Premium Member My Foster Family

Mommy is a neighborhood feline stray.
She has two 5 week old kittens. I feed them all everyday.
Mommy had more to her litter, but a roaming male stray
slaughtered most of them, but these two miraculously escaped.
Believing that she had lost all of her offspring,
Mommy immediately went into heat again
and was impregnated by her roaming male companion
who moments earlier had killed most of her children.
Her maternal instinct is now geared towards her unborn offspring.
As for her two surviving kittens? She has abandoned them.
These poor kittens will not survive and most likely die suffering,
but not on my watch. I'm rescuing them.
It is we who decided to domesticate them.
We made them and so in essence, they are our children
and we should all share our responsibility
for making the lives of our children just a little more easy.

*
Soon there will be two more additions to my foster family.
This added responsibility I do not need,
but I do so out of love unconditionally.

The Rainbow

It was a new year's party
Footfalls of the cups and glasses
Dances of the eyes and tongue
The time swung with the music
She wore a light pink lipstick
A lithe body of twenty
A handndsome cascade in the eyes
Time forgot to fly

Across the table
Sat a young man of about twenty one
The brilliant eyes there and then won
Her thoughts
The river and the yacht
The conversation spurred
Further invitations and meets
For the hungry heartbeats

They got married
One day in the evening
Were into a starry swing
Under the dream-filled stars
He talked of the Venus and Mars
Mentioned the milkyway and black holes
Adjusted the rose in the buttonhole
She recited Eliot under the oak and chestnut
The time rippling in the two pink huts

Just a few weeks later
When he was about to unveil the nature
Looking into the time and space
Amazed at its grace
To find out
If God really did not play
The dice with the universe
He was diagnosed with a deadly disease

She stood by refusing to be daunted
We will not allow it to be terminal
She was emphatic
As in the wheel chair
He would amble

Though the doctors gave no more than
Three years of life
The river resolved
To stand by the desert
The chlorophyll by the grey leaves
Eyes keeping close watch on the disease
She pieced together the broken sun
Aggregate of many a moment of the nun
Weaving his tattered confidence
With the wools of warm love for the husband
A fragrance of the garden

The home and family
Rested exclusively on her shoulders
Though overwhelmed
They carried out the responsibility
Ungrudginly

The disease relented
Its progress slackened
The stars in the night sky celebrated
The togetherness unbridled

He travelled on
From the summit to the next summit
Done it, she exclaimed

Together we are strong - Poetry Contest
Sponsored by: Silent One

Note : As I was not personally involved in what happened, I understand the poem might not fit into the frame of the sponsor. Still considering the strength of the togetherness highlighted in the poem I am entering it for the contest

Dear Father

Dear Father
(if that title ever belonged to you)
You were never a man.
You were an absence with a name.
You married a woman you did not protect,
broke her until survival looked like escape,
then watched her walk into the dark
with a baby in her arms
and called it not your problem.
You left us to hunger.
To beg.
To sleep wherever mercy failed last.
I watched other children stand tall
on shoulders you built for them,
while I learned early
how to fold myself smaller
so I would not be noticed,
so I would not be rejected again.
Your other children carry your surname like Armor.
I carry it like a wound.
When you died, nothing in me collapsed
because nothing was ever built.
No bedtime stories.
No hands to pull me back from danger.
No voice saying you are safe now.
Just silence.
Long.
Loud.
Cruel.
And yes
I blame you.
I blame you for the nights
my mother lied to my face with a smile
while terror shook her from the inside.
For the streets of Malvern at
2 a.m.,
where a woman and her child learned
how invisible desperation can be.
I blame you for the doors that closed
because we were poor,
because we were mixed,
because we were inconvenient.
You knew she was weak.
You knew she could not fight the world alone.
You knew what would happen to us
and still you chose comfort
over responsibility,
over blood,
over me.
I became a burden before I became a child.
Shelter came with conditions.
Silence came with survival.
And I learned that pain is something
you swallow whole
when speaking would cost you the ground beneath your feet.
You were supposed to be my roots.
Instead, I grew in cracks.
Bent.
Bruised.
Trampled.
People ask why I lack confidence.
How do you stand tall
when no one ever taught you
you had the right to exist?
I was never your angel.
I was never anyone’s priority.
I was just the consequence
of a man who walked away.
So don’t ask me to mourn you.
Don’t ask me to forgive you.
You died a stranger
who shaped my suffering from afar.
You were my father only in biology
never in love,
never in protection,
never in presence.
And if hell exists,
know this:
I survived you.
And you will never be able to say the same

Premium Member Jesus Remember Me

OH! Sweet and gentle Lord Jesus Christ,
Please remember me when you come into
Your kingdom! Jesus remember me when
You come into your kingdom! Yes it is
Very true you will always remember me!

On May 10, 2021 one of your children left
Far behind a sorrowful life that he was
Clearly in mourning for! Both he and his
Wife had an insulin overdose ending of
Their suffering lives and existence!

As his older sister by four years, it
Was my responsibility to talk him
Out of it! I prayed for him and they
Also did on All Poetry! Dale died
Peacefully in his sleep!

He was barely sixty three years
Old he died a few days after his
Sixty third birthday! He did not
Believe he would reach sixty three!

Instead of taking his own life, I
Convinced him to let you Jesus
Christ end his miserable life!
Our prayers were answered!
All Lord Jesus because of you!

Yes! Jesus Christ you did
Really remember Dale when he
Came into your heavenly
kingdom! And you will also
Remember yours truly!

Body, Soul and Spirit

Dear God, our fashion is but a façade
when our spirits are lifeless, dormant within.
Dead is the part that should walk with you, God.
Dark are the alleys we travel in sin..

The real me is that part that's worth saving.
We all give the body far too much weight -
the plush garments which our pride is craving,
the fancy hairdos and nails we create.

The real me only Jesus can perfect;
my mind may decay but not my soul.
No matter the training, we'll never connect
if deep at our core there lies a great hole.

This body is just a house for my soul;
My soul needs no ornaments to achieve.
Passions unreined, mind bent on control,
my greedy will I inherited from Eve.

Where rests my spirit that key piece of me?
the nucleus I use when I’m praying.
Communion with God can change mind and body
but not when my spirit is straying.

My mental state, God, must accept Your dressing.
Your gentle wisdom and love should fit me
for Christ-like submission and confessing
my “fig-leaf” attire is vain and flimsy.

Jesus, you're the Source people need to see.
Our soul’s lone covering - Your righteousness.
May folks see in us meekness and mercy
as we shine Your Light in peace and distress.

God, grant me calm towards my worst enemy.
Deep in my spirit sealing that huge hole
May your spirit dwell in me completely;
my body – Your temple – my highest goal.

I have never believed I would be blind
To eternal sunshine that's mind

The day you were born was the beginning
My heart's petals bloomed most compelling

Tears of joy I shed while I saw you smile
In my arms I knew the pain was worthwhile

Lullabies sung and hummed to bring comfort sleep
As you lay in your crib without a peep

Challenges as you grew with bumps and bruises with footfalls
Sticky fingers, scattered toys, fancy artwork on the walls

Meaningful memories as I look into your eyes
Of the mischief you use to get into, but I was wise

I'll always be here whenever you need me
Stand by you, whoever you decide to be

Eternal sunshine that was mind is still my total joy
Don't ever forget you will always be my little boy

I miss those days we took the time to enjoy
Reflecting in the year's past of your favorite toy

Was also your security blanket that you always kept near
A mere little stuff rabbit you loved so much dear

If it disappeared, it would always returned unstained
From the washing to the drier because it had been so stained

As you grew older the little artist and Shakespeare you became
Pictures, flowers, poems I would find I'd date and write your name

There were times fear overtook your little mind sweetheart
You would walk in your sleep until the pain would go away from your heart

You'd whisper in my ear to tell me you loved me
You always wanted to be like your daddy, inventive

You've become a man, "Mama I love you" you still tell me
You've become the carbon copy of your dad to a tee

We are so proud you took the road of responsibility
You can pursue a world of endless possibility

You are still my little artist and Shakespeare full of joy
Don't ever forget you will always be my little boy

Don't Let Anyone Walk Over You

Don't let anyone walk over you — neither yourself nor the world,
no matter how low you may ever fall,
don't let the kid you once were
be ashamed of you if he stood before you!

Life is not the dream you dreamed as a child,
it will trample you and spit right in your face,
if it pushes you in the wrong direction,
there is no right one — all are missed stations!

It's your life and you must show it your teeth,
don't just drive through it in neutral,
take responsibility, earn respect,
no one has ever, nor will ever, bow to an amateur!

If you fall to your knees, do not let your spirit break,
raise your head and look toward the stars,
become the master of your life, whatever it may be,
don't just stand aside while life is passing by!

The Protraction of the Epiphany

The Protraction of the Epiphany

Complacency in a stilted light of regret
Vagrancy in a jilted sight of neglect
Emergency in a wilted light of insects
The urgency of a curative substance to inject

Wellsprings of artificial truth and humour
Hells things accumulate with the modern day consumer
A year in the jungle with the rare black Asian Pumas
A fear and a rumble of a growing brain tumour

Excerpts of illumination beaming out through a crowd
Concerts of contamination leaning forward and loud
An old hearse of consecration screaming lines of the Proud
A written verse of invitation about what is sworn and vowed

Desert storms inland from the sea
Crescent forms of moonlight that shine down upon me
Elegant storms of starlight that are too bright to even see
Decadent norms shed for what’s right as you embolden the free

Elevated insights into the passages of time
Nominated fights about the ravages of crime
Consecrated rights about the rhythm of a rhyme
Ill-created sights as we look to the night for a sign

Refine the moment before you descend from your throne
Define who owns it as humanity leaves you alone
Confine who clones it before it hijacks all of your homes
Incline to hone it before the Queen turns to stone

Perpetuate the intimate and sign up for the next sequel
Commiserate the consulate before human rights become the prequel
Eviscerate then integrate as you shout about it from the steeple
Amalgamate then consecrate the water for the people

Divide the notion of partial responsibility
Inside the ocean of martial comparability
Apply the lotion of spatial inter generational exclusivity
Collide the sojourns of musical improvisational proclivity

Allow your sorrow to rise up and purge from your system
Now you follow the size of your urge to demystify him
How tomorrow through the eyes of your words make you thin
Bow to the borrowed lies of the absurd man with a grin

What comprises the ultimate act of integrity?
Hot suprises to formulate the exacts of berevity
Not decided to promulgate the contraction of longevity
Of the insiders I consummate the protraction of the epiphany

I oft hear it said “somebody should do something”,
while considering it the responsibility of big brother.
So we assume the passive position of doing nothing,
many won’t get involved, but self appoint another.

While we can’t be all things to the needy in mass,
yet in significant ways we could extend a hand.
Instead, we procrastinate, trusting the need to pass,
and results seldom are, as our mind's had planned.

His Tired Smile

His tired smile felt genuinely warm
It's the daily norm since he was born
Life is an endless loop of closed doors
Searching for hope among endless pores

Born into seaside harbor
Felt the wave of endless labor
Shouldering pain and liability
Sailing for honest security
Touching the mild ocean breeze
Smiled tiredly along freezing sneeze

Homecoming after relentless work
Grabs and sighs at dinner fork
Looking upon paled door
Grabbles within open pores

Shut the lights hoping for relief
Dreaming upon hopeless beliefs
A continuous cycle day and night
A tired smile without light
