Oil of Oregano

Running a fever which mocked her
she took ibuprofen and a bath.
Wondering, should she call the doctor,
she decided on a cheaper path.

She called the diner on the third floor,
ordered pizza (she cannot resist ‘em).
Oven-baked in a shop just next door,
“Deliv’ry in thirty.” - What a system!

An earache had now come upon her,
she applied some oil of oregano.
No cash! hopefully her check they'll honor
doorbell rings, duty calls, “It’s DiGiorno!”

Noting the nuanced aroma, guy smiled,
“Is that oregano I smell in New York?
Then he begged for a piece, like a child,
but she chased him from her flat with a fork.

Andy Taylor and Barney Fife Become Criminals

One Day Barney Fife was practicing his quick draw.
He accidentally shot Thelma Lou, he broke the law.
Andy had no choice but to put Barney in jail.
But Andy let Barney out when he said he had a crop of marijuana to sell.
Barney offered Andy a fifty-fifty deal.
But Andy wanted it all, he decided to steal.
He shot poor Barney and dumped his body in Myers Lake.
Andy became furious when he learned the marijuana was fake.
The crop of marijuana turned out to be oregano.
Andy was arrested and jail was where he had to go.
Andy will be pounding rocks for the rest of his days.
The Sheriff soon learned that crime doesn't pay.

~The Knot Garden~

Weave up and down, now in an out.
Where does it start?
Where does it stop -
The dance, this lively garden gavotte?

A circle of Thyme, like ladies fair,
Joined with royal ribbons of Sage
Woven throughout with Tarragon’s leaves,
Rosemary’s boughs – handsome as lords.

A stately pattern of no mean estate
Made with Marjoram and Parsley in hue,
An intricate knot, noble in origin,
Sir Basil and Savory in delicate steps.

Oregano bows and Peppermint curtsies –
A duke and his duchess
Entwined in the waltzing
Of ancient design and arrangement.

Lines intersect with flowers of Anise,
Squares within circles – pungent with Dill -
Carefully planned, a castle garden dances,
Intertwined in delight by a King for his Queen.

Dedicated to the reproduction of a medieval knot garden at Filoli Gardens and Estate.

Celtic Sun

Celtic Sun
Celtic sun, one such wonder,
Sending her rays unto the woods,
Celtic sun spun her golden silk,
Oh, such beauty on kiln dried land.

In this mystic cool Spring air,
Soft wind blowing everywhere,
As free as a maiden-fair-hair,
Butterflies fluster and fill the sky,
The Monarchs of black, yellow bright and blue,

Cardinals chirping, flapping their wings,
Hummingbirds swooshing by,
Drinking from sweet vines and Morning Glories,
Near Plumeria trees, they fly, happily glide,
Catalyst vision of rainbow prism colors bright.

Celtic sun, shines as glorious about,
Casting shadows on fluffy white floating clouds,
Majestically high on blue yonder of mountain ranges,
Fields of magical wonder, Spring flowers and herbs.

Tulips, Daffodils, Silkwoods, Sages, Lilacs and Lavenders,
Honeysuckles hang higher on climbing fences,
Lemon scents in the garden of Rosemaries,
Thymes, Parleys, Fennels and Oregano flowers .

Dancing with plummelling Plumerias,
Butterflies & bees swarm for nectar of flowers.
Morning light shines on desert tan earth
Birds glide and chirp among tall trees

Dew drops crystal dancing with the moon,
Heat swoons and soon it's melting by sun light,
Atop the Delphinium petals blue and bright,
With sweet scents of Hyacints and Java Jasmins.

As dark sky shines on bright stars, so fair afar,
August moon fading soon over the horizon,
Golden sun rising and basking on the sky line,
Over the rim, it shines on the blue azure sea... and behind.

As the ocean waves rush to the shores,
I adore natural earth that I saw, in awe of her beauty,
Forever more, and again, I am in heaven,
Oh Celtic Sun - alas, one more truly happy day.

"Above all I must have flowers, always and always."

                                                  Quote by _Claude Monet

Another day of rain in my dream garden
But, the flowers still seem to be quite happy
Cupid's Dart, seems to be created by an artist's brush
Dazzles in watercolour lavender-blue
English Daisy, so dainty and adorable blooms sweetly
Foxgloves, pink and translucent pop up everywhere
Geranium I have planted in window boxes are bright and sublime
How can I not be happy too
Inside my heart and soul I am tranquility
Jacob's Ladder, in purple is already eight inches tall
Knockout beauty will be my stunning garden in time
Lily-of-the-Valley, richly perfumed grows under a Maple tree
Meadow Rue in pink sways gracefully in the wind
Nothing touches my heart more than mother's Peony transplants
Oriental Poppies will soon be vivid red here and there
Peonies will bloom and I will take some to the cemetery
Queen Anne's Lace, a wildflower I planted because I love it
Rose-Mallow Hibiscus, so dramatic will be bloom in late summer
Shasta Daisy is so joyful swaying, dancing in the breeze
Thyme, Oregano, Parsley and Rosemary have their place
Undaunted by the rain, my flowers simply grow
Violets, in purple were the first to peek from the earth in my garden
Wild Ginger, with their heart shaped leaves makes good tea
X-ray eyes of this gardener will banish all weeds
Yarrow, I truly love you, with your fantastic blend of pastels
Zealous bees zigzag, zip, sip and zoom from flower to flower

Winter In My Skin

The wind creeps slowly over the hill smiling at the sleeping daffodils its waiting for the sun to rise to breathe romance in the sky and fill the air with laughter. The species are known to man, they populate all over the land, and the wailing wind reminds me of an ancient tune that the emperor used to sing at noon to woo the young maiden to his chamber. Fragrance mixed with fragrance laying in the woods and the aroma from the sweet lavender escape from the old world and enters the new world with boots and socks scarfs and mittens and a thick coat to absorb the moisture from the earth, they will survive if you keep them warm but they will die if you leave them exposed in the open lawn. Flowers are blooming in the field, rosemary, oregano and winter jasmine, the temperature is falling and the people are moving around looking for a comfortable place to tarry for the winter. Winter has just began and I can feel it in my skin, autumn has come and gone, leaving lots of leaves scattered all over the lawn; this year’s winter is going to bite and you have to have the proper gloves to fight, open the winter shops and show the people what you have got, the people are coming in droves to buy the winter clothes. Open the store until late and wait patiently at the gate. For winter is walking in my skin and it is going to sting.
