Premium Member Whisper the Wind

first day
writing new letters
in the same old journal

a hymn
the only accompaniment
rain drumming the roof

*****

just in time
it stops raining
first cherry blossoms

spring wind
ten thousand frog croaks
collapse a rain-soaked silence

*****

at the shore
our footprints erased
in the turn of the tide

clouds
here and there
into the horizon

*****

the day's heat lingers
after dusk shuffling the cards
over and over

listening to the morning news
i brush tangles
from my hair

****

outside her window
one hundred evergreens
whisper the wind

his boyhood home
in the tangled garden
only the wind

*****

in the hour before sunset
cricket song again
filling the clear cut

early morning
the bright red barn
subdued by fog

****

winter sun
shines down on
the deserted playground

that snowflake
into the muddy puddle
without a ripple

*****

all the hues
of the rainbow are in it
this winter sunset

new year's day
the amaryllis flower
almost open

*****

Beyond Compare

good morning

the entry below is a "goshi" format
before anyone makes a comment on the format
for all of us who have posted on various sites
know each site has their own definition guideline and rule
it should be universal but we all know it isn't
it escapes me from which site I found the format
more than one stanza would make it a goshi suite
just as a tanka suite or haiku and senyru suite

I would further like to say
I'm certain we have all joined in on the format challenges
writing an entry from a to z with every format
the two hardest for me will always be the chant royal and sonnet
for those of you who continuously write in the formats
blessings to you and you have my truest respect and admiration
thank you

with all this being said
here is my "goshi" format
one stanza with rhyming optional
and with no rule of meter or unmeter
I listed my entry under light verse poetry

"beyond compare"

have I told you the worth of your open arms
have I showed you my love and the all of it
not because of your smile or sparkling eyes
and not because we express dress to undress
with illumination you move me beyond compare

My life has been a tangled path, a ravaged garden follows my journey always.
Since a child I have lived with death's hand upon me, we are sort of friends by now.
Death has taken everyone I loved. The list is long, the names engraved in stone.
Oh yes, I am somewhat forlorn and write my sadness and pain in poems, so true.
But, inside me burns a fire, inside my soul there is life and hope. No matter what
happens to me, how many times death visits, how many times I have to start new,
I have hope in my future and have never, ever lost hope in the Lord.

each day there is life
in the songs of birds that fly-
                let me spread     my wings

Premium Member I Waited Too Long

I
made
a mistake
with my mother
when the doctor told me she was dying
I should have brought her home to die with me
I live with that
weep at night
because
it
haunts
my soul
I could have
it was her wish
to be honest I was just so afraid . . .
then when I wanted to it was too late
if it happens
don't wait till
its too
late

her old cat w a i t e d
on her bed for days and weeks
                    t h e n he came to me

Premium Member ''Amazing Are My Dreams''

Future dreams- I have put on hold because of dreadful fear,
Until now, I am trapped in a cemetery with the dead, weeping;
To myself so often, I say just let it go, let the pain go-follow dreams.
Until now, my yesterdays were more important than tomorrows,
Ravaged has been my short life and my future out of sight;
Ends of journeys usually mean beginnings of others- but I am stuck.

I have had a dark past, full of death and tragedy. And I am unable to let it go.
And what is odd is that my parents were the happiest people, never full of gloom.
Why cannot I be more like them? They were always looking to the future, they had
plans and dreams, and they never dwelled in the past. They could have, but did not.
My Dad used to say that life is like chapters in a book, you finish one, begin another.
I know that it will be impossible to live my dreams until I accept the sad of my past.
Accepting the past will allow me to move into the future. Yesterday is history and
tomorrow is a mystery, as the saying goes. I want to make new memories, happy
ones, but first I must find the happiness that dwells within. And move on because
I have beautiful dreams full of peace and tranquility and awesome new adventures.

I will take the past
lessons and bring them with me-
 amazing are my dreams

Premium Member Letting Go- Over and Over

Long ago when I was a child my sister died,
Everyday in grandmas arms I cried and cried;
Time ticked and grandma left and I had to say goodbye,
Then when my baby boy was born and he never saw the sky.
Inside I dwelled, asking God why, a reason I wanted to know,
Nothing anyone said reached me, then slowly, slowly I had to let it go;
Getting on with my life and one snowy day my love crashed his car,

Gone from this world, deep inside I existed, my soul travelling so far;
Oh soon I knew that I had to let the pain go, but forever I will kept he scar.

My mom and dad held me close and protected me,
Beautiful love allowed me again to let it all go away;
Writing poetry and penning my sorrow was the key,
Suddenly my dad died, and mom left sadly one day.

the path is lonely
that leads me to her stone name-
mother I let go

Premium Member Winter

The freezing rain turns into black ice
If you're driving make sure you think twice
You may have a glitch
End up in a ditch
Take heed of the weatherman’s advice
~
cold winds start to blow
bringing first flakes of winter ~
bird’s migration starts
~
Flakes
Falling
Weaving a
Soft blanket of
Snow
~
old people indoors
but enjoy seeing others ~
from their comfort zone
~
Kids
Are out
Snowballing
Having great fun
The lake now frozen
Attracts some ice-skaters'
Who show off their skills to all
Many stay inside in the warm
Sat by a roaring log fire that crackles'
And thinking back to when they were a child
~
The children have fun in the cold
By the fireside huddle the old
~
Come
Nightfall
The sky clears
Stars visible
Temperatures drop and the virgin snow glistens
~
When as a child snow made me smile
And still does now for a short while
Artists paint the snow-covered land
While Poets create verse so grand

Spring time does seem so far away
Gets close with every passing day
The snow will go lands will turn green
But a wonderland you'll have seen.

My favourite chair
Said to me one night
Hey! Highlander
What you going to write

Is it going to be a fantasy
A Haiku or a Senyru
What ever comes from your thoughts
It's from the inner you

I have supported and rested
While you have written your writes
From many an afternoon
Into the early morning light

You never get frustrated
You just sit and ponder
For you know there are words
They are just out yonder

This partnership we have
Will remain as close as ever
Until the end of our days
Will be the time to sever

We will continue to be
One and the same
I to support you
With poetry your aim
