cheap summer dress -
the breath of success sucks her in,
money-scented sussurations kissing her plebian cheekbones...
taken by the hand she glides up velvet stairs,
half-drowning as she soars past fish tanks bubbling to the ceilings,
past effervescent marble arches...
the rich flit by her, swan-like, with noses tilted heaven-ward
emitting the subtle reek of idle hedonism...
breathless, restive, she perches in a gilt chair,
bitten fingernails tapping ivory tablecloth,
waiters descend like falcons swooping in for the kill -
'tea or coffee, madam, scones with devonshire cream madam,
your soul on a silver platter madam...'
who is this madam, she muses,
checking her reflection in the silver teapot,
who is this woman wearing my skin,
a pretender to the crown of the landed -
distracted, melancholy, she crumbles her fruit cake,
swallows the strawberry sorbet in icy gulps...
distractedly she notes the taste of gunmetal -
her cappuccino is sprinkled with gold dust...
caged in by gilded illusion her lungs labour,
claustrophobia gripes though the roofs soar up to touch God's soles...
she is not welcome here,
she feels doomed, somehow, unworthy -
a goldfish floundering with the sharks...
jumping to her feet she flees, kitten heels clattering on mosaic floors -
out the door, panting, flushed,
into air that smells of exhaust, of seaspray and sweat and natural things
relieved she slows, straightens her spine, sniffs the wind -
a smile flirts with her lips as she strolls away into the anonymous night,
the little lamb who escaped from the slaughterhouse
March 30 Faith in God Bible Meditations Based on 1Samuel 13-14
Key Verse – 1Samuel 13:14 …The LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart…
FAITH IN GOD WHO SEEKS US AFTER HIS OWN HEART
God seeks us after His own heart midst His truthfulness
While checking our faith against disobedience and perverseness
So that we can abide in His will’s graciousness
Despite fearfulness that troubles our joyfulness.
God seeks us after His own heart midst His might
While strengthening our faith along sin-battle’s height
So that we can win by His deliverance-fight
Despite weakness as we flee to His light.
God seeks us after His own heart midst His purification
While sanctifying our faith toward holiness-action
So that we can follow His commands with dedication
Despite evil in our journey’s successful completion.
God seeks us after His own heart midst His Word as love letter
While instructing our faith against being a doubter
So that we can obey Him willingly since He is our Master
Despite attacks of the enemies as we cling to Him---our victory setter.
God seeks us after His own heart midst His pity
While nourishing our faith in pardoning our confessed iniquity
So that we can beseech Him always with humility
Despite pride that hinders our worship-sincerity.
God seeks us after His own heart midst His peace
While upholding our faith upon His compassion that does not cease
So that we can serve Him while our trust in Him we increase
Despite discontentment that brings futile caprice.
God seeks us after His own heart midst His helping hand
While driving our faith to soar up and firmly stand
So that we can enjoy sharing His blessings in the promised land
Despite noise of vanity along worldliness-demand.

Having soaked up
all her memories
whilst dancing
with the man she loved
So many nights remembered
as their souls soared up above
I complemented her red hair
rich emerald green my hue
designer elegance was I
so many compliments I drew
Throughout the years
much joy and laughter
but now I was feeling discarded
just hanging around in her wardrobe
in deepest
darkest
blackness
The only sounds I ever heard
were fluttering wings of moths
Arriving hungry every night
chomping and chewing
her clothes they did ruin
but from me ~ they did not take a bite
My fate not looking good
from conversations overheard
My swan song was for me to be
inside her coffin ~ just her and me
On entering the furnace
we would soar up to the sky
to the arms of her beloved
dancing to the end of love
Well this had been her plan
Until sweet girl Arabella
her precious granddaughter
now coming of age
One day asked my girl
could she please try me on
Now looking more positive
for my final swan song...
So surprised to be taken
back into the light
She gently unpacked me
to my utter delight
Arabella – her grandchild
was trying me on
in this emerald green dress
she shimmered
she shone
and me
~
this Emerald Green Dress
~
Well
~
I was out to impress…
Written 13th July 2019
after gifting my precious Emerald Green Dress to my granddaughter Arabella
now 18 years of age ~ and so the memories will go on…

HONORABLE MENTION
I wish I could grow some wings
And soar up to the edge of the sky
Where heaven touches the earth
And the atmosphere protects
All that dwell beneath
I want to feel the delights of the wind
Blowing in my face
As I surf through the thin air
Carefree and happy
I want to see what the avian world sees
As they effortlessly glide
Way up in the sky
Viewing both far and near
I want to cruise high above
Just as the jetliners do
Higher than a hot air balloon
That always seems so lonely
In the early morning sky
I want to get dizzy as I look down
On the people who are like ants
In a world so vast and varied and
Filled with animals and plants
I hope to see Man-made and natural wonders
That only the intrepid traveller ever found
I want to have a panoramic view
That only angels can see
As they look down on you and me
I want to peek over the horizon
That once caused so much fear
And know what Columbus knew was true
That people like me live everywhere
A supersonic traveller I wish to be
As I catch the Jetstream
And zoom across the globe
High above a summers’ kite
Way up where my head will feel so light
No one will be as high as me
I will be the king of the sky
Happy as a lark
Dancing among the clouds
And smiling at the sun
I shall marvel
At earths bounty
That includes you and me
And see where rivers start
Then flow into the sea
I will be where no one
Has dreamt they could ever be
Only an Astronaut
Can outdo me
One day hopefully I will get my wings
And fly up through the sky
Up and up I will go
I will let the wind decide where I will flow
We went on a hike to the top of a mountain…on a morning still sprinkled with dew…
anticipating all the way up..and once at the top..we were in for some wonderful views.
We knew we would see forever…in the sky…high above the pines
but the more we walked..the more we realized nature had other designs.
A fog rolled in…obstructing our view….covering the land surrealistically
so we focused on what was in front of us…all the things we were able to see…
We saw the beauty of the fog…the way it moves…how to the trees and mountains it clings.
We noticed how, even in the fog, flowers bloom and birds continue to sing.
We watched at times the fog soar up and other times crawl across the trees…and we wondered does the breeze control the fog or does the fog control the breeze.
We felt the fog roll over us…like ghosts floating through the air
leaving behind a bit of dampness…on our clothes…on our hands…in our hair.
We noticed that moisture on the flowers and plants…making them shine as it helps them to grow…we saw how the fog in the distance…covered the land like a blanket of snow…
We noticed there was magic in the fog…magic we never knew…
turning trees into magicians as they faded in…and then out of our view.
We found more magic in a large rock surrounded by rose petals…
and although the ceremony was through…
we imagined a couple standing there…
smiling…both of them saying I do.
Yes…we went looking for beauty on the mountain….
we had a certain kind of beauty in our heads…
but unable to see the beauty we came for…
we found our beauty in the fog instead.
The words of my prayers, wings obtained and
Reached the sky*
As
The selfishness of my feelings has helped them
To soar up high!
