Sitting on the block of the day
Looking into amethyst abyss
No longer seen as hunter or prey
Disenfranchised like blue cold kiss
Watching the animals fight their wars
Knowing some win some lose
Feeling the wrath of attention whores
Singing their hill street blues
On the block of irrelevant images
Whatever the dress of the time
Homeless roaming toward suttle scrimmages
For resources of food courses limited line
Lemon love served in a soul bowl
From churches so big from no taxes
The church like homeless grow
Seem to me there’s no homeless factoring
We can pay for sports arenas sure
And ship athletes around the world
Leaving disenfranchised potential pure
Of the unhoused blue boys green girls
Sitting on my writer’s block
Not pretending to know wisdoms hacks
Really disenchanted with it all
Maybe my pen can bring me back to black
It’s hard to walk straight
when the ground feels tilted,
like every step forward
quietly slides me back.
I tell myself I’ve got it,
then the weight comes again
thick, quiet, pulling at my ankles
like the dark knows my name.
There’s this hole I keep falling into.
Not loud.
Not dramatic.
Just deep enough
to make the sky look far away.
And some days I think,
maybe I should stay here.
It’s familiar.
It doesn’t expect anything from me.
No pressure to shine,
no pretending I’m okay.
Just stillness.
Just sinking.
But something in me
won’t let the dirt close in.
Maybe it’s the things they said
the doubts,
the looks,
the quiet counting me out.
Maybe it’s the part of me
that’s tired
So I claw at the edges.
Slow. Messy.
Not graceful at all.
Because giving up would be easier…
but proving them wrong
means I have to keep going.
And even if I slip,
even if my hands shake,
even if I’m climbing
inch by inch
I always seem to fantasize about the same thing.
Every night when my head hits the pillow.
I'm older, more confident. Taller even.
I bump into you in town, just mooching around. Probably window shopping cause I can never make rent on time.
We bump shoulders. I turn and apologize politely and you recognize me. You'll have to remind me your name because you remember I'm bad with faces but I need no reminder.
Those eyes, the direct mirror to my own soul.
You'll say, "oh my God, how have you been?" And I'll smile and say, "I've been doing good. It's good to see you" and we exchange new numbers.
A week goes by and you reach out wanting to catch up over coffee.
I'll go.
Pretending I'm not searching your hands for a ring.
You catch me doing so but you don't mention it.
We hug goodbye.
I'd like to sit and think that it would progress.
Two kids in a farm house. The whole picket white fence. The real American dream. But even my dreams are realistic these days.
They know it'll fizzle out, the same way it did before.
Let heaven judge, man I doubt can,
Pretending egos oft go wrong,
What’s justice judged by human pen?
If truth should die ere rise again,
Who'd ever sing its righteous song?
Let heaven judge, man I doubt can.
A child's born and grows to be man,
Truth grows no girth, lives ever young,
What’s justice judged by human pen?
And youth grows to be flightless hen,
Led by logic goes on along,
Let heaven judge, man I doubt can.
Let heart and head judge as one then,
Let no one hit the final gong,
What’s justice judged by heartless pen?
If seamless do days and nights run,
The divide can’t be firm and strong,
Let heaven judge, man I doubt can,
What’s justice judged by human ken?

A child, an instinctive natural judge, never sits in judgment of right and wrong. So is an old man in his second childhood. But a youth tends to be rational being ruled by head rather than heart. And yet, who can say what's right and what's wrong; when a day begins, when ends; when precisely light takes over from darkness? Between white and black there lies grey, as does between right and wrong, between truth and falsehood, and so are all contrasting opposites in life. There is one infinite continuum; only peoples' perspectives differ. Who are we humans to sit in judgment? This Villanelle too is not sure. Maybe, justice is best done when we refrain from judging!

There's been so much carelessness
In our long relationship
That we have both lost our way
It's a struggle everyday
To fix what we let go wrong
Our emotions just ping pong
Back and forth with no results
Losing track about whose fault
It was that started a war
Now each hour more and more
Tempers flare up with such fire
Calling each other a liar
It's getting extremely wary
To keep up with this charade
Pretending everything's O.K.
To neighbors and all our friends
But we know that in the end
We are going to explode
Emotions on overload
Showing everyone our love is fake
It's much more than we can take
Ya no lo niego I love you
With all my soul, en me corazon
Love songs sang your tone
But, it’s been some time
I erased you from my phone
Wiped the computer clean of you
Yet, en las noches mis suenos son de ti
I hear memories of sweet melodies
I won’t deny my soul tie
in acceptance I’m released
From pretending there was no pain
Maybe its better this way
Why should you stay
Been years now what you’ve been up too
I smile solo en el Mundo
Te tenia que eliminar
El dolar muy profundo
Esa botella no lo puedo tomar
I can’t tear you from my veins
All those wasted years
Imagine that you were for life
So I took all memories
Cut you loose
I wish you well from the noose
I won’t deny my soul tie
in acceptance I’m released
From pretending there was no pain
Maybe its better this way
Why should you stay
Fighting my war my sin
Dreams and thoughts none comprehend
If you find me again
I’ll be kicking rocks
Living life’s hard knocks
Your departure made me strong
And your presence a fading song
Si encuentro alguna chica solo dios sabe
Si no encuentro alguna chica solo dios
No estoy solo
I’m not alone
And I will never drink from the bottle of another man’s beer
Much better to walk away without tears
In opulence, you dwelled, with wealth's endearing might
Gifts rained upon me, a gesture of your fleeting light
Thoughtful, you seemed, in moments of tender reprieve
Yet, when our bond broke, your words became a venomous deceive
You branded me an opportunist, with lips that scorned
Now I discern the truth, that love was never born
For love can't be bought, nor sold like merchandise in store
The heart that barters love, is one that's lost forevermore
Perhaps you felt pity's sting, or remorse's hollow refrain
But your words, they cut deep, like a dagger's fatal strain
You vilify me now, with labels of scorn and disdain
A rotten scum, an enemy, with no love to reclaim
What did I do, dear heart, to deserve this fate?
I loved you with abandon, with every fiber and every state
But you, with your learned pride, looked down upon my name
Education's pedestal, became the throne of your shame
I chose to liberate myself, from the chains that bound
I wouldn't spend my life, in a prison of the heart, unsound
Gifts didn't captivate me, it was your soul I adored
Your essence, your heart, your love, I yearned for, and nothing more
In fervent prayer, I pleaded, on bended knees, for you to see
The love that we once shared, in all its purity
But now I know, that wasn't love, that drove you to my side
It was a masquerade, a charade, where love was never the guide.
Stars could see forever
Thinking never
An avalanche would pull the lever
Feeling a mile high
This movie was going to be a nice try
Not caring about anyone’s lie
Then there was the heated sun
Melted snow weighing a ton
Fear should have won
But stars thought the drama was fun
Soon another one
Saying one more and you are done
But the stars had many goals
While the avalanche revenge was to bury the souls
When it went to overtime
A fifth netted a successful find
Stars came up with the goods
To continue the vacation in the mountainous woods
A few feet below
Would you know?
Our faithful dirty blonde knight
Checking out everything was all right
When he came across the film crew
Wondering how much they had to do
All of them acting cool
Setting up for when the stars come
Down the peak where they were from
Pretending being people in a script
Characters on a holiday trip
Romance blooming
Conflict needed to make action fuming
But the avalanche started its threat
Those from Vancouver decided this was not a practical bet
Instead it was the hour to get
Ending the working stay
Let the stars get their way
As the dirty blonde knight watched the packing
Waiting for nature to do some attacking
He was sorry to see them go
And decided to wait for the stars and enjoy the next show
Ignorance and silence,
Preaches and deceits,
Libels and slanders.
Yeah, it gets on my nerves!
Friends are such a turncoats,
They betray, they deceive,
Pretending to be sweet.
Causing emotional wrecks.
The traitors are such a scrape!
Hey! Ask me, why I am sharing this!
Just coz, wanna save you from such a crisis!
Sit in your car and go for a long drive.
Trust me its a therapy of its own kind!
Cool breeze tickling vibrant flowers,
Chirping birds playing in Cumulus clouds,
Strolling couples and brats chilling out,
Laughter and smile spread all around.
A sudden brake, brings you back to your present life.
Tell me, tell me, ‘‘what did you notice thru the drive.’’?
Happiness, energy and pure positive vibes!
Awww! You couldn't notice the negativity,
though it too must be peeping inside!
Here's my friend an important lesson to bring back pride.
“Life too is a long drive,
we can’t get into everything that comes into our sight.”
“step out of your boots, and be a fly on the wall,
You will understand inside out in just a glance.”
“Keep driving through the maze of life,
Observe positivity and strength standing by your side.”
“Not every body strives to thrive, they don’t deserve your time.”
Yes, it hurts every time but every incidence is a lesson of your life,
to make you stronger and wise!
“Keep driving through, soaking in the lessons of your life."
"For you my darling, will always rise.”
Lurid looks have been thrown at me
Deadly daggers sent to pierce my heart
Why do some insist on acting beastly
waging war in attempts to tear me apart?
How long can I go on pretending I'm not in pain
hiding my tears by calling them emotional rain?
I need compassion but I'm afraid to ask
so, I conceal my trauma behind a face mask
There's an art that some have honed,
weapons sharpened to break my bones
Not the kind of childish chiding of 'sticks and stones,'
but those spoken with bitterness and taunting
The kind that fires torpedoes from torrid tongues
flaunting their ire and desire to wound me in a fight
with words that shatter like shrapnel in flight
A flame throwing pen, firing splotches of ink
to pierce my skin, tattooing me with their brand
Mark me as 'prey,' shooting as if in reprimand
Just enough to keep me flinching... not quite dead
They laugh it off, calling it 'friendly fire'
No excuse accepted from those who conspire
No burning steel rod can cauterize my wounds
I cannot anesthetize the festering gashes
A sharp-bladed tongue bites much too deep,
making my blood flow in repeated clashes
No mere prick or scratch do they inflict
as thorns draw drops from a finger opened bare...
foul words end relationships with a bullet's nick
I still breathe and I've no fear to speak
I've been set free, and no longer weak
My tongue holds daggers of its own
and it's been whetted on a grindstone
I hungered for strength and parched with thirst
to take vengeance as my anger grew
Emotions boiled that were long past due
but felling them would label me a wrong doer
which is something I never want to be
Vengeance will never be mine to take
realizing that is what set me free
Emotionally, I was a casualty, a tragic story
about pens and mouths becoming an allegory
Symbols used as extended metaphors
But why is it I was being targeted in wars
by Gollums and Freddies, and evil Chuckies?
Shrapnel lodged in the heart leaves jagged scars
