Trip of Tribulation

I spent my day shopping with Ruby
(I find her an absolute pain)
              Torturous tale to transmit truthfully
              You'll kindly let me explain...

Friday I purchase veg and fruit routinely
              A schedule pleasing to retain
Ruby put a spanner in habit supremely
              Consumed by cranky campaign

Fondling each ripe piece - ridiculous
              Their intact skin forsaken
              Commentary made us conspicious
My cheeks stung pink as bacon

              Fumbling excursion injected remorse
              In friendly familiar domain
              Ruby's cruel fruit critiquing discourse
              Done with utter disdain

Finally (red faced), we got to register
              - feat she pulled when paying
Whole shop hushed as a seminar
              Short change accusation relaying

In dulcet tones in foyer, I refuted it
             Calm voice rigorous to contain
Ruby's shrill insisted the fruit was s**t
Plus she'd have to check coins again

Adament she had been ripped off
              - I found the debarcle innane
              Cash register accuracy blatantly scoffed
              Treatment of clerk barely humane

             Pressed lipped shoppers regarded us
A pair of loons, I shaking frustrated
Hoped the dear got hit hard by a bus!
Notched her up to cousin most hated

Premium Member My God, Thank You For Your Omnipotent Reign

December 29 Scripture Meditations Based on Revelation 19-20

Key Verse – Revelation 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR YOUR OMNIPOTENT REIGN

Thank You for Your omnipotent reign, transforming my personality
By Your divine creativity
Midst academic rigorous tenacity
Toward Your help for submissive and pleasing humility.

Thank You for Your omnipotent reign, checking my ignorance
By Your truthful endurance
Midst foolish deceitful appearance
Toward Your wisdom for confident and trusting assurance.

Thank You for Your omnipotent reign, abasing my disobedience
By Your compassionate diligence
Midst rebellious defiant resurgence
Toward Your grace for joyful and willing dependence.

Thank You for Your omnipotent reign, correcting my stubbornness
By Your great goodness
Midst ambitious personal selfishness
Toward Your guidance for gentle and inspiring kindness.

Thank You for Your omnipotent reign, encouraging against my worries
By Your glorious victories
Midst perilous injurious miseries
Toward Your gladness for triumphant and cheering stories.

Thank You for Your omnipotent reign, satisfying my discontentment
By Your plentiful supplement
Midst vain futile engagement
Toward Your sufficiency for plenteous and abounding dependence.

Thank You for Your omnipotent reign, guiding against my doubts
By Your wise routes
Midst skeptic critical shouts
Toward Your discernment for sure and uplifting whereabouts.

Premium Member The Jewish Fallacy

I am smart
And God told me this is how it is
(My smartness enabling me to recognize God)
And so what I say
(Being what God told me)
Then is correct and true
And, perhaps most importantly, unique,
(Because God told me).
And the fact He told my whole tribe at once
(Through the intermediary Moses)
Makes it proven to be true
(Even though there is no other proof).
And this is the ground,
The very Holy Land itself,
I stand upon.

This is all well and good
For forming the basis of a distinct civilization
Unified and bonded on ethnic grounds,
But it doesn’t do so well
In the broader world of many other civilizations,
And tribal bonds,
Each with their own creation myths,
Each equally valid
For explaining what is,
And how it binds the tribe together
And thus apart
From all the rest.

It also doesn’t hold up to rigorous logic
Where the postulate needs more proof
Than the postulated existence
Of said postulate.
What it does do is provide a context
For confidence and solidarity
Within the tribe
And the self of each member.
But again, this is what all selves and tribes have
To some degree or another.

But when the Jews say
They have a special covenant with God,
And with their intellectual skill
Explain it in elaborate detail
Convincing at least themselves,
What they are really doing is merely adding a layer
Onto what simply is
(In their case, so and so people
In such and such place),
And although this intellectual conceptual layer,
Held to be The Truth,
Is distinctly Jewish,
The underlying reality of what is,
Is universal
And so the basis for whatever every other tribe
Thinks about itself, its origins and its world.

In others words, all religions are different
In how this world and life is explained,
But this world and life is the same for each of us
Until we become convinced
The conceptual layer our religion provides
Is true.

And heaven help those
Who disagree…

Premium Member Serving God Offers

Serving God offers no bed of roses
With obvious “thorns in the flesh” sorrows
Brought by persecution darts and arrows
Yet, He upholds me with His promises.

Following God requires my yielded heart
Despite despair from rigorous struggles
Midst entrapment in challenges-tangles
Thus, in Christ, I stay; never to depart.

Pursuing after God gives sure delight
While I entreat for His gracious favor
Trusting that He is pleased with faith’s fervor
Glowing in the brightness of service light.

Abiding in God refreshes my soul
While I linger in His joyous presence
Enclosed by divine peace-iridescence
Confessed sin-guilt pardoned, making me whole.

Seeking God ushers me to His wisdom
Attesting great sovereign omniscience
Defying lustful, worldly, proud conscience
Toward love-propped ministerial kingdom.

Premium Member If Only I Could

If only I could shake off long rigorous winter;
and embrace secret hidden in the cool of spring.

Enlivened by nature; the twitter sound of the Scarlet Tanager,
its red-orange and black feathers, the flame of spring.

As the natural oak loses its yellowish-beige,
worm-like male catkins dress everything in sight
with its yellow pollen; leaving tiny female flowers
for new growth on the limbs.

If only I could see the Overwinter Oak Leaf Rollers
green caterpillars that later turn into adult moths,
feed and hang on silk thread from the leaves
and branches then fall to the ground.

Brown May beetles attracted to the light
And wobble when they fly or walk.

If only I could see the sunlight reft
through sturdy limbs and myriad leaves
of trees and shrubs and from somewhere
hear the rapid clatter drumming sound
of the harbinger of spring, of a single woodpecker.

If only I could see the brilliant and stunning plumage colours
of the blue Jay and the red cardinal and hear them sing
their melodies so freely; feed on sweet pleasing berries,
grown amid full foliage that have had soaked
in the open warm radiant sun.

If only I could shake off long rigorous winter;
and embrace secret hidden in the cool of spring.

The Lord is so kind to shower his bountiful blessings for one and all. It is for the the perceptive mind to realise and be thankful for them always.

Almighty aligns all atoms of a rare creation
Blessed beings beget beautious revelation

Clairvoyant clergies chant Holy hymns
Delightful deific divinity solemnly sings

Ethereal evangelics eye His secret signals
Faithful figures foretell subliminal symbols

Gorgeous glorious godly is His universe
Holy heavenly ambrosia He does nurse

Immaculate inimitable perfection He paints
Just judicious jubilate jewelled are His saints

Kindness knowlege are virtues to imbibe
Luminous lustrous light to instill inside

Merciful magnanimous He forgives faults
Never needlessly He ordains our assaults

Omniscient omnipotent He provides for all
Paradisiacal plentiful profuse bounties tall

Quenching our needs but not the greeds
Retribution rigorous He logs on sin deeds

Sacred sacrosanct sermons if we all sing
Transcendent tranquil lives He will bring

Unimpeachable universal laws if we hold
Venerated blessings we get from His fold

Premium Member Wisdom From God We Need

God’s wisdom is what we need…
…Such upholds the veracity of our salvation-brace
While we face various challenges along life’s race
Midst struggles marked by sinfulness and weakness’ trace…
For us to stand on the winning side of His awesome grace.

God’s wisdom is what we must ask for…
…Such arms our sanctification-holiness
While battling against many facets of unrighteousness
Midst enticements of materialism and worldliness…
For us to do good works in His will’s truthfulness.

God’s wisdom is what we seek…
…Such secures our soul from doubts’ infirmities
While we conquer several stages of difficulties
Midst sufferings brought by atrocities and calamities…
For us to trust His unfailing promises’ certainties.

God’s wisdom is what depend on…
…Such intensifies our standard-convictions
While we flee from different angles of temptations
Midst allurements packed by lust and deceit’s intentions…
For us to follow His instructions toward heavenly decisions.

God’s wisdom is what we must lean unto…
…Such corrects our human-ignorance
While we subdue pride of towering arrogance
Midst ambitions of personal and carnal extravagance…
For us to stay humble under His great deliverance.

God’s wisdom is what we pray for…
…Such proves our self-denials
While we pass through tough and rigorous trials
Midst persecutions along foes’ betrayals…
For us to reach service-triumph’s peak thru His miracle-portrayals.

God’s wisdom* is what we share…
…Such powers our labor-victory
WhiIe we do His will for His glory
Midst hindrances in proclaiming Gospel story
For us to rescue the perishing from hell’s fury.
