THE CHENNAI FLOODS - SECOND PART
No food nor drinking water, those alive, pity
Faced chillness, starvation and panic in eyes
No medicines, no blankets and no clothes
People succumbed in homes and on roads
Hundreds of people dead; countless injured
Houses and cars in thousands submerged
All essential storage quickly lost; and no food
Nor shelter; alas providers became seekers
A catastrophe that none believed will happen,
Occurred anyway, as people simply wilted low
Money and materials could not be of help
As holding hands alone forebode being alive
The future looked suddenly bitter and bleak
With money, valuables and motorcars lost
Very difficult it looked to make good the loss
As personal belongings all vanished in a toss
And by the time the boats came calling
And relief was in sight; most people had
Lost the battle and barely held their lives
The unrelenting flood having spewed its wrath
The misfortune threw up the good Samaritans
For many showed up, courting risk upfront
To save many a folk, with dedication abound
In desperate time providing solace and succor
Brave young volunteers were there in full
To reach supplies for people in a mess
But the disaster had hit in full, long before
Many need decades to get back, as before.
And then army men arrived to ferry in boats
Saving people, marooned and maligned
Helicopters dropped food for hungry mouths
As pilots picked the sick and the hopeless
The Government claimed it did its part, well
While the critics made a lot of noise, as ever
Alas people were left, high and dry; dismayed
To mourn the loss and weep, in silent mode!
Some said the authority failed; in their role
Some said it was “El Nino” “Climate Change”
Many attributed: highest rainfall in 100 years!
But I know: Millions of folk took a mighty blow!
They say that in the Holy Land
so very far away
there really are SAMARITANS
who to this very day
at Eastertide, or round that time,
but wait, who comes our way?
Some long-haired wandering type, I'd guess
but let us listen for a jest
to what he has to say.
"My names are one and many,
to some I was Jim Crow,
GOOD AFRICAN is what you'd write
if you should choose to know."
"My name is Sean O'Hara,
your old neighbor from the Falls,
GOOD MAN, put down that rifle
before the thing recoils."
"My name is Isaac Mandelbaum.
Your face I mark it true.
It is so clear that you should write
quite plainly THE GOOD JEW."
You are an actor, do admit,
but me you'll not take in.
To change the words of Holy Writ
would be an grievous sin.
I'm sure it says SAMARITAN
in the Bible on my shelf,
but if you do not believe me, Sir,
go read the text yourself.
"Woman raises over $315K for homeless veteran . . ." ABC News Nov '17
A homeless man with only twenty dollars to his name,
a sincere good Samaritan with no designs on fame,
observed a stranded woman near the interstate one night
and knew he had to be the one to remedy her plight.
When she remained in her locked car, just as he asked, he went,
to buy a can of gasoline. She must have thought God sent
an angel to her rescue. She and many more would show
they could be good Samaritans as well, and all would know
compassion thrives in many hearts. No matter how stone-cold
the world may seem, there still remain those willing to be bold
in giving. Kate McClure set up a GoFundMe account;
a throng of caring people raised a sizeable amount.
They want to see this ex-fire fighter/vet back on his feet.
They feel that Johnny Bobbitt rates a life beyond the street.
Sometimes one person’s actions serve as catalysts that lead,
as in this case, to numerous kind and noteworthy deeds.
Topic 6: Newspaper Headline
Johnny Bobbitt, age 34 at the time, was also a paramedic. He fell on hard
times due to personal issues.

Contested Crossroads
By Mark D. Stucky
On a battleground bloodied across millennia,
on a compact land bridge spanning continents and gods…
Canaanites, Philistines, and Hebrews, oh my!
Israelites, Judeans, and Samaritans, oh my!
Babylonians, Persians, and Romans, oh my!
Jews, Muslims, and Crusaders, oh my!
Turks, Brits, and Zionists, oh my!
Palestinians, Israelis, and others, oh my!
So many clashing claims to such a small strip of land.
So much religious, political, and ethnic strife.
So much cursing, contempt, and conflict.
So much destruction, death, and despair.
So many words of unfulfilled prayers.
So little hope for permanent peace?

How much are you… willing to give?
Lay down your life so they may live.
In this cold world when passions flame
burns so bight beneath your name.
I still believe in what your said…
that time will come in days ahead
when love and hope will rule the day
Hate is forced to run away.
I look for your face, you hold my hand
Give me the grace to understand
Tell me now, what I should do?
Strength of will to see it through
Justice cowers, forced to hide
Too afraid to step outside
Could you stand firm of foot and say
I'll not let fear get in my way?
When a cold white world freezes the truth
Stillborn’s the child and stunts the youth?
Justice is blind, for if she saw,
She’d cry her eyes till they were raw.
I know you not; you know me less
With broken bone do I confess
Sightless eyes feel the pain,
of ruptured heats and punctured vain.
Sole less; heatless, skeletal, carcass.
Statue standing, arms erect
Belches out the crown’s reject.
Justice tight shuts her sight from view
With all that blood...well wouldn’t you?
True Story
Today was Doctor's visit
No 3
You see my Mum now struggles walking
Where as 6 month's ago she walked
more than me like she was 23
And 3 visits later seen by 3 different
Doctor's
Where are we at now ?
She resembles her actual age of 70
rather than her old sprightly 23
She still work's a 5 day week
6am till 4pm Monday to Friday
And yes she wants to carry on
but unfortunately without medical
help the game is up
But after 3 visits with 3 different Doctor's she is no better off
Confined to a walking stick and
good Samaritans who help
a temporary solution at best with
2 week's off with a Doctor's note
Leaving armed with the knowledge
nothing fixed the problem still persists
Her employment sanity and independence at stake
And after appointment and Doctor
No 3
Not a single pill hope nor resolution
to hang on 2
Might as well just have taken 2
Paracetamol as a Placebo
Must be scary at 70 year's old
when you ask but receive no help
Because what is the alternative
When there is no where left to turn next

[4] and said to him: “Run, tell that young man, ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. [5] And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’
No concern of your location
How tall the walls we all build
Around our border of what we allow to enter
Within to mold us to this world
May God tear down the walls of deception
And build a wall of fire around one
Shinning light on the darkness in this world
Giving glory unto the one who creates
A new creation to be molded from above
That one might be of the free Jerusalem
One in unity and love
Then one shall know this is of God
??John? ?4:21?-?24? ?NIV??
[21] “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. [22] You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. [23] Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. [24] God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
??Galatians? ?4:24?-?26? ?NIV??
[24] These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. [25] Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. [26] But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

to 3938B Ridge Pike,
Collegeville, Pennsylvania 19426.
No more bare cupboards,
fridge, and deep freezer
since returning with more than
our share of daily bread,
plus other sundry provisions
referring to this mister, who
frightfully squawks like an old geezer,
ruler of roost,
plus the missus – ole hen pecker
nevertheless, neither of us
ain't no spring chicken
being locked within crosshairs
constituting elderly stage,
she doth dread
feeling like a charity case
swallows her pride,
cuz ample carload for us,
alleviating this bum searching
for crumbs to tweezer,
thus raw bits of powdermilk biscuits,
I need not scavenge, scrape, scrounge...
substantial commestibles
allows poet taster to breathe easy
inadequately satiates the missus,
(whose Godzilla appetite) defies
(cole) laws of nature to beef fed
predominantly healthy food,
that weighted our automobile like a led
zeppelin choking, intermittently
kickstarting, sputtering... along,
asper in (faux wheel) drive wheezer
putting utmost pressure
borne by taxing groovy tire tread.
Once mission (not so impossible,
but blessed relief) complete, I did aim
upon returning where we live
to acknowledge gratitude and claim
salvation for charitable deeds,
yours truly doth exclaim,
these volunteers, none I know by name,
nonetheless, a hearty poetic L'Chaim
afforded folks, who commandeer,
confidently coordinate quite efficient process
despite minor lament regarding
heavy toll stressing bulwark
quaking chassis, ripsnorting driveshaft,
shimmying entire automobile frame...,
hence no matter
our exhausted 2009 Hyundai Sonata
puttered along somewhat lame,
kudos to dedicated good samaritans,
worth their weight in gold to tame
hungrily growling, noisily rumbling tummies.
Healthy choices allow, enabled,
and provided us to secure provender
eases glum countenance of this clown
gratuity finds me bowing down
paying metrical obeisance
versus depleting meager monies
engendering botox frown
nipping in bud
forestalling need going
to preferred market such as
Aldi, LIDL, Redner's, Target
or Trader Joe's grocery shopping
to the nearest town.
Kindness consists of love in action,
not just feelings of warm fuzzies.
It’s done not in self-interest,
but is repaid in other ways.
Staying selfless, not selfish,
not transacting one-sidedly,
it makes both parties smile,
even bringing joy’s tears.
Acts of kindness are intentional,
not accidental or involuntary,
but may be random in effect,
spontaneous, unrehearsed,
unplanned, unpredictable,
arising from circumstances.
Scarcely seen, kindness is
unpracticed, uncommon,
unusual, surprising,
like a unicorn sighting.
Kindness involves risk and is not foolproof,
sometimes backfiring and going so wrong.
Good Samaritans sometimes get sued or killed,
but kindness consequences are worth the risk.
Kindness should stir hearts
and slake poignant thirsts
of not just friends and family
but everyone everywhere.
Kindness acts may be minute,
overlooked by the masses,
but its effects are not negligible.
Kindness punches up for its weight.
Big things consist of countless connected crumbs,
and even dewdrops of kindness ripple out in waves,
touching others, who touch others, who touch others,
and helping heal the countless wounds in our world.

They were nearing LaGuardia Airport when the pilot felt a sudden urge.
He told the copilot to grab the yoke saying his bladder he must purge!
He left the cockpit and wended his way to the lavatory in the rear.
Thus, a series of events unfolded, some of which remain quite unclear!
Things 'flowed' along nicely until the pilot attempted to exit the john!
Alas, the door was jammed and he mused, "Is someone putting me on?"
When he tried to escape from his predicament he discovered a catch;
He was alarmed to find that the doggone door had a defective latch!
In the cockpit the copilot was growing very uneasy about their plight.
The tower called to say they were 50 miles out and were cleared to alight!
To add to his consternation, some jerk was pounding on the cockpit door,
Yelling with a foreign accent - a serious situation he dare not ignore!
The tower operator, just to be certain there would be no later regrets,
Wisely called the Air Force and they alerted a squadron of their jets!
The copilot proffered a prayer saying, "Lord, have mercy on us please!
Help, Lord! Landing this bird alone will test my fortitude and expertise!"
In the meantime good Samaritans helped the pilot to escape his cell!
He scampered to the cockpit to take charge and all turned out well!
This mortifying escapade will be long remembered in airline lore,
About the pilot whose wings were clipped by a faulty lavatory door!
