She pirouettes at the hall of fame,
Magnifying swan-silhouettes in delight
As silky red wings are in glaring flame,
She pirouettes in the hall of fame
Red Swan of Night is Paulette’s name.
While audience applause from left to right,
She pirouettes at the hall of fame
Magnifying swan-silhouettes in delight.

CLIMATE CHANGE
by Lgg

Our mother earth is now derailing from its plain path,
Path that leads to a continuous sustenance of our lives;
If no indomitable spirits to hinder, no one survives,
Our planet will soon collapse by the catastrophe’s wrath.

Catastrophes are caused by detrimental effect of climate change,
Known as global warming, a crisis of our time – so intense!
It’s an earth’s long term massive change of temperature,
Caused mainly by human activity, polluting it to the core.

Mother earth’s atmosphere is largely paralyzing,
Due to greenhouse gases that dominate…suffocating!
They trap the sun’s energy on the surface of the earth,
Making home planet much hotter, so I’ll take off my shirt.

Let’s name some human activities emitting greenhouses,
They’re burning fuels forming heavy smog- it mazes!
Our waste products, factories and cars causing air pollution,
All contributed by the tripling increase of world’s population.

Climate change effects are vast droughts, diseases and floods,
Typhoons that will destroy people, animals and crops-so sad!
Climate change will melt tons of ice glazers in the oceans,
Increases water levels jeopardizing small and big islands.

If we, humans are the problems, why can’t we make solutions?
Let’s all start planting trees, reuse, recycle and reduce pollution;
Avoid land transformations when building infrastructures,
Make our surroundings clean, let’s save Mother Nature!

When I saw her, I could not believe it was my old classmate Paulette.
I had not seen her since college when she was delightful and filled with joy.
She began to tell me of her parents' tragic fatal accident that occurred last year. She and her husband had two children, one of which died of leukemia 6 months ago. Paulette and her husband were going through a divorce when her parents were killed. Her teenage son took up with a gang and drugs when they divorced, and his life is a mess.

Paulette was an only child which means, with so much misfortune, there is absolutely no one. My wife and I were speechless as she shared her life with us, and we were ears and shoulders. She's still relatively young and in time there could be changes, but right now, my old friend is sad. We pray God will bring seasons of joy, helping Paulette forget the past and embrace the future.

I am a little tabby pussy cat, my master dearly calls me 'Paulette'
I chase the ugly rat that comes to gnaw at my master's hat
On my face I have pointed whiskers, but nothing as those of the tuskers
With ears sharp I catch all whispers, have claws as piercing as pincers
I am my master’s pet, he often pats me calling me 'cute little Paulette'
But my master’s jealous dog, 'Tiger' is my enemy , that I always forget

Once, in pitch darkness, as I was roaming freely, saw a pair of gleaming eyes
Never knew, 'Tiger' would jump upon me in ambush and attack me fierce
Badly hurt, when I meowed aloud, my master came flying like a bullet
In anguish he cried, “What harm has been done to you, my poor Paulette?”

Paulette was a happy little girl,
who loved all her dolls and teddy bears'
she liked to leap, dance and twirl !
Paulette was a happy ! _ little girl,
with hair that refused to curl _
adored her pets and had no cares.
"Paulette" was a happy ... little girl,
who loved all her dolls ! And teddy bears !

The Fairy

Quote by: Paulette Calasibetta
Beautiful! You are like the fairy who brings happiness, joy and love to all you meet.

She had no fairy dust tucked away beneath great big wings
what she had was a wish or two ready for anyone who knew
that the sky was grand and the love of God was big ;
She didn't own a magic wand to brush away the pain
what she did own she shared, with bright souls that hungered
to walk the even path of life even when they swayed;
They always followed her light when she said, " this way "
though she was no fairytale fairy and owned no elfin power
she was human, touching souls and igniting the power within
if that defines a fairy then maybe a fairy she is.

ps. I wish to give thanks to Paulette for loving me.

The climate of the world is alarming; we are at odds with each other,
           divisively separated...a great divide in our society.

               Peace comes through understanding and tolerance.
                                 She carries no arms,
                           She speaks without criticism,
                           She encourages, not thwarts,
                           She is honest, not deceptive,
               She rejoices in the communion of all lives,
                        She expunges divisive differences,
          She exchanges anger for acceptance, and mutual respect.
                                Peace generates peace.
                                           ~~~
                        He takes her hand in communion
                        Together, they reach out in union,
                            Lateral roots they become,
                          Hardships with joy overcome;
                                No barrier too grand,
                     With love they heal hand in hand.
                                As time marches on
                           Their roots will bear fruits
                     And peace will replenish the land.
After a breathtaking day, watching skaters perform on ice;
                       Returning to the bus station on a cold, dark, January night,
                       Paulette, happily reflects on a day she will not forget.
                       Awaiting her parents arrival, under the empirical clock,
                       A seedy man swaggers toward her,
                       His crooked nose tilted on his face,
                       His clenched fist opens, offering candy, feigning kindness,
                       "Take it, Take it, come with me"...
                       The hands of the clock stopped, with the pounding
                       Of Paulette's 10 year old heart.
Many regrets came from my time with Paulette
and one sad day she showed me a time I would never forget
We went dancing on the ice lake
after stuffing ourselves with her birthday cake
We did a lot more than slipping and sliding
we broke the ice and then went diving
But we didn't let the freezing water slow us
we continued to twirl (and hurl) without a fuss
The hibernating fish came to life
and pecked at us like mini knives
She looked into my eyes and cried
and said she felt that she would die
With that I put her into a pirouette
where she then got tied up in a fishing net
Oh Paulette, my words for you will always be known
as I wrote the epitaph for your gravestone...
"Fire, air, earth and water couldn't be her price,
she had to choose the Ice."
Poetry Oblivion
"Lost in poetry oblivion"*
Surrounded by words and images
Mind is as dark as obsidian
Abounding with musing-filled pages
Thoughts flow freely when one is asleep
Vanishing in the fog of daylight
You’ve got to rack your mind and dig deep
If you want something worthy to write
Penning poetry is a tough grind
Requires time and ideas unique
Novel descriptive ways, one must find
To touch other poets in the clique
Yet, they are addictive soul-outlets
Where sometimes, poems take their own shape
Writing themselves with hued epithets
Surely, a heady means of escape.
