METAPHYSICAL MOMENTS
Upon my knee I come to thee
with my concern,to you,this plea

Chorus-I heard you speak,and so I wait
until my heart,with you relate

verse-so many times I ask and ask
inadequate to do this task

chorus-I know,I know,I hear your call
yet still hold back, frightened to fall

verse-at last I see and know within
strengthened by you,I can begin

chorus-A simple verse,from you above
to show to others Jesus love

after Robert Herrick TO GOD

Endwell me Lord,each day
be now my tongue,in all I say;
Endwell my all, from deep to deep
from dayspring,'til I sleep

after john keble's famous verse

Fill me once more,Holy Spirit to know,
Move me ,inside, you love to show,
Quieten my heart,now to play
Without rehearsal,on life's stage each phrase to say.

Speak,speak by thought,picture,word or deed,
Then in my weakness, your strength feed:
O teach my tomgue to quiet be,
Until you prompt, and all I say,is all of thee.

This double quatrain was inspired by
Abraham Cowley's (1618-67) 'Hymn to Light'

Make me O Lord your witness each day
teach my tongue, quieten my heart
open mine ears, to all, to me,you say
guide my eyes,when I see in part;
and then help others ,through these lips
to be blessed,toe to fingertip

Quatrain after Edward Taylor the first American poet

Sad is the heart so full of care
Of tomorrow's what will,will be,
Upon his sleeve, all life does wear,
                    For all to see

Cast down, choking with eyes that blear
No words can comfort or make free,
Thought frozen in yesterday's fear,
                   That none can see.

After Alexander Pope

The God Behind the Curtain

By Mark D. Stucky
Curtains sometimes keep apart things that need connecting
and conceal things that, in their time, need uncovering.

“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain,”
the hiding humbug Wizard of Oz implored in vain
when discovered by Dorothy, her dog, and companions,
revealing the true presence of the mysterious Oz.

Millenia earlier, once every year, on the Day of Atonement,
a high priest entered behind the curtain of the Holy of Holies,
where the mysterious metaphysical presence of God resided,
veiled, hidden, and isolated from the people outside the temple.
This separation and glances at glory continued for centuries,
but the moment Christ died on the cross, the earth quaked,
and that concealing temple curtain ripped wide open,
removing that separation between us and God.

Now…do pay attention to the God who was behind the curtain,
the one who inhabits Holies of Holies inside human hearts.

WOOHOO WOOHOO

Was HeartSpace Void or
were there cobwebs and
white lace, ladders and portals
like they said ?

It was spacy
I tried to find a
Centre, then mnemonic
music tumbled down
filled with numbers
I could not read

I heard names and
more names
Julia, Steph, Connor
Malik, Satima, Des
Charlie, Oscar

Across jumped a
black panther, then
came tigers
a Persian cat
an entire Lyran tribe

No, it was not Void
HeartSpace was not
Void
Woohoo Woohoo

White lace and white lice
two in one
the Third was
Void
the Third breathed life !
a single yellow Ace
A Golden, Golden Ace
perfection timed perfection

Holidays became holidaze
drunk, drunk daze
a karmic with a grey beard
no nose, curly locks, curly locks
Woohoo Woohoo

An owl and a pussy cat
Yes, many seats
no green notes
guitar, notepads, needles
cotton reels and there
was a Freudian slip !
a Nazi salute !!
can you believe
can you believe
across HeartSpace
where black Void and
Home should have been
Woohoo Woohoo

There is no in and
there is no out
there’s no right
no wrong
no left no right
no right no left

Just conscious quantum
waves across illusions of
bodies, ships, homes
boats without bosuns
crews without crew caps
youth in woodies, white smiles
Woohoo Woohoo

What is this Consciousness
what is this ?!
Just qualia programmes
qualia programmes
for MY fun and joy
MY fun and joy

Woohoo Woohoo

Frivolous Chase

All eye admiration flood upon your presence
Beyond words, this mind bleeds,
Crushed by your metaphysical yet practical brilliance
Deafened by the hilarity of your quirks
Envying those that may embellish in your jests
Frozen in tears where the past brings smiles
Groveling beside the untouched potential
How is it you excel among such fetid company?
Initiating your moon-shines like the sun is your god
Jumping jacks pounding these ever depressing soles
Kittling the fingertips mindfully so
Lackadaisically glancing upon our stranger-friend relationship
Mustering the audacity to surmount your eccentricities
No one could ever quite notice before
Opulent in knowing you have captured so many
Pained inside to the very last penny
Quenched from courage, I remain caged in your glory
Rabid to agitate your unacquainted waters
Suckling upon the overflow—
The leftovers that offer richness I will never know
Understanding you wholeheartedly—I quiver
Violated by the comfort tease of your words
Wondering how love can surface upon unsteady oceans
X chromosome searching for a sharp fool within a current of chaos
Y chromosome spinning, slightly hidden with a small, sparkly smile
Zealous in the frivolous chase—I was latched from the start

What Our Angels on High Meant

One whose heart and soul are pure
And are full of love and content,
Is one whose life and deeds have
Gloriously been fulfilled and knew
What our angels on high meant.

Is it to be part of our fate and destiny?
To wonder why things are as they are,
Or is it to seek a spiritual approach and
A metaphysical concept of much greater
Import than we can possibly imagine?

This indeed gives us all a noble purpose true,
Whereby we can all aspire to the course
We take on life’s road in fulfilling our sacred
Fate and destiny in our Lord God’s name—
For this is what our angels on high meant.

Premium Member Looking For Love In Right Places

I find
hear
see
right hemisphere prominently feel,

But cannot quite touch
something sexy
about left/right cooperatively resonant
waves of wealthy ego-rooting
eco-rooted health.

I suppose
whether felt as sexy
or more generically sensory,
depends on neurological origin
and completion
of sensory information
and climatic exportation.

Spiritual resonance experiences qualities
of our multicultural
EarthBound journey together
and apart

As naturally resilient outcomes
of felt left/right integrity,
glimpsed and heard
when resonantly touched,
bring consensual pleasure

And,
sometimes,
as inclusively appropriate
invited
graced,

Sensually sexy disciplines
of physical passion,
metaphysical waves
of revolutionary
resonant compassion
minding
and reminding
20/20 loving insight
through restoring
by healing
global EarthJustice integrity,
sensory spirit of sexual nature.

Take me away with your eloquent talk
Tell me news about my ideology
Show me the opportunities baulked
Smile at my unsaid apologies
Put me into scheme where I’m just a screw
Within a machine that makes war
Stereotype me with anything you
Distinguished about times before
Your precious guidance is my comfort zone
All you expected to see
That’s what I am, when I’m here alone
And you are talking to me
What can I say? There’s no way to ignore
Calamities of some failed state
Where I was accidentally born
You wouldn’t envy this fate
I won't try to disarm the army
I can't vacate laws and police
Of course I don’t think its too funny
To be accused for all this
Don’t want to cause any damage
There is no point to load you
With what I’m not able to manage
With something beyond my full due
As you have hinted, I’m little
So in metaphysical sense
There's nothing about to fiddle
I cost no extensive expence
I value a lot what you say
You are my interlocutor here
You help me to live through the day
Even if me you can’t hear.

Soul Sustenance

It is said "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
It's all in how we see life itself
and what we indeed take from it too
Our relation to time - being and existence
Food to the metaphysical heart - Love
Truth to the mind - bringing peace
physical and emotional fulfilment
When the soul is nourished
we are in better place
to face the choices and decisions
facing us each day
Thoughts are momentary
but any feeling
is accompanied with repeated thought patterns
meaning they stay deep routed
within us for longer periods
Silence and reflection can help us to focus
making positive decisions for good
causing ourselves a lesser pain
Spiritual sustenance
that is empowering to the inner self

Premium Member WALKING WITH THE BIRDS

One the beach the other morning…it’s difficult to find the words
to express the feeling we both felt…while walking with the birds.

As usual we began this walk in darkness…it’s something we both adore
but at first light a flock of sandpipers flew in and joined us on the shore.

They were not afraid of us as they searched the sea for breakfast
and sang their morning songs.
In fact, when they noticed we were there…they invited us to walk along.

As they dashed back-and-forth dipping their beaks into the water
or in the sand along the shore.
We just had to ask them, “Hey sandpipers! What is it you’re searching for?”

“Every day we search for food to help us survive,” one sandpiper said,
But we search for joy and happiness as well.”
“And today our survival and our joy and happiness can be found inside these shells.”

Deborah and I stared at each other…a look that can best be described as quizzical.
Both thinking…who knew sandpipers along the beach could be so metaphysical?

We talked philosophy with the birds for a while…
(after all there was so much to discuss)
and after finishing their breakfast they asked, “Would you like to fly with us?”

“We’re about to head over to that island…it’s just a short flight across the sky.”
With our heads bowed we said, “We’d love to…but we don’t know how to fly.”

Every sandpaper turned and looked at us…for a moment they were frozen to the shore..
“If you can’t fly,” they asked, “then what were your arms created for?”

As we tried to explain the birds chuckled…said goodbye
then flew off to that island across the sea…
leaving there on the shore the only animals that cold not fly…
that would be Deborah and me.

Those times in life when we think we are better and more intelligent than the animals
just because we have a bigger brain and can express ourself in words….
It’s good stop…to take a moment…and go walking with the birds..
