HEARING
Don’t come near me with that tune
You know it will make me cry again
With its sixths, elevenths, thirteenths
All conspiring to take over my brain
Expanding in my head like a balloon
Melody goes wherever it wants to go
That long held note, it does it for me
Leaving those complex chords behind
Holding on with pride to that top C
Together with that touch of tremolo
I also hear the bass line slowly move
An anchor for the notes all in flight
Like a susurration in the open skies
Where every single one does it right
As each has a point they must prove
My heart is lifted as the music swells
And images pervade my open mind
It is a sensation that I cannot control
As if special roles have been assigned
Across new worlds without parallels
Summertime brings forth a wondrous season
Where charms of nature suddenly arise
A tapestry of beauty is reason
For wonder and laughter beneath blue skies
The trees display with joyful sway their glee
As canopies of leaves rustle a song
Their branches dance the summer jubilee
As echoes of laughter sing all day long
The hues displayed in grand flowers arrayed
Burst forth in brilliance, a kaleidoscope
Fragrant whispers pervade the air conveyed
Senses enchanted with promise and hope
Babbling we now hear, streams and rivers near
Their melodies a symphony so sweet
A lullaby so dear, removes all fear
As sparkling waters kiss the sun’s retreat
Summertime sets the sight of pure delight
With wonder, peace and beauty shining bright
As light gently slices the veil of night,
a sliver of morning appears through my window
With one eye open, I check the time
The fuzzy warmth of my sweet, soft blanket
compels me to think that all is right with the world,
that all is right with my world
and I could stay like this for hours, never moving
Funny how a blanket could offer such protection
As though the problems of the day just can’t get in
Everything can wait, these moments of peace sustained
Inevitably, the world wins and I awaken
Thoughts pervade, invade and beckon
Perhaps today, I can do something to help
I wish for all, a blanket of protection
At a moment in my life long, long ago —
I had a dream of an ethereal existence,
Transcending the very mortal bounds of existence.
What a sublime notion worthy of thought;
To be an “Entity” beyond our mortal existence.
My thoughts are there, each and every day;
Moving outside of “Everydayness.”
What a moment to behold while looking
In the vortex of life: past, present, future.
Who will be my Sage? my Guide?
Questions pervade my Soul, my Being.
When I awaken will I remember or
Continue living as a one-dimensional person?
My dream world should be my reality.
My real world should be not—or is this so?

Gasoline tears
The truck
Plows forward
Into the masses
Blood and destruction
Morality hijacked by abduction
Evil deeds pervade these cloudy days
Compassion is tossed into the sea in place of the devils seduction
Humanity dances with both tears and foe, the meek shall be the victors
Satan’s followers shall face the garrote, headless will be those boa constrictors
Do not be fooled by silent ones and men behind masks disguising their petty angers
Humanity dances with both tears and foe, the meek shall be the victors
Rays of the sun, the glow of the moon, and the beat of loves heart
Flower gardens shall grow tall, on the soil of the rotten evil ones
Goodwill shall peak behind the clouds, hugging humanity
Compassion shall dance on angelic wings
Love and passion triumphant
Plows forward towards
Eternity
with your permission my lady
i will take my leave
has your heart spoken it all
do not tarry here
do not let quiet pervade
it will destroy the silence of love
where galaxies meld
a thorn in the side
hidden burr in the saddle
if you do not let your heart sing
love is where dreams are shared
where the labor in the vineyard
is hand in hand
where the souls merge
into a quest for one
let your heart sing
give me your dreams
let me be a part of you
love harbors no fear
wine's grapes are crushed
in a gentleness, together
one must not hurt the seeds
it sours the wine
with your permission my lady
i will take my leave
let me depart knowing you
in all of its wonder
may the dreams that fill our vineyard
live in the calluses of our shared labors

"My friend, it was but a song of love out of a poet's heart, sung by every man to every woman" Khalil Gibran

I don't have bling
I don't rap, play blues or sing
I'll never be a cool black guy
My strut is weak
My cred roams far yonder
Miles away from the street
I'll never be a cool black guy
The booty I shake
The moves that I make
Won't qualify for Soul Train's sake
I'll never be a cool black guy
The name my mother assigned
Won't force Grandmaster Flash to resign
I'll never be a cool black guy
The vocal lords which gospel brings
Cannot pervade thy angel's wings
I'll never be a cool black guy
Cruising slow at sunset
Love, joy, exaltation
Politely asked to pull over
Algorithms bleed into
Indignant subjugation
I'll never be a cool black guy
When a simple arrest
Leads to civil unrest
Then comes the ripple, tsunami
Of economic infest
I'll never be a cool black guy
My options broken, then severed
Left to dangle without a net
The asphalt calls
No qualms or regret
I'll never be a cool black guy
And one leads to two
And two leads to ten
History's palindrome nightmare
To invoke and offend
Why can't our same bag of bones
Simply care, soar, befriend
I'll never be a cool black guy
That diploma on the wall
Smelting books, with brains and gall
Will humanity's insanities
Finally yield beauty
Leading us to stand for all
I'll never be a cool black guy.

“Man became a living soul”
when the LORD God Almighty
“breathed into his nostrils the breath of life…”
according to the Scriptures’ Genesis 2:7.
Such truth makes my soul divine
always delighted for heavenly communion
ready to have fellowship with the Creator
as well as to worship in the beauty of His holiness
where sublime peace and triumphant bliss pervade.
Midst vibrant relationship with the Lord
I strive to surmount challenges
since He constantly restores my soul
directing my faith toward paths of righteousness
and stewardship journey for soulwinning pursuits
that build lives by the grace so provident.
Grateful to the Saviour for my redemption
I live for Him, optimizing moments of joyous serving
while readying to join my life Source
Who makes my being profitable
along this assertion: “…Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell.”*

They whisper their sonnets and surrender their thrones gracefully
Consuming tunes sweetly echoing and crowning a heart with love
Your gentle words, your tender touch, so much divine beauty as
Our two stars sparkle as one soul with one golden smile of eternity
When the sun rises in the east and the sun sets in the west we know
While looking upon a dream holding the deepest vision awestruck
The new sun across the sky passes so the soul can reach its destiny
And you vanquished all doubts of me burning as one flame on fire
Knowing the winds in Heaven mix forever in a powerful divine glory
With one angel standing before our eyes as destiny sparks its promise
That in God’s way it must be the message of love we feel so strongly
Embracing forever the alchemy of two stars blazing hot with emotion
Dreams and fantasies merge with this wonderful bliss ever so gently
As faraway rising is your sunshine holding hands warmly as a regal gift
And a truth filled with blessing, deeply peaceful and complete as we pray
Under a bridge of hope with colors kissing the heart and soul of a dream
Love and devotion pervade our eternal desire of oneness with the Lord God
As His heavenly guard ushers our souls together with purpose before Him
And as a choir of angels sing their majestic paeans honoring this moment
We see now our dreams melding as one as our two stars sparkle as one soul

Quiet Stillness
There two words pervade my life
consuming the very act of living.
I love these two words
if it's possible to love words.
The quiet of my heart
beating softly, rhythmicly, unnoticed
but sustaining me;
The stillness of my soul,
meditating, contemplating creation
and the wonders of the Creator.
The quiet stillness
overwhelms and enthralls me
bringing me visions of hope and love.
The sanctuary of prayer is within,
overcoming all obstacles,
embracing all potential,
maintaing and spurring me onward
to who I am
and giving me promise and hope
to who I can yet be
in my sacred place,
my quiet stillness.
