(Dedication: For Dr Ram Mehta.)

Morning light
Spreads divine psalm --
Touch of zest

By this stone bench
Sleeping cat purrs --
Feline dreamscapes

That old man sits alone
Strange neighbour --
Thoughtful wanderings

Sadness in shock:
Food court bankrupt --
Ghost town feeling

Dress fitting session
Bridal gowns, smart suits --
A lovely affair

Just because
You said so --
Let it be then

Brief excursion
Nowhere near --
Beyond conflict

Open agenda
This showpiece --
Mood swing construct

Cheer wears a face
Serious as glee;
Smiles punctuate

For many hours
This wait upon --
Something new perhaps

Meal time in-between
Lunch and dinner --
Not quite the same

Gifts freely given
Notice brisk gratitude --
Thoughtful intent

Style a smile
Wait a while --
Cheer now piles

Explore fringes
Curiosity peeks --
Discovery sublime

Premium Member Critters Live Under My Hood In Winter

I am like a pretty jalopy that has accumulated rust
A proud chassis but with a droopy fender now
No one oohs or wants to purchase me now
Which is great for I am not for sale in any kind of way

My chrome bumper which was glistening sterling
Used to be a drum majorette for parades in the 40’s
I sit in an old farmer’s back lot now, hidden from the ones
Who have bought up land and are building pristine brick houses

There used to be a great-great-grandson who would jump inside me
Play with my steering wheel, honking the horn
But it has not worked for a long time
Critters live under my hood in the winter

I have become a shelter for those who need one
No longer a showpiece, not flashy or sassy
But I remember and I smile, as the critters seek shelter
Neither of us satisfied but it is a start sometimes.

Premium Member Gross Grandeur

Nectarous taste would not surcease
in torture now that’s my showpiece;

I sit in a hard chair pallid,
there’s solace in something solid;

Give fine obeisance to the madness,
decayed memories savor sadness;

Such enmity in your answer,
the pinnacle of gross grandeur;

Your lotion now my nepenthe,
letting me drown so easily;

Rocking on this rickety porch,
that scent hits me like a blowtorch;

Alone, I want to be swaddled
in each moment that we bottled;

I’m locked in a living tomb
rusted with such a stale gloom;

Filthy stench, can you smell it?
Perfume for some to covet;

In a cataleptic state
circumvention seen too late;

Doppelgänger could not withdraw,
prose signed ‘Edgar Ravenclaw’.

Premium Member A Noteworthy Ship

for far too long now

he had bottled up his emotions

stuck reason to his wavelength

and built an intricate structure

in the glass bottle of his mind

a real showpiece emerged

crafted by a master sail maker

a museum piece of an anchor however

and a bell that refused to ring

so tightly was the voyage enclosed

static it towered on a fire place surround

with other less prominent trinkets

a skinny laughing Buddha and some

Russian dolls mocking his very own

Potemkin villages and a bottle of Vodka

when the vessel hit rocks once more again

and descended into an underworld of passion

it crashed on a lighthouse in passing

and the beam of confusion burnt

a hole in the glass shelter

disfigurement shone until the bottle

emerged from its molten ruins

in the shape of a lifebuoy

he had always thought that

one pull on the life line

which raised powerful trim

would adapt to winds and slackened lull

easily at the push of pure will

illusions in doldrums and thunder

storms fair weather and dolphins

rocking his boat taught him

to swim on his own

search for sea shells and driftwood

and a hut on the beach

the best part about his construction

was that the old ship had never been

seaworthy and that trial and tested error

had been worth a passage of terror

now pacified and calm near the shoreline

Premium Member Indiscriminate Bombardment

Indiscriminate bombardment will flow
with endless pigmented possibilities;
A cross of Penelope pop-socks and indigo;

Abstruse, the two primary colors;
It must be that brush of butterfly effect
the wild one pulled from under the covers;

Intangible to all but the one who strokes
the canvas with bubbling neon flames;
A smeared showpiece each drop stokes;

Quilted texture of poodle-prairie red
dances with lines of earthy caveman;
Stimulated Muse taunted, empowered;

Passion-ridden poppy colored hands
leave only the most elegant stain;
That backsplash born of bold badlands;

Lush hues of whimsical rain pour out
exiting the smallest tube on the table;
Children’s daydreams fall from it’s spout;

Behind perfectionism a child will lurk,
screaming at you to relax and have fun;
Who cares if it is pristine or patchwork?

Friends congregate
Party mood trickles;
Familiar laughter drowns

Once upon
A dream come true;
Foreign expectations

Invest shoppe
Moments meander;
Burst of high tide

Moaning and groaning
Kettle steam retorts;
Morning brew transits

So many words
Unsaid, unheard;
Uneasy non-conversation

Awkward these glances
Feelings suspended;
Anticipation ignored

Simple ritual
By this park bench;
Watching time doing nothing

Path of sure ease
If you please;
Leave plot behind

Corner shop
Selling ***** goods;
Curious onlookers

Chinatown haunts
Quaint shoppes;
Random walk-ins

Ancient goods
Antiquity packaged;
Modern labels flaunt

Things Oriental
Goods and services;
Tipping welcome

Geylang highlights
Ancient evenings;
By plumeria scents

This new stadium
Spectacular showpiece;
Sports illustrated

Postcard perfect- a picturesque town
Where the locals come to wind down
A hidden gem, a park of simplesse
An oasis, heavenly, it's beauty bequests
An art form to behold, a sculpture; nature's showpiece
Serene and tranquil in the heart of the city
A stream lined with a plethora of trees
Every color showcased upon their leaves
A vast variety, Each the opposite from the last
No comparison, within it's contrast
Harmoniously standing together
A strength against stormy weather
Surrounded by majestic abodes
So grand, each and all, becoming stories told
A backdrop- regal mountains- not seen before
Only Nature could compose such a musical score

Norwegian Beaches

Utterly cold waters for two southerners from Oslo.
They take our breath away when swimming.
The land of the midnight sun and the gorgeous
Aurora lights are featured at Uttakleiv Beach.
Kept our eyes open too for unusual sights at
Lofoten Islands in northern Norway.
Eye of the Dragon was one showpiece - a most
Intriguing natural rock formation -
Visibly impressive, virtually unmatched.

Both my wife Nora and I, have our bucket lists.
Each of us have longed to visit our northernmost
Arctic Circle area and its famous fjords.
Colossal - the Trollfjordan near Lofoten which
Hails as the best holiday site ever in Norway.

Close Encounters of the Best Kind

Anon celebrations plumb us adjusts,
preceding months were more compatible,
familial presence friends superfluous,
plain chat wheedles a bit less fragmental,
pooled consciousness markup valuable,
fruitful homily affect harmony,
ripes present blooms extended courtesy,
besieged turkey banquet crowds Christmas trees,
stanch observance occasions normalcy,
camaraderie and oneness appease.

Tis the choice of annuals hails bonus,
each control themselves appropriately,
contrasts ne'er build or they'd be a Jonas,
dovetail twirls a sensitive filigree,
our kindred tree naught a Genesis tree,
naught muddled rundowns so microscopic,
yarns curled scripts that were kaleidoscopic,
ensnared eyes courteous ears learn the spiels,
showpiece manifest substantive topic,
closing in prayer banks where heaven deals.
