Serving God Offers
Serving God offers no bed of roses
With obvious “thorns in the flesh” sorrows
Brought by persecution darts and arrows
Yet, He upholds me with His promises.
Following God requires my yielded heart
Despite despair from rigorous struggles
Midst entrapment in challenges-tangles
Thus, in Christ, I stay; never to depart.
Pursuing after God gives sure delight
While I entreat for His gracious favor
Trusting that He is pleased with faith’s fervor
Glowing in the brightness of service light.
Abiding in God refreshes my soul
While I linger in His joyous presence
Enclosed by divine peace-iridescence
Confessed sin-guilt pardoned, making me whole.
Seeking God ushers me to His wisdom
Attesting great sovereign omniscience
Defying lustful, worldly, proud conscience
Toward love-propped ministerial kingdom.
*Matthew 16:24 "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."
