Relentless, roiling vortex
consumes all evidence.
Sated, exhausted,

Notes for contest:
I joined Poetry Soup a few years ago and posted this as my first entry.
Reading back on it now, I am still pleased with its imagery and the message held within; how even the largest, most powerful man-made vessel becomes infinitesimal and completely helpless in the face of Nature's wrath.
I feel the poem flows with a nice rhythm and, as one kind 'Souper commented, the shape of the Nonet form almost replicates that of the subject matter - subconscious intent or happy coincidence…?
Poetry Soup has been instrumental in boosting my confidence and maintaining my output. The member-run contests provide continual motivation, whilst the kind and supportive comments from fellow 'Soupers are nothing less than inspirational. I thank you all.
Decorations hanging, lights and tree
A festive home of warmth for me
Gratitude is all around
But, there is no-one found
Lonely thoughts creep in
Moving the joy
To a far
Empty
Place
Then
A note
Comes along
From another
Message in a song
Singing only for me
Then all special things around
Bring new comfort with clarity

Summer sun's shadows pass like sand grasps.
Time twinkles by like leaves' lost green
Succumbing to weather's bend,
crimson crisps swirl to earth
like feathers' descent.
A grown child
picks up a
barn owl
quill.
Sun
trickles
upon her
shadowbox frame,
holding a green pressed
oak leaf gathered from youth.
Preserved words spill from her quill.
Arrangements change daily when she
tilts the hour glass to watch sand pass.

A Closed Mouth Catches No Flies
Silence is a strong shield we must learn
Some fights are not worth any bruise
to the soul
You learn this lesson much too late
After all the words explode
Cut like sharp glass so deep
Tongue is set on fire
Mouth shut tight
Wisdom
Bleeds
Verse 2
All That Glitters Ain't Gold
She wears her fake joy like golden wedding
rings
Smiles for the camera, poses for the whole
world
But when all the spotlights fail
Her shine is all on loan,you see
Truth pawned for social likes
Empty and sparkling
Diamond tears fall
Broken
Gone.
Blood is Thicker Than Wi-Fi
The family chat group full of ghosts now
Missed calls unread are just unseen hearts
They say they love you online, bruh
Real hugs require the air
And airtime is quite cheap
Love is data free
No network
If it's
Real
Feel me...the heat of a thousand suns!
I am passion among passions
Touch my soul as I burn hot
I'm sheer intensity;
the heat of my love
is much too hot
to handle

Hope is the flame that burns within,
A spark that ignites even in the darkest of sin.
It gives us courage to face our fears,
And dries the tears we've cried for years.
Hope is the light that shines so bright,
Guiding us through the darkest night.
It whispers softly in our ear,
"Keep going, my dear, you have nothing to fear."
Hope is the anchor that keeps us steady,
When the winds of life are strong and unsteady.
It reminds us that we're not alone,
And gives us strength to carry on.
So hold on to hope, don't let it go,
For it will carry you through the ebb and flow.
With hope in your heart and a smile on your face,
You can conquer any challenge, any place.
Hope is a flame that burns so bright,
A guiding light through darkest night,
A seed of strength that helps us cope,
And fills our hearts with endless hope.
With hope in hand, we bravely face,
The trials that we cannot erase,
And though the journey may be tough,
We know that we will rise above.
For hope gives us the will to try,
And helps us soar when we feel we can't fly,
It fuels our dreams and ignites our soul,
And gives us the courage to reach our goal.
So hold on tight to hope each day,
And let it light your every way,
For even in the darkest hour,
Hope has the power to bring us power.
So let us never lose sight of hope,
For with it, we can surely cope,
And know that no matter what life may bring,
Hope will always help us spread our wings.

As time passes by, another day
The road we travel twists and turns
Winding new discoveries
No need to count minutes
No need for dwelling
Have fun instead
Quality
Savored
Now
When
You find
The reason
To live fully
Worries Disappear
Hidden in piles of sand
Moving free with gravity
All that an hourglass does tell us
Time, if we do choose to look at it
Spending versus watching, no more wasting

prevails
trusting Christ
when fear assails
assured by Scriptures
calming vexatious angst
toward serene-filled gestures
for reaching-out compassion care
triumphantly blest to give and share.
Resplendent with blessed hope to cope
smiting trials when soul does grope

midst obscured vision lens
for championship bouts
by truth’s firm brace
