Premium Member Blest Optimism Vis-A-Vis the 27 Club

My cogitations after learning about THE 27 CLUB*:

Confronted with secrets of existence
My soul strives to remain optimistic
As I resolve what seems enigmatic
Trusting God, anchored on faith’s persistence.

Here am I, seeking the Lord’s instruction
Cognizant that His way** is always best
Through the Holy Ghost’s blessed guiding zest
Expressed by the Scriptures’ revelation.

Midst survival-battle of puzzling bouts
My spirit finds sure victory in Christ
Vanquishing unbelief, wisdom-sufficed
While secured by His truth against doubts

Thankful for divine vision, glowing bright
My heart rests and basks in the Saviour’s love
Surmounting dilemmas with peace above
Sharing gift*** of life along heaven’s light.

*The 27 Club includes popular musicians, artists, actors, and other celebrities who died at age 27,[7] often as a result of drug and alcohol abuse or violent means such as homicide, suicide, or transportation-related accidents.

**John 14:6 of the King James Bible (Words in bold complete the assertion of Jesus Christ).
***Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God, the Source

God, the source of our existence,
The force behind being aware,
Can't live without His assistance
Can't breathe without His love and care,

He gives us strength, troubles to bear,
He's our much needed subsistence,
Can't survive without grace and pray'r,
God, the source of our existence,

Feelings rise on His insistence,
He gives us courage in despair,
He's the cause of our consistence,
The force behind being aware,

With Him, every thing we can share,
God doesn't love us from a distance,
He's always with us, ever there,
Can't live without His assistance,

Who can escape His persistence?
On the cross, His love does declare,
Need to give up all resistance,
Can't breathe without His love and care,

He has birthed us, we are His heir,
Faith in Him helps coexistence,
Our very breath is His affair,
No denial, non-resistance,
God, the source.

If I could rewrite the sentences of my past. The
Adversities, Challenges, Exhaustion. My Past is not Me

I often questioned myself, Why these mental games?
Emotional, Confusion, Manipulation from familiar.
People aI thought to be trusted bMy Past is not Me

She wasn't fed from a golden spoon yet Persistence,
Resilience are now her friends

Strategic wars hovered over her mind let's dive in.
Self awareness, Denial? Comparisons little did she know deep within it was someone known with games of
Power for control.

She gave the keys to her heart only for her past to
used against her to make to feel like a puppet on
strings. My Past is not Me

Is she's in the driver's seat? She no longer retaliates
She's detached from calculated manipulation.

Bread crumbs she doesn't chase, She no longer falls
for the bait. Will familiar faces ever let her get to the
Finish line?

Constantly spinning webs on her next move only to be reminded of her past for sport. My Psst is not Me

AS THE FATHER
The Saviour urges us to imitate Him,
to proclaim and preach the ways of
God,to live by everything that proceeds
from His mouth. To lay hands and heal,
seeking first the kingdom, and to the glory
& praise of God.Praying with persistence
giving thanks for His daily provision,
describing what the Father has done for us.
In the power of the Holy Spirit, explain all
things from scripture to open minds, calling
all to follow.Know by experience the mysteries
of heaven,a light to everyman, opening the eyes
of those dwelling in darkness.Doing God’s will
to the praise of the Father, mighty in deed & word
& with agape love His own to our uttermost.

Resilient Joy :Get Your Bounce Back

for 10 seconds Serena Williams danced
the Crypt walk at the Super Bowl
and because of those ten seconds
the world completely lost control
In 2012 she also danced after
her London tennis championship win
yet the world's perception of that
produced a negative spin
how dare this Black woman
dominate their sport?
how dare this Black woman
dance on their tennis court?

resilience in our joy is what
Black women are all about
we may fall down but we bounce back
with nary a doubt
for our resilience grows out of
our challenges, disappointments and pain
our ability to bounce back
is how we have sustained
somehow, some way we will always
show up and show out
for in our resilience and in our resistance
any situation we will surmount

after fleeing from the Egyptian pharaoh
Miriam and her sisters danced for joy
their resilience and resistance in their oppression
kept their spirits from being destroyed
as women have been resilient
since the beginning of time
because our strength of character and adaptability
gives us the fortitude to perpetually climb
out of life's pits of despair and abysses of hell
women keep on bouncing back
as the joy in us continuously swells

we got biblical joy that allows us to rejoice
and be a joy to God
which gives us our resilience
and the strength of heart
for it is in the presence of God where we find
healing and comfort for our souls
where we get a fullness of spirit
that makes us joyful and whole

we get resilience in our dancing
which is the embodiment of true joy
because dancing releases endorphins
our pleasure hormones get deployed
we get resilience in community
because as women we move in unity
we find our joy in our sisterhood as our strength
in each other manifests communally

transformative resilience allows us
to bounce forward and not bounce backward in life
as we move in resistance with persistence
wielding our Spirit of the Sword in the name of Christ
no longer will we be reluctant to show the world
our Blackity-Black
for we are women with a resilient joy
and we got our godly bounce back

Premium Member Life in the Penalty Box

The course of life is like a game,
that many play for wealth and fame.
The rate of play can be so fast,
that many players do not last.

Millions fall in the game of life,
through causes that are all too rife.
Many have keeled over and died,
while others have been laid aside.

Some are sidelined because they are ill,
and cannot exercise their skill.
Others because they lose a job,
And frequently are made to sob.

When forced to stand and watch from the side,
as others run the race in stride.
Many a man has wept and cried,
as fate lays low his pompous pride.

But there are benefits to gain,
when our best efforts end in vain.
Patience is learned while standing still,
not while working to make a kill.

Perspective comes from pondering on,
events of life that have come and gone.
Persistence is learned when we are spurned,
When life is churned, character is formed.

Fleshly lusts and the pride of life,
corrupts the soul and causes strife.
Life’s purpose is learned while standing still,
Living for God, makes the soul thrill.

So, if you’re sitting in the box,
and feeling like a wounded fox.
You cannot charge and lead the hunt
which makes you mad and prone to grunt.

It’s time to take an inward look.
Have you been living by the Book?
Be sure to learn life’s lessons well,
if you in peace desire to dwell.

Then when again, you join the game,
the lesson learned your life will frame.
You will be sober, stronger, wise,
to play life’s game and earn God’s prize.

Easter

The Easter night sky
is set afire with the sun.

A brilliant glowing ball of light creamsickle orange
	burning and pulsating
as it sets forth hues of color,
yellow gold with shades of amber,
while above a threatening dark
	paints grainy purples and blues,
casting a wind north to east
and high above into the atmosphere.

Chilled Easter Sunday arrives
with dull, calm, early cold start to day
then warm, bright and sunny midday, noon
	that overshadows tempest
        twilight evening tide.

It is the aftermath of promises
      made and given long ago
that demand persistence, love and dedication
       of all followers and believers
in life everlasting
	hopes and dreams of resurrection
	by those imbibed with faith
	in every celebrated reverence of
Easter Sunday.

Mr R's Juliet

I used to think a part of me dies when I contemplate a life without you to share it with,
I used to feel like I was gazing into eyes meant for someone else,
Turning each page was a struggle, knowing you wouldn't be in the next chapter, but the story had to move forward,
They reminded me that I was the book you never cared to read, yet you were the verse I kept highlighting,
Every night passed with the knowledge that I was just a distant star in your sky, while you were my entire universe,
Loving you from afar made me realize that we can only admire and enjoy the sight of a star but never hold it. Yet, it didn't extinguish my love or hope,
All I yearned for was a chance, but every stolen glance made me realize that among trillions of hearts, I fell for the one that didn't beat for me. But even so, it couldn't stop my love,
Each day passed with a pen full of ink and a diary full of empty pages, waiting for you to write about. At least I had hope,
It's surreal how you often appeared in my dreams without a clear face, as if you're the enigmatic Mr. R,
I pledged to care for you until the day you said you found someone better than me,
I refused to let go of your fingertips, just as I refused to have memories of half-remembered dreams,
You can't be the sun, and I can't be the moon; we only shine but never get to be together,
For once, the eclipse has last forever,
Our love, which was once unspoken, now fills the pages of our shared story, a tale of persistence, patience, and the beauty of love that knows no boundaries.
You're the mistake I vowed to repeat repeatedly,
Now, I am your Juliet, Mr. R, and together our love shines eternally.

Premium Member Fools Buy the Glitter

Faith’s coronet trumpets my quest every day
searching the skies and the soul for a way
through ubiquitous mire, muck and mud
dodging arrows, bullets drones and Scuds

Persistence is its own reward, they say
though I can’t cook it, drive it, or put it to bed
 Money is better than conversation
all those words that didn’t need to be said

Fools buy the glitter, wise men the gold
the world doesn’t stop ‘cos I’ve gotten old
More and more news and useless inventions
from folks with mostly good intentions…

Another generation now come and gone
failing once more to right all the wrongs
of a world that barely blinked at their presence
whose winds wailed, then whispered ‘evanescence’
