I know my life is moving slowly ahead
But there is a day coming that I dread.
It is the day I came to this earth.
It is the day to of my own birth.
For that was always the day
My children would display
Their handmade gifts of
Their devotion and love.
But my babies are now 5 years gone
And am trying not to be withdrawn.
But as this day draws near
I valiantly fight my tears.
But it is to no avail
As they lead their trail
Down my puffy face
As if they are in a race.
I am really really trying
Hard to keep from crying
As my heart is torn apart
But from me resolve departs.
The tears flow and flow
As my hurt does grow.
No one will remember me
As no one ever does you see.
God please forgive me
Lord please hear my plea.
Take care of my kids please
I am begging on my knees.
Never make this pain abate
As I know this was my fate.
Make sure they are in good care
And this soul wrenching pain I shall bare.
You shouldn’t be buried somewhere unmarked in there and I shouldn’t be here.
You should not have done that for me.
So many tears I’ve cried for you over the years.
In the trench you saw my fear. You saw the scared boy of me. You protected the innocence I hold so dear. The most important part of me.
You saw the shaking of my hands while your dead steady aim was so straight and true.
You were a presence of a man. A formidable soldier, no fear, no fool.
You ran into gunfire aimed at me. You died out there so that I could be here.
There was no tougher man out there, this I know. This I know and I hold your memory so dear.
You showed a care for my life, a care that the world didn’t want to know or hear.
Always the gentleman, always the strongest and kindest with the greatest smile.
After the war you were everything to me I want you to know.
It’s been thirty years since last I was here. Thirty years I never forgot you, I’ll never let the memory of you go.
You died for me on this battlefield. My life, my wife, my kids, my smile… I owe all of that to you.
Dear dad
Where did you go . Why did you leave me . Was my mom a hoe . Did you love us did you even try I mean you can’t be that bad of a guy .
Dad I use to look up to you . I wanted to be up like you . But I guess for all the wrong reasons . In and outta jail every season . You never came home and when you did it was for drugs or coke .
Personally it’s been 17 years and I’m still breaking theu the tears . Dad please come back I use to cry and you didn’t look back .
You hurt me by leaving me with a women who had nothing better than you . She drink and beat us . Make a fool outta us everytime she seen us . But you walked out and didn’t care . Dear dad why is this fair it’s not . But now the crying stops . I got my own kids and I’m on top . I use to say imma be like my dad but now I can’t I gotta be by myself and stand tall because if I’m like you all my kids with fall. And dear mom you did the same you clan ur better than him but never changed you drank beat us and acted ashamed told me you hoped I get hit by a bus and die that’s lame you treat me like makes me sick but the drugs got to y’all so I forgive it me and my kids we will be alright because I learned from you guys what not to side how not to treat them and not to leave them and how to wipe their eyes
MOTHER’S DAY CONTEMPLATION
She towered over me; she frowned.
So tall til we could see eye to eye.
Dad would growl, “Don’t talk back!”
What does that mean?
As I rounded the corner of motherhood, myself,
my mom’s always been there with an inclined ear.
I kept my smile but I would duly growl at my kids —
perhaps at times, a bit insane.
There’s a reason for a book such as
Diary of a Mad Housewife — I’ve
never read it, but the title captivates me.
A mother looks back through the pages
of her children’s lives - the smiles and hugs,
the punch out screams and tears (not
just for two year olds but for teenage years)
We’re glad to see them leave. We miss them.
The atrophy of family. The added branches
to the family tree. The contrast battling.
We love them, most of all. They break our hearts.
They melt our hearts when they recall our names.
I think I hear the phone ring.
Hip! Hip! Hooray!
The one who religiously calls me at midnight
has dialed me on a bright May morning.
As I sip my coffee and contemplate
this thing called motherhood,
let me never give up on those I’ve raised
to be good.

I like to watch skeins of geese flying in the autumn sky,
And I like the smell of frying bacon and luscious cherry pie!
I like to see the sun tinting Pikes Peak's crown in the early morn,
And the glorious Colorado sky as the sun ends its daily bourne!
I like to feel the tug of a rainbow trout on my fishing line,
And graceful garlands of snow adorning a ponderosa pine!
I like quiet evenings with my spouse nigh a warm and glowing fire,
Where we reminisce and dream of things for which we would aspire!
I like family reunions with my kids, grandkids, uncles and aunts,
And this may sound curious, but I like sharp creases in my pants!
I like to sit on the patio to muse and watch the squirrels at play,
And I like to go to church for inspiration, fellowship and to pray!
I like to listen to classical music or bury my nose in fascinating book,
And take leisurely evening strolls along a rushing mountain brook!
I like ice cream, tater chips, meatloaf, Brussels sprouts and chicken fried,
And I like the American flag that I shall always salute with pride!
I like it when the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies win!
(But, alas, neither team is doing that well, much to my chagrin!)
I like to hear the rolling thunder and rain gently falling on my roof,
And the rhythmic clip-clop upon the pavement of a horse's hoof!
I like barbeques and fireworks in the park on Independence Day,
And the mulitude of stars winking at me from the Milky Way!
I like the smell of roses and the rejuvenation of April showers,
And I like work - I can sit and watch it for hours and hours!
I like the charm and beauty of a little child's beguiling grin.
I like Laurel and Hardy and Jack Benny with his squawking violin!
I like to socialize with folks with can-do attitudes and high ambitions!
(I like most everything I reckon, 'cept sloven schmucks and politicians!)

I want to miss my kids
I want to see my hair no crumbs or cheese whiz
I want to enjoy healthy friendships
outings like camping and family things
me plus one for a change
I’m so tired of doing everything on my own
I’m always that single mom who’s alone
no partner, no man, just me,
Here I am
no other family, just a loner.
the judge me like a park perv with a *****
the way they look at me, like they pity me,
It was healthier than living with his violent mistakes
No sorry is good enough
When a man treats you worse than his stuff
Society sees a woman that can’t keep a man
They don’t see a woman strong enough to stand
Alone without allowing the disrespect to go on
Every carnival, every movie, every oil change, every bill I pay
Every flat tire every mile
every family photo a forced smile
the biggest lie ever sold
is too tell a woman she can have it all alone
she’s ripped apart shredded at each end
not knowing where she ends and the kids begin
night from day’
far from child's play
but something like a living nightmare
every lonely not long enough exhausted no rest day
As I lay in the night and ponder at the mistakes I made when I was younger your my biggest the only one of importance you took me by hand a lamb to the slaughter
You robbed me of everythg my body my looks but I held on to you like a flea dose a dog
I lost my family my friends all of my pride you were always there right by side
I wept and I cried I begged you to go when you did I followed no life of my own
You were master and i was your slave
you dragged me to hell and back again
As I sit and look back of the life I could have had I wish I never met you your evil and bad
You hide in the shadows for another victim to snatch another soul to fall into your deathly grasp
i weep for young who next you will slaughter I pray you keep your hands of my son and my daughter
If I see one of the devil's that peddles your wears even look at them sideways this promise I make
it will be the last thing that they ever shall do I will rip their Hart from their chest and stamp on it too
For me it's too late you have taken all that I had
stay away from my kids them you can not have
to protect them I will do all that I can
I will sell my soul to the devil again and again
You have left me a shell of the girl I once was
dead and empty inside nothing left for you to rob
If I could go back in time knowing what I do now one things for certain I would Never try you

Be as you wish to seem. By Socrates
I stood in a ditch, shrouded by darkness
I felt void as if the universe was falling apart
The wind moved silently through tree emptiness
Was it a hell that varied according to a sin chart?
There was utterly no vitality in the twilight
My restless soul vanished into stimulating sight
I prayed nonstop for meekness and delight.
What is my wish—a shooting star just for me?
I wish for world peace and a wagerer world spree
and that the kids of earth will not be hungry.
The sight of a single light gave me hopefulness
The sky was bathed in the light of magic heart
Then I gazed in awe as the moon rose bright
My kids, you are the stars that cure timeless glee.

The crowd shuffles
hands raised in vain attempt
to catch a windblown lottery ticket
If you spend 25 bucks
(not counting the price of the turkey)
You can get the turkey
for 89 cents a pound
If not….you’ll pay more
for the turkey than for
the entire dinner.
Took my grandkids to the park.
saw 32 wild turkeys crossing the street
without a crossing guard.
Never play checkers with a cat.
I made Rock Cornish Game Hen for supper.
My kids wanted to know what happened to the turkey?
I told them I washed it…..and it shrunk.
I once ate “Blood Pudding” and Parsnips with my father.
Don’t ask!
How long does it take to become “indigenous”?
I asked Mom: “how many jelly beans can I have?”
She answered: “how many is too many.”
If you factor in all the cleaning, shopping, arranging, set-up, preparation….
the Thanksgiving meal comes to about $89.73 per person..
More if you have a “kids” table.
