When the wood to the fire that fuels us runs out and our flame flickers within, we can fully rely on God’s illuminating lantern that can be seen through all forms of darkness, confusion, and has the everlasting flame of hope and a wick that never runs short. Stay in the light.
Hope is like a flame that never gives up its brightness or shine. Some days the ugly side of life opens its mouth wide and spews troublesome wind that howls and screams, trying to snuff out that flame. Other days the still flame stands alone and just wants to be found so that it may give you comfort and relief, but is often overlooked. Nerveless the flame shines on.
Hope is the security that you attain in life so you can have reassurance within you that you will not be overtaken by adversities. It is a free gift of precious armor constructed in Heaven by the finest of angels. The armor was melted down into shape, measured perfectly, and given to you to wear for all of this life like an inflated vest that keeps your head above the violent waves that this life can try to drown you in.
Hope is the promise of rain when the sky is full of storm clouds. Hope is in the night when you’re praying for morning to come quicker. Hope is in the young and the old. Hope is for the hopeless. Hope is a robe of love that is a one size fits all. Hope will find you before you seek it out. Hope offers itself to you like a secure shelter to take refuge in like being in the middle of a relentless storm. Hope always has its arms wide open for you. Take a step closer and embrace hope in an everlasting bond.
Hope will make you put one foot in front of the other to the point where your left foot will be jealous that your right foot is taking a step ahead and then your right foot will be jealous about your left foot going forward until that gentle walk in the light becomes to be a joyful and exciting sprint to the next part of life.
Dear Lord,
Lead us to stable ground and refuge for our aching hearts to rest and heal.
Help us not to overlook the hope that You offer.
We venture to far places in this life God.
We know that You are before us so that we may follow You in Your loving foot steps.
God, You love everyone and anyone.
For Your love is infinite and gentle.
Jesus Christ, blow Your powerful wind our way so our sails can catch the current and lead us to smoother sailing. Amen.
Form:
When my eyes met his,
Met his, for the first time
I could discern a ray of
incensed passion and love
intense, so I thought, piercing
gently my heart and filling it
with true love, so I thought;
so thinking, I surrendered
myself to him, like a fool
only to allow him to have
all liberties with me and freely
play the game of love, for I
thought without doubting
even a wee bit that he would
remain, my man of love, and
ever so till we live ..............
Love's true devotee to one another
But oh ! how will I, say that now
he chided me today, for no reason or rhyme
and in a fit of anger, said he loved me no more
and left me, deserting me all at once;
I remained in great shock thereafter
God knows for how long, till
I came to my sense to, realize
that I was cheated by the very man
whom I thought was Eros and me his Venus,
All these thoughts suddenly vanished
vanished into thin air
And I lie here, under the tree I met him
for the first time, writhing in pain inconsolable
And now see the very ray of hope that he shot
at me when our eyes first met, piercing my
heart, shattering it, emptying it of the nectar of love
I thought it poured in first.
And I now remain emancipated from this love false
realizing at last the meaning of true love
from this experience so bitter
bitten by pangs of false love and deceit
of a man whom I reckoned wrongly
was going to be my Eros in life.
oh women harping love
please beware of men
who wander for lust
wandering as foxes
in the robe of deer.
Three Score and Fifteen Years Ago
By Franklin Price
11/14/2020
Three score and fifteen years ago
I was born upon this earth
Joined a family of eight,
Was the ninth, for what it's worth
Four sisters and two brothers
A mother, father there for me
I was to be the last of them
That nevermore would be
Was brought home to my siblings
Who were shown I was a boy
They were told it was not Christmas
That I was not a little toy
Spread of ages, ten long years
Stuart Taylor to begin
Then, Nancy Ruth and Shirley Lou
Stopping then, would be a sin
Earl Joseph, Laura Gertrude
Were the next ones in the game
Judith Carol just before me
Franklin Arthur is my name
Brought home to Merritt Island
Yes, the one of lunar lore
Was then a growing citrus place
Barely had a country store
We had no city water
No AC then, you know
No TV there for watching
Listened to the radio
Milk brought by the milkman
Port Canaveral had no cruise
Truman was the president
The local paper brought the news
Many years have gone by
Helped shoot man to the moon
My father and my mother gone
Some siblings, way to soon
Nancy Ruth and Laura Gertrude
And myself are still around
They're now octogenarians
Five more years and I'll be crowned
My life has been exceptional
The best wife for fifty years
In seven days it's fifty-one
Can still remember that from here
Left High School in sixty four
Sixty- eight in Vietnam
Sixty-nine sent man off to the moon
It's great to be the who I am
Married, November, sixty-nine
To my wife and daughter too
They were the rocks within my life
For the things that I would do
Involved with start up ventures
Traveled all around the globe
Collected hotel ashtrays
Lots of shampoo and a robe
Had my own small business
A little longer than a score
Rode on Harley cycles
Three hundred thousand miles and more
Rode all the lower forty-eight
Three provinces above
A thousand miles in Africa
All of these with my true love
So you see it's been a great life
And I'm only seven- five
I got up this fine morning
It's still great to be alive
Friends and family, who read this
And know of these things I say
Know you helped to make it great
As I traveled on the way
Here's a toast to all of us
And the passed days since our birth
I'm sending love to all of you
For all that may be worth
It was like the apocalypse
Dark skies
Lined up in rows
How we got there
No one knows.
Chatting all around
Most seemed to have a good
time.
Then he came around
Unseen but heard
Voice so shrieking it made
children cry
And just like that
There was a dusty light in the
sky
First came the wind
So sharp it cut humans
Like diamond needles going
150mph.
All you could see,
Selected rows
They turn into dust.
Searing pains of emotions
They flow through all
Watching as many family's fall.
When rows filled with people
Turn into ash of dust
That's when people started
moving,
Survival of the fittest is so it
seem.
But then came the lights
So bright and blinding
Going across rows where
people moved,
But not hitting those who stood
still.
Moving at the speed of light
This light came and went
Before anyone could blink.
Once a row of people
Now piles of ash
Going through isles
With no intent to stop.
As soon as it came
It was all over.
And what was a population
Was now only a few thousand.
Covered in dust
We heard a noise,
Telling all of us
To line in fours.
Three lines were incredibly
small
But the first line
That was way too full.
Was the worst mistake to
make.
Inside the voice that was heard
That shirked when spoken
Turning into a figure
Dark as night.
There was no face
There where no visible parts
Black robe
Black coverings
And a scythe so silvery clear.
Walking down a black building
That had just appeared.
What was heard next were
screams!
From death himself
About how the first line
Was way too long.
Without a chance to move
A quick breeze went through
Split the line in half.
With one quick swift.
The front started to run.
As for the others, blood went
down their faces
They lined up in the other
three.
Then something weird
happened
Line three started to run
As line two became frozen.
But one.
So brave
She walked out of line
Heading straight to death.
Given a chance to speak,
One thing had been said.
"Death, when can we go"
As she stared
Waiting for a response.
Scared for her life,
At this black spooky figure
He turned to her.
And then what was happening
Became nothing,
And she woke up
Back into the real life.
Where everything she just seen
Had all been a dream.
Ancient Greek and Roman Epigrams
Stranger, rest your weary legs beneath the elms;
hear how coolly the breeze murmurs through their branches;
then take a bracing draught from the mountain-fed fountain;
for this is welcome shade from the burning sun.
—Anyte, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
Here I stand, Hermes, in the crossroads
by the windswept elms near the breezy beach,
providing rest to sunburned travelers,
and cold and brisk is my fountain’s abundance.
—Anyte, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
Sit here, quietly shaded by the luxuriant foliage,
and drink cool water from the sprightly spring,
so that your weary breast, panting with summer’s labors,
may take rest from the blazing sun.
—Anyte, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
This is the grove of Cypris,
for it is fair for her to look out over the land to the bright deep,
that she may make the sailors’ voyages happy,
as the sea trembles, observing her brilliant image.
—Anyte, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
There is nothing sweeter than love.
All other delights are secondary.
Thus, I spit out even honey.
This is what Gnossis says:
Whom Aphrodite does not love,
Is bereft of her roses.
—Nossis, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
Most revered Hera, the oft-descending from heaven,
behold your Lacinian shrine fragrant with incense
and receive the linen robe your noble child Nossis,
daughter of Theophilis and Cleocha, has woven for you.
—Nossis, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
Stranger, if you sail to Mitylene, my homeland of beautiful dances,
to indulge in the most exquisite graces of Sappho,
remember I also was loved by the Muses, who bore me and reared me there.
My name, never forget it!, is Nossis. Now go!
—Nossis, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
Pass me with ringing laughter, then award me
a friendly word: I am Rinthon, scion of Syracuse,
a small nightingale of the Muses; from their tragedies
I was able to pluck an ivy, unique, for my own use.
—Nossis, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch

In the cabaret hall of the Hotel,
the stage was set for her 'Night Show',
the hall was lit but not so bright
dim it was and made to look so
to give an air of weird intoxication
tables and chairs were arranged
for the guests who 'd reserved
to drink and dine and watch the
show of the night
The guests at last arrived
And had occupied their chairs reserved,
And the stage was set for the much
awaited cabaret show to take off
Suddenly the hall plunged into quietude,
The curtains of the cabaret stage went up
And there was music pouring from
a corner of the stage from an orchestra
of local repute, and there she appeared
the cabaret girl, the star of the night
in her shiny glittering robe with feathers
round her waist.....and she began to dance
soon, the dance of twists and jerks
that went as if unstoppable with the
dancing beauty showing apparently
no signs of tiredness, until the clock struck 12 O'CLOCK
When suddenly, the lights went off
and the hall plunged into darkness and there
was a lull, and there appeared a bundle of a
focussed stream of light pointing to the
girl dancing as she began the last item
of the day...'the strip-tease' and she remained
devoid of her robes for a few seconds and
disappeared into the stage ...........
Into the green room, she sank into her
couch, a tired and lustreless woman
cursing her fate
My friends are among the stars
Clearest of crystals, each of them a pearl,
Like drop of dew on the lotus leaf in sunshine:
You came into my life, filled it with joys unique
And just as suddenly left me and went away.
Abandoned me to face the crises of life alone
Unaided by the wisecracks, the pranks , the mischief,
The unprintable titles you gave to our adversaries!
I look for you in the stars, perhaps you are there
I am not sure. I ask you why, why did you make me
Feel so special and helped me rise above self pity
And entertain dreams when we were all just a bunch
Of spoiled brats who couldn’t make it to the heights
In an atmosphere unfriendly and hostile to all.
Why, why did you have to go away and drop out
Of the rat race and leave me struggling with angst
And fighting misfortune. With you, I felt so secure.
None would tear down the sand castles we built
Nor remind us we were nuts. You gave us the vision
And the opposition always marched past with respect.
Like the vainglorious king who was made to wear
The ‘precious royal robe’ that none but he could see.
But the Truthful children found out it was a fraud
To shame the tyrant who was a terror to his subjects
But an easy victim to the crafty guys who preyed
On his craving for fame and made him appear nude
To his subjects and humbled him as an imbecile.
A joke today says humanityis in three big groups
The cheats, the vainglorious and the donothings.
Is it true and if so the world moves on the idlers,
Cracks jokes at them and says they are unfortunate!
We made life worth living. And we lived like real kings
Fought to preserve our piece of earth, our self esteem.
I should be grateful to have lived so long
But I feel the pain of separation: the longing
For the past that is, without mercy, gone.
Maybe you’re lucky, you left and got the best seats.
I may linger some more and try some more and keep
Wishing you were here with me and assure me the end is not yet,
That before the day is gone a golden chariot come
And bear me to empyrean heights never seen before;
I pray for you that is all I do for the help You gave me.
Enjoy the peace in the best of heavens,
You’re the real Stars of my life,
I’ll never be far or away from you.
I shall always love you and honor you,
Friendship is for ever, life immaterial.
There were several women nearby who were crying and wailing over this condemned
man. The convicted man turned slowly towards them and that was the first time Simon heard
him speak.
Breathlessly, the convict stopped and quietly spoke to these lamenting women. Simon
stopped with him under the weight of the beam. Simon never understood these words at that
time, .. but he never forgot them. This blood soaked, ravaged dirty half dead man turned to
the women and rasped ,…
“Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me …but weep for yourselves and your
children.“ He caught his breath, wiped the dust and blood from his eyes with the ragged
sleeve of his torn robe and continued…“For indeed the days are coming in which
they will say, “Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never
nursed!”
The crowd had already become silent to hear what the accused was saying, because this
kind of talk was unheard of in a time when bearing children and mother hood was considered
extremely holy and a gift directly from God Himself. It was proof that he must have been
possessed!
He continued , blood dripping from swollen lips, “Then they will begin to say to the
mountains, “Fall on us!!” and to the hills, “Cover us!!” …“For if they do these things While I
am with you,…what will they do when I am gone?” …… The sound of a lash slapped across his
torn bloody back and he shuffled forward but not before looking directly into Simon’s eyes..
The crowd again took up their noisy, morbid mission.
Simon grunted under the weight of the beam and thought they all sounded like a pack of
hungry jackals. He was certainly confused and inexplicably terrified.
After that gruesome unholy nightmare ended and for the rest of his life while walking the
hills, he kept hearing and was haunted by this man’s words over and over and wondered
what on earth they could mean.
“ Do not weep for Me…but weep for yourselves and your children…for indeed the days
are coming in which they will say, “Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and
breasts which never nursed!!”......
This, to the people of his time was impossible! Children were a holy gift from God himself.
Blessed are the wombs that never bore...and breasts that never nursed?! What could he
have meant?
Allow God to embrace your heart
I love everybody
All of humanity
As you read these words
You know me but I'm sure
I must encourage you, this I must do
Why? you ask because I love you
If we all were to love each other
With our eyes close, we would stumble,
Fall and drop the rose
Open you eyes grasp the steam
Embrace the hearts of your fellow man
Why do I say that I love you
It's because God has given me a choice to
Don't you realize that heaven was also on earth
And that out of our disobedience we were cursed
As you read these words
You don't know me but I'm sure
I must encourage you, this I must do
Why? you ask because I love you
There's no sensual, sexual, sinister reason though
It's not about me it's all Jesus. to learn and share agape love
Take heed share with me the free liberty, love real
Be not fake and love religiously
Be what God wants us to be, forgiving, forbearing, share and caring
Let's us not be afraid, love each other as the bible says
Do for me as I'd do for you share your knees with the floor
Pray for other, you, me and the world
Your trial is your testimony, imagine it when your done with it
You'll have the victory
So let us love our neighbor as thy self
Put on your robe, your crown of thorns and let's praise and worship Jesus
Why do I say that I love you
It's because God has given me a choice to
Don't you realize that heaven was also on earth
And that out of our disobedience we were cursed
Lastly but eternally I shall always say, that I love you
This is Jesus way
I love you for your human and you are loved
I love you for your a man, woman, boy and girl
I love you for your mind, I love you for kind
I love you for your race, no matter the color of your face
I love you for you're elderly, I love you for your wrongs
I love you for goods your bads when your happy or sad
I love you for the peace of your sweet release
I love you for you who am I to judge
I love you cause we're all just sinners, SAVED by grace
And when you're done reading this verse
Give your closest loved one a hug and a kiss
God loves you more than I, I can't judge I've no heaven nor hell to send you
I love humanity just because I SHOULD
You are not broken but chosen Be blessed
Allow God to embrace your heart
I love everybody
All of humanity

Begin at the beginning is a good place to start
It makes this poem less tart
sliding from oozed cocoon box
the lions have dens, the holes for fox
screaming is the first noise issued
followed by the orchestra, snap of tissued
help, first comfort, live source
growing, crawling, helped by guiding force
noise, turns to speech of understanding
running with friends, heart finding new palpating
severed from Mother, put into class
many hours of sunshine day passed by glass
innocence and imagination creeping
in Mind, sponge of perpetual learning
Ten, innocence flirting with early romance
ending child-like state, maturity dominance
father gone, replaced by foreign rule
never seen someone so cruel
Middle and High, progress to Schools
thrown into pens with some fools
many friends, smorgasbord variety
some try maintaining sense of piety
learn more about self but not all from schooling
secret meetings of passion, extreme heat, then cooling
growing both physically/mentally
stress where to go, what possibly
JC, CSU, UC?
sometimes they don't let you see
more to life then this madness
never seem to reveal or confess
Robe, with tassel hat and gown
some stand up and some go down
scattered pearls among swine
some go far, some stay close, all fine
some going here and there
some make it with bruises, some skin fair
becoming adults, transitional line
hardships or smooth sailing we will fine
working and schooling
but who are we fooling
it can be hard, stressful for sure
sickness, flu season, try to find a cure
death, taken without warning
all of these memories consuming
had to get this out to you all
before my brain-kept fall
seeing life and all its glory
all its pitfalls, sometimes gory
side, summarizing here
shell-shocked there and there
flowers all in a row
my mind will grow and grow
internal struggle through Academia and depression
the world, external, reflecting recession
we will pull through, hope
Don't let them simply say, "Nope"
life, roller-coaster up 'n' down
spin, spin, Dervish gown
everything turns this way and that
skinny, bloated and fat
but Joseph crawled from the well
after being pushed and fell
light returns after cycle, night
sometimes we must throw-done, fight
don't give up, keep going
keep doing what your doing
