Imagine
     everlasting
          rapture.

 Just imagine
      a Shangri-La to
            escape to...

and be,
     just us two.
          Prithee,

my love, let's
     gallivant
          through our dream's verdure,

a much welcome respite
     from...
          the world's craziness

Premium Member Beautiful Olde Bermuda

There's an island paradise located in the blue Atlantic.
No place on earth is quite as charming and romantic!
A shangri-la where beaches are pink and everyone smiles.
The place whereof I speak are the quaint Bermuda Isles!

There are no streets with mundane names like Elm or Main,
But you will find Shinbone Alley and Old Maid's Lane,
Or Aunt Peggy's Lane and unique Featherbed Alley,
Where quaint shoppes welcome you for a spot o'tea!

Brave tourists straddle motorbikes to go for a spin,
Perhaps stopping for a rum swizzle at famed Swizzle Inn!
Or if it's something delectable they desire to munch,
May stop by the Hog Penny in Hamilton for a leisurely lunch!

If looking for a sheltered beach on which to cavort,
There's no finer than Tobacco Bay nigh St. Catherine's Fort!
Ah, to spend an evening at Ye Olde White Horse Inn,
Slurping Bermuda fish chowder and sipping tonic and gin!

At night the shimmering sea reflects the magnificent moon.
Dulcet calypso music wafts from across the glassy lagoon.
Bermuda is known for its lilies, onions and friendly blokes,
And for the beauty of its sunsets the Master Artist invokes!

Did you know that in dreams
and meditation we can journey in a bubble?
I know this sounds outrageous!
But, I often travel by bubble- sparkly, buoyant,
soapy, air pockets to places nirvana,
to Utopia's beyond this Earthly realm.

Beyond the blinking stars,
to fanciful, enchanted places and paradise gardens.
Full of vivid shades and hues of green,
flowing rivers and placid streams, waterfalls and
azure skies and dazzling suns.

And in my mind I linger in this Shangri-La
until reality is calling me . . .
So, I summon my bubble transportation
to carry me home again.
Oh, some may use a magic carpet to go
beyond the stars but I prefer bubbles . . .
Icy blue, glassy bubbles, bubbles, bubbles
as my mode of travel!

Premium Member Magical Shangri La

A prairie garden delight in the center of town.
Cone flowers, daisies and daffodils appear as if renegade.
There is no mulch, large curly grasses, dandelions, clover.
My children recognize this as a magical Shangri-La
They are reverent and excited with her tiny touches.
A silver frog stands holding two hot pink geraniums
A path of round colored blue rocks lead to a fairy garden
Where they find faeries of all kinds and sizes, each with a house
A teapot house, a coffee cup house, a mushroom house.
Queen Anne’s lace livens up this gorgeous miniscule village
Why don’t we have a place like this? One of my children asks.
I am as mystified about this as they are.
Maybe it is time we did.

I wish you luck, the builder said. We poured all the extra concrete on that hill.
I found this a challenge worth undertaking. That hill is gorgeous now.
I have chopped out the concrete with an axe and put in good soil.
I have planted a variety of bushes including a knock out rose bush and a snowball bush.

The roses, daffodils, tulips, marigold and lavender are spectacular.
So many places in my yard I have nurtured flowers and bushes.
Lilacs prance merrily around my house, their fragrance uplifting me always.
Rose of Sharons in deep pinks and purples next to my tulip tree, smile daily.

Sis said I could not grow Crepe Myrtles in Kansas, and yet I have six of them.
They are thriving in their pretty colors, giving hummingbirds sweet nectar
My yard with her fairy gardens, and beautiful statues is beautiful and calm.
My oak trees hold bird feeders for cardinals, wrens, robins and blue jay

Squirrels flash up and down the trees, tossing their fluffy tails my way
Fireflies, monarchs, grasshoppers, and moths flit and flirt in the grasses.
Bunnies are hopping amid my dandelions, eating my sweet clover.
My place is Shangri-La, I cannot imagine living anywhere else.

Tropical Getaway

Carpooling in the Monday traffic jam,
Wondering what we are and who I am.
Since we’ve already raised a family,
Is there anything left just for you and me?
Seems each day is just like the one before.
So what have we both then been working for?
Too many years lost daily nine to five...
Just making ends meet, barely feeling alive.

Let’s forget about all the noisy mobs,
Boomerang children, and annoying jobs,
Gently swing in a hammock made for two—
And snuggle real close, next to me next to you.
Gotta find us some island Shangri-La—
A quiet sunny spot with no hoopla...
Some lost place where folks could easily hide,
That no one could find in a tourist guide.

(Chorus)
Bamboo torches and starry skies
Would be mirrored in your big brown eyes.
We’d dance away each endless night,
Lost in love, with no dawn in sight.

Wanna find some tropical getaway--
Somewhere untainted where the locals play;
With fishing boats, seafood, and mango trees,
And spicy hot scents carried on the breeze.
Lounging in that tropical paradise,
As windy bonfires spark like fireflies;
We’d watch lovers dance while the steel drums play
Nightly Calypso tunes from dusk till day.

Chorus

Another Monday morning traffic jam,
Wondering what we are and who I am.
So let’s turn around and go book a flight,
escape while we can out into the night
Gotta find that tropical paradise
Where the nights are warm and the folks are nice,
And green birds sing exotic melodies
While monkeys play high in coconut trees
Wanna hold you close on an empty beach,
With a crystal full moon just out of reach.
We could sneak out behind a big sand dune
And celebrate another honeymoon.

Chorus

A Shangri-La, a sunrise after a rainstorm of strife.
Where you find respite, from a lost world run by bitterness and strife.

There, your friends await and welcome you.
After battling life's politically correct only, cock-eyed, views.

You were not raised in a world run by denizens of destruction.
Commandments, of long ago, have made you creatively, most honorably, function.

The Words of God make life a joy and these, your friends
appreciate with joy.
Satan's hooves you clearly hear,so all of you know lies, and what
means to deploy.

You all pray for peace, never from God, but from men?
Your homeland is not this vicious earth, bless each of you,
soldier in His, true squad,then!

May others, stop hiding in popular closets only here.
And we welcome you with warm arms and cheer!

I had never been in a house before but about a week ago I fell onto a straw hat, and rode her into the house. The straw hat was not edible, so I tried to get comfortable in a small sewing box, but I kept running into pointy things after I burrowed in, and they hurt. Ouch!

Next I climbed up a green wall and sat in a glow-bulb. This bulb went from cool, to warm, to hot, to unbearably hot in a short amount of time, so I climbed out of the glow fixture and made a slow methodical climb down onto a bed where sat a cloth doll. She looked nice and cozy, but on first bite I knew this was not something I could latch onto and enjoy.

I soon discovered a yipping thing. My cousin had told me about dogs. It looked promising, but I knew I would have to wait until the yipping thing was asleep. I salivated as I thought about how tasty a dog is reported to be. It seemed to take hours for the dog to go to sleep. Delightfully tasty my cousin had said, but have you ever tried to take a bite of curly thick fur? After six tries I gave up.

A large snoring giant was next to the yippy thing. I had heard about giants, but I had never burrowed into one. It took me almost all night to go from the feet to the head. Once at the giant’s scalp, I burrowed in, and it was delightful. A taste of paradise. Shangri-La!

Luckily, I was not discovered for three glorious days; best vacation I ever had. A feast for the gods, and I could eat whenever I wanted until a few minutes ago when the giant did a tick check, and found me. I was promptly put onto a soft white fluffy thing. I am right now taking a raft ride down a swirling river. A fabulous week! I would recommend this to everybody!

Walls of Citadel

So what's the running hubbub--hot-toot's Shangri-la?
Our fear of death's gone wacko. It’s crowding up the bar.

Let's drink to obfuscation. Annihilation’s hip.
Roll out the tequila sunrise.
Go down with the black-sail ship.

But could it be, O, could it be
that we had just forgot,
or we'd missed that day of Bio
in high school's tommyrot?

At work and seeming happy,
our cells in superb supply--
exist but a day, others for a week
or more, then die.

Perpetual dying and birthing
is the body’s oldest art.

And so--which you is the
You of you?

Conglomerations of cells a-croaking
in requiem symphonies of death?
Or halleluiah songs of the lively new?
Neither or both?

Then there's considering the case of old Bob Kelly
who, in his downward slide, one brilliant morning
awoke to exclaim: I myself can never die!
I just change and I fly!

So when we're saddled up with terrors,
believing love is far behind, or the Blues
is all we're singing, and our watches
won't tell time--we might recall
that magical Kelly, busting the walls
of citadel.

And we could believe it true.

Is fear of death and dying
the hell that we do make?

Now, enough with these perambulations!
Let us regard the drink.

What a picturesque panorama this is.
My eyes peer into the beautiful landscape
Of my vast, vivid imagination...
It is such a wondrous escape!

Funny, serendipitously finding you here
In this Shangri-La, patiently waiting for me.
Believe me, there is no place
On this earth I'd rather be!

Here we are, blissfully walking among
A serene golden field without a fuss,
As the unstable world crumbles
              Like Gibraltar all around us.

What an adventure! It's a sheer thrill
Getting away from it all with you
We'll chase butterflies to our heart's content,
Misspend our time taking in the view.

In this haven of peace and tranquility,
We'll repeatedly sojourn; it's our royal domain,
A welcoming, breathtaking getaway
To come back to again and again.
