Standing at this crossroads looking at a signpost pointing to Hell
Where its interest befalls me with a curiosity I so needed to quell
Looking over my shoulder to see if anyone who may just be looking on
And with the coast clear until up that road without hesitation I was gone
All seemed normal as the farmers in their fields went about their daily toil
As they churned over the earth with their ploughs to raise up that fresh soil
No darken woods, Grim Reaper with his scythe, or beady eyed crows
Leaving me thoughtful as to just where this long and winding road goes
Bird’s ducking and diving within the hedgerows while chirping along
Feeling safe in my solitude sang out with a broken voice, into a song
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound;
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear;
The hour I first believed
Through many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine
But God, who called me here below,

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,

We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise,
Than when we’d first begun
I continued to sing up that long and winding road and then on beyond
Without fearing not should Hell or its demon Satan would respond
Until I reached its highest peak and settled to gain my well-earned rest
Where I then came to a realization that the road to Hell was none other than a test
And In my own deliberation of curiously questioning of just what Hell was all about
I had in fact walked the path of righteousness that in the end gave me less to doubt
O yeah, I once was lost - but now am found - was blind but now can see
I went up that road fearing nothing and found how that road to Hell had set me free
O yeah, had set me free

How dare you proclaim sanctimonious innocence
Innocent you may be as the cheese house rat
Evidence in the stench of your unrighteous fat
Try to paint a picture with your vain empty words

I cannot look past your self-contained righteousness

during the quiet calm
of serene panting
beneath saint Cecilia's tomb
i'd began to wander
about stone structures
captured in sorted monuments
one would nestle so tranquil
throughout sudden raptures
gathered about Di Vatican's scrolls
tainted with forgotten truths
of mortified mystery
and gentle grievances
reaping beholding the just
of twilight laughter
a broken chalice
opening a wooden door
of surviving Florence
in nineteen forty three
karma arises behind
uncovered ashes
hindering the brutal
mindful beings clinging
to forgiveness needing naught
for chastising the greedy
accordingly upright
and slow to righteousness
a graveness thought of

Looking back having God's good hand
throughout my life, I can testify
of His goodness and mercy
for He's heard my constant cry
A few highlights along the way
being adopted soon after birth
brought up in a loving stable home
God's goodness so full of worth
Always in employment all my years
till early retirement in 2013
God the great provider forever be
His loving hand was always seen
Marriage became my way twice
wedded Jean in '81, such bliss
lost her a year later caused such grief
but Jesus came with a new life of His
Then met Christine and wed '90
look back on happy years so great
seeing the Lord's hand so evident
holding us together on one long date
I've known God's healing hand
in recent years with a powerful touch
firstly prostate cancer came my way
then diabetes came but here I do stand
All of my life I've had bad stammer
at times it's been a real pain
but God's made me content to be still
for He sends His grace to sustain
God is good in all His ways
holding me up no matter my state
where would I be without His care
look forward to passing in heaven's gat
(Looking back on God's goodness throughout my life and his faithfulness to me.)
