They called her ugly, fat and stupid
Hair tussled and unkempt
She was laughed out of her home
Chased across desert and mountain
She fought back
Found a world where she fit in
Hippies, drugs and sex filled her life
She sang words of her torture
Traveled the world telling of her life
Everyone listened but no one cared
She died all alone
Everyone mourned the world’s loss
Her words and music live on
Sung by millions who do not understand
The pain that went into each word
Feelings that only she knew
A life that ended way too soon
And gave us the Janis we all love
Years after she left this world.
Form:
I thought I heard your voice calling to me from deep within the night
Telling me how much you love me, how we would be together again soon, and all would be
alright
I opened my eyes and you were no where in sight
I closed them quickly and held them shut tight
Hopeing for a chance that one moment to hear your voice again, I couldn't, but I tried so
hard with all my might
There's such a connection with you and I, there always has been, and I know you feel it to
Everywhere I look, and in everything I do, it all reminds me of you
So how do you do it, I need to know
How can you let me fade away and let me, in any part of your life, just go?
Let the story of our lives together forever go untold
How can you just push me back on down
Back into your secret place and not hear the sounds
The emotions screaming so quietly and vague yet oh so loud
The moments, memories, and feelings with me however, will always be around
Might as well face it to one another you and I are definitely bound
Why do you think years ago we were brought together, letting love between us be found?
Your looking for someone you can give your heart to and keep consistently burning in your
sensitive soul
That's why you can never completely let me go
You can never give me the words to just let me move on, but your not just trying to keep
over me that kind of control
A part of you believes that I could very well be right in what I'm saying
You're worried about those words hurting me, but yet you're more scared that if you do that
you may not get me back when you realize our love IS a game still very much worth playing
I know for some reason and some how
You for surely feel the same way for me now
Tell me please-
Do you hear my voice calling to you from deep within the night?
Telling you how much I love you, how we will be together again soon, and that all will be
alright
Do you then open your eyes only to find I'm no where in sight?
Then closing them quickly again and hold them shut tight
Hopeing for the chance that one moment where you can hear my voice, and you can't, but
you tried so hard with all your might
Well I ask you this final question then-
When will you finally once and for all admit to yourself how you truly feel and give up this
damn fight?
This pen now wants some rest,
this mind is now tired a lot,
like a mute bird in its nest
no more song now,no more thoughts.
This mind is now tired a lot,
though the moon is in the sky
no more song now,no more thoughts,
no more words now,don't ask me why.
Though the moon is in the sky,
your eyes still so blue and deep,
no more words now,don't ask me why
give me a break now,let me sleep.
Your eyes still so blue and deep;
like a mute bird in its nest
give me a break now,let me sleep,
this pen now wants some rest.

PANTOUM--A rare form of poetry similar to a villanelle. It is composed of a series of quatrains; the second and fourth lines of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next. This pattern continues for any number of stanzas, except for the final stanza, which differs in the repeating pattern. The first and third lines of the last stanza are the second and fourth of the penultimate; the first line of the poem is the last line of the final stanza, and the third line of the first stanza is the second of the final. Ideally, the meaning of lines shifts when they are repeated although the words remain exactly the same: this can be done by shifting punctuation, punning, or simply recontextualizing.

Sitting on a city street bench in the rain;
Raindrops disguise the tears upon her face;
People rushing by, umbrellas raised,
Hurrying to find a dryer place.
In her hands the paper sags and drips;
The words may fade but not the prognosis;
How will she tell her seven year old son,
That yesterday’s birthday will be her last one?
Sitting on a city street bench in the rain;
Lacking the resolve to head back home again;
A single mother burdened with the news,
Her fight against this monster she will loose.
Thirty-six candles were on her cake;
She wished the first tests were a mistake;
Her son helped ensure they all blew out;
Now she sits in the rain and wants to shout.
Sitting on a city street bench in the rain;
The hoards passing by pay her no mind;
The words to say to her darling little boy
The crying, weeping lady cannot find.
Sitting on a city street bench in the rain…
Do you want to see?
What love’s pain looks like?
Wait, I will hold my heart out
In plain sight
See the wounds that she caused by rejection?
See the holes from the lack of her affection
See the rents caused by my depression
Because of rips from her adulterous confession
The slashes from her harsh words she said
And the bits hacked off from the jealousy in my head
There you can see, I tried to patch it up with tears
Only to sever my hear again with “How can I live without you fear”
Friends tried with consoling words to heal my pain
She just tramples my heart and mashes up my brain
Do you to see
What love’s pain looks like?
I hold my heart out
It is attached to a spike
She turned her head, looking back at the crosswalk, with her feet slapping the ground as cold
rain poured down her neck. Tears mingled with the fat pounding drops, that stuck her cocoa
brown hair to her face as she wept silently. His words rang in her ears, “There are just some
choices............ you can never take back.” Her heart wrenched at his last few syllables, and
she felt completely overwhelmed with nausea. His words were like poison from a snake bite,
so full of venom it felt as if her chest walls began to ache and her breathing began to slow.
She felt as if she was the lead ballerina in the ballet the Red Shoes, as the world seemed to
spin out of control. Spinning so quickly but fearing the fall, where no one would be there to
catch her at the end.
Anxiety attack, now as her tunnel vision clouded her eyes. She felt the world waver around
her, and all became a blur. Like when your a kid, and your father picked you up high above
his head and spun you about. Laura barely was aware that she was even standing, let alone
standing in the rain while mothers rushed their children inside, and the wind began to pick
up. Her skin was growing warmer, even though the rain two degrees above zero. In her
anguish she winced as she felt that as if her skin was set on fire. Cars swept past her, yet
she felt as if she were the only person left on earth in her sorrow. She shivered as the rain
water dripped loudly in her ears, only hearing the reverberation of the last words he ever
spoke to her. “I never want to see you again............”
Laura started to run, as she wildly pumped her arms to pick up her speed. She ran so fast
that she could taste blood in her mouth, and her saliva, like glue made it harder to breath
stuck to the back of her throat. Laura didn’t care, that she was pushing her body so far that
it hurt, because beneath that physical hurt, there was another kind of pain. A pain that shows
no bruising or outward cuts. Her heart was completly broken. As a 20 year old, in a very big
world. She had made him her entire world. She was unable to distinguish a life without him
there.

I am trying to remember the last time we were happy,
Every time I think I have it nailed down I come up empty.
Each moment I think I can get past it with some word or fight,
You show the reasons I fell in love, with kindness and insight.
The torture of finding a path through this labyrinth of pain,
Is knowing that all was preventable without even a stain.
Truth is the foundation of a well built home,
I couldn’t straighten it out with an iron and fine toothed comb.
I don’t know how long I will last,
As the one who let you down in the past.
My mind wishes only happiness for you and your life,
But my heart still sees you as my darling wife.
My words are slowing and my mind is growing weary,
For the past few months my eyes have never been more teary.
These words are not for you to hear or be reading,
But for me as I try and stop my soul from bleeding.
As you move on in strength and beauty,
My heart and mind crumble from my failed duty.
Sweetness
Suddenly the sweetness around the moon!
Set an open fire with magic into my heart.
A campfire burning deep within.
Found a way to kick start my heart again.
Flowing with flowers in the midnight skies.
Feelings of butterflies passing right before my eyes.
A basket of ribbons turning my stomach into knots.
Gave me pleasure to know life's hidden thoughts...
A sweet spell to your compel....
Fell in to my laps like the secret of forbidden lust......
Dreaming that captivate the energy of me and you....
lost inside the demons,, no one can trust.....
Suddenly my heart turned into rust!
Now I sink like yesterdays fallen star.
Singing words that sadden my soul to the floor.
Lost into the darkness, hiding in the corner of my room.
Denying the faces of reality.
Forgetting about the pleasure of my own sensuality.
A desire to reject my own dignity.
Stuck with the affliction that life has no meaning.
A sour taste to the rotten words I curse....
I fell into the wishing well of an evil spell....
Dreams that put my heart to sleep with out thirst....
Found the angles, that released my curse....
