Author's Notes: "It's Your Time," is a Lyric poem that I just completed on March 4, 2017. This particular poem touches on certain metaphysical and spiritual aspects of death and transformation beyond the mortal world. This poem is actually the third, in what I now call a trilogy of metaphysical lyrical poems I've written by which I explore the interactive symbolism of death and transformation, and spiritual renewal in relation to our human mortality. The other two poems I wrote earlier that are somewhat of a similar metaphysical nature are: "The End" (13 Jun 16) and "The Unknown" (15 Apr 16). My back-story inspiration for these two poems, and now also with this latest one, "It's Your Time," comes from Sylvia Path's classical melancholy lyric poem, "Edge," which she completed on February 5, 1963 -- just one week before her untimely death by suicide. Path's classic, of course, had a very dark side to it, although it does poignantly address death, spiritual rebirth, and immortality. I consider my latest write here, "It's Your Time," as well as my earlier writes "The End" and "The Unknown" to be on the more positive side of this particular thematic discussion. The unnamed character in "It's Your Time" who undergoes death, transformation, and eventual spiritual renewal finally stands before the angel who guided him through these extraordinary processes, whereby, now in his transformed spiritual state, he's attained, what I call a form of "Elysian Perfection." This newly coined "spiritual entity," if you will, now dwells in the divine presence and eternal light of God Himself. I hope this gives you, the reader, a more thorough understanding of what I was trying to achieve with this particular transformative lyric theme. It’s Your Time A mysterious voice in my deep sleep said . . . “It’s your time.” This was repeated several times, Yet as more of a faint whisper. What an unusual way to be greeted—I thought. I just hoped to have a night of sound sleep. What appears now deep within my psyche Are catacumbal visions, illusions, and truths. Is someone telling me something? Are these images part of my life-run? I realize now much more: They are a mystic kaleidoscope of human experiences. The mysterious voice returns again declaring . . . “It’s your time now!” A thick mist appears, blinding me. A solar eclipse occurs, captivating me. The brightest light of all appears out of nowhere. My senses run wild, no mortal proportion exists. This infinity of the deep-black-dark cosmos Gives way now to His divine, majestic light. The solar-eclipsed moon is long gone . . . An ethereal fragrance and happiness pervade. A lovely and radiant angel appears before me, Ah . . . she’s the source of this mysterious voice! Elysian perfection complete. A beautiful, mystical Unicorn smiles at me. There’s no more anger, fear, sadness, and suffering . . . Only the divine love, hope, and peace of Almighty God. Thanks Darlene!! Yes, I do believe you may be right about this. "It's Your Time," is the last one of these I wrote as part of a trilogy dealing with a theme of this nature. The other two, if you are interest are: The End and The Unknown, completed before this one was. Cheers and Best, Gary

Hello Freddie My Dear Friend . . . I'm very pleased that you gave this Lyric of mine and read and review. It's part of that original spiritual and metaphysical group of poems I posted in the past, in particular, "The End" and "The Unknown" that I refer to in my Author's Notes. (That "otherworldly aspect" of individual psyches are very much integral to the human aspect of our finite presence here on Mother Earth.) Love and Peace too Freddie -- and Best Wishes Always, Gary

Hello Deb, Apparently the other reply I made to your note here did not record for some reason. Anyway, I do really appreciate your comment. Death is certainly our transformation catalyst to the Great Beyond!! Best Wishes!! Gary

Thanks Arthur!! I actually hope too that "my time" is indeed far off in the distant future. I do, for sure, have many more topics and themes to write about while I'm part of our "mortal coil." Enjoyed your poem earlier today too!! Really poignant and full of irony!! Cheers and Best, Gary

Hello "D"!! Thanks for dropping by and for your always gracious comments -- and for the FAV!! The theme covered in this poem is one over time that I've had a continuous interest in. I have many more themes, of course, to write about in the future. Once I get my manuscript done for my second book this year, I'll then be able to concentrate my efforts more on poetry. At least I'm not bored, whether it be prose or poetry writing. Continued best wishes to you from Ingrid and me!! I'll be by to take a look at your latest work. Spill Ink!! Gary
