Author's Notes: "It's Your Time," is a Lyric poem that I just completed on March 4, 2017. This particular poem touches on certain metaphysical and spiritual aspects of death and transformation beyond the mortal world. This poem is actually the third, in what I now call a trilogy of metaphysical lyrical poems I've written by which I explore the interactive symbolism of death and transformation, and spiritual renewal in relation to our human mortality. The other two poems I wrote earlier that are somewhat of a similar metaphysical nature are: "The End" (13 Jun 16) and "The Unknown" (15 Apr 16). My back-story inspiration for these two poems, and now also with this latest one, "It's Your Time," comes from Sylvia Path's classical melancholy lyric poem, "Edge," which she completed on February 5, 1963 -- just one week before her untimely death by suicide. Path's classic, of course, had a very dark side to it, although it does poignantly address death, spiritual rebirth, and immortality. I consider my latest write here, "It's Your Time," as well as my earlier writes "The End" and "The Unknown" to be on the more positive side of this particular thematic discussion. The unnamed character in "It's Your Time" who undergoes death, transformation, and eventual spiritual renewal finally stands before the angel who guided him through these extraordinary processes, whereby, now in his transformed spiritual state, he's attained, what I call a form of "Elysian Perfection." This newly coined "spiritual entity," if you will, now dwells in the divine presence and eternal light of God Himself. I hope this gives you, the reader, a more thorough understanding of what I was trying to achieve with this particular transformative lyric theme. Gary Bateman - March 5, 2017
