Meat Loaf Tribute Rip

The world turning vegan and we’ve lost our Meat Loaf
Nothing really rocks and nothing really rolls
music that was worth the cost
A real dead singer we loved
A real dead sinner leave us
And if he’s gotta be dammed
you know he wants to be dammed dancing through the night with you,
And now we won’t do that
Forget dreaming every night of our lives,
No way, I would do anything for loaf,
but he won’t come back
took the words right out of his mouth,
It must have been that COVID 19 weaz
Like a bat out of hell was unwell when the mourners come
Now life is over like a bat out of hell he is gone gone gone

A few lyrics of Meat Load set up this tribute
so saddened by the news in my final salute

Premium Member Country Living

Country living, casual, comfortable, mashed potatoes,
Meat loaf, corn on the cob, and plenty of butter, oozing
Gardens are blooming with vegetables, tasty and fresh,
Succulent tastes popping out in unexpectedly wonderful ways,
Barnyard cats are squatting behind bushes waiting for
Blue and red birdsongs to swoop in, catching a gray wren.
A welcoming porch sits waiting, warmed by the sun, admiring
The gardener in the over-sized straw hat.
She bides her time, knowing she will be more popular after supper.
Aromatic lilacs wafting scents in from the side porch,
Butterflies flit amongst the Rose of Sharons
Robin chases cardinal away from the feeder,
thinking she has had a long enough turn.
Blue jay makes his move.  I look into the sun for a second;
wondering what she is thinking.
Perhaps she is admiring my gorgeous yard.
 Other people vacation at resorts.
I stay here. Country living.
Nothing prettier or more
Delightful.

Dearest Betty, we miss you so much,
so many characters we got to know,
Your wonderful, unique, funny touch
A special one ~ "Rose's" Golden glow!

"SueAnn"made us laugh ~ MTM fare,
baked pies, made meatloaf, and sexy eyes,
shut oven door with her derriere,
innovator of delicious surprise!

You were guest on all major talk shows,
your credits are long, including songs,
your emmys~so many~the list overflows
you were everywhere and always belonged.

Yet I'll miss most your sweet, dimpled smile
and your wit~always a touch risque'.
You warmed our hearts for a nice, long while,
Still...I so wish you could have stayed.

A Meat loaf dinner
I need to Preheat oven to 350 degrees
I must go to the store and buy some,
3 lbs of ground chuck
@ $4.99 a pound
1. I'll gather a large bowl, combine the beef
2. egg and onions
3. some milk and bread crumbs and oatmeal. ...
4. In a separate small bowl, combine molasses brown sugar, tomato paste ..
5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
                                 Serving in this dish
                                  with baked potatoes
                                     and corn and cabbage

Premium Member Dear God Its Meatloaf Just Add Ketchup

Things need to get straight

Somewhere there are pearly gates

Using goodness as bait

White and mystical

Healthy and physical

Then there is standing there in the street

A man filled with theatrical heat

Underneath the dark sky

Shifting through the stage reality lie

Illuminated by a lamp

Similar to the dock at the crystal lake camp

Reading casting ads

All seem tasteless and bad

Decided to go

To the one called ‘a picture show’

What was this?

Low budget biz?

“It could be an opera like the star-studded Tommy

Or G rated James Bond magical car where the kids can go with Mommy”

Said the marketing pro

Who was ‘in the know’

Displaying advice

Being nice

Claiming to be an expert

Side hustling selling his concert shirt

Rocky idea originally failed

Got out of jail

Finding bail

Came back

From critic’s attack

Going the distance

Having persistence

Never needed a sequel

To equal

The first one

Still is so much fun

Shown at midnight

Not really looking for a fright

Instead wanting partying might

Tonight, somewhere plays a band

In a garage or on the sand

They mimic a song

Tempting and wrong

About a bat who got out of hell

A story the lyrics did tell

As they turn into who they really are

Visiting friends hanging at the bar

Telling them soon they will spend what is in the tip jar

Observing from above

Wearing a heavenly usher’s glove

Now filled with love

An inexpensive piece of meat

Late hours add ketchup, it is a delightful treat

Enjoying bread and wine

Payment for his time

Realizing he really did shine

Down there

Taking the youthful sinful dare

Entertaining using character flair

For all to share

Until we all gather up there

Over meatloaf that is now gourmet

And to be frank ‘he did it his way’

Premium Member Thanksgiving Leftovers

'Twas the day after Thanksgiving and all of its ado and congestion.
I'd consumed too much turkey and pie and due to its ingestion,
Today, I'm suffering from a very acute case of indigestion!
I should've stifled my gluttonous bent - of that there is no question!

Of turkey meat and the trimmings I've had more than enough,
But my spouse has already planned next week's menu in the rough,
Saying, "You'll eat what I fix and I want none of your inane guff!
I know how to dispose of leftover turkey and all that other stuff!"

So, a hearty turkey stew and sweet taters are on the menu Monday.
A steaming bowl of turkey soup will grace our board on Tuesday.
Two turkey sandwiches with green bean casserole we'll have Wednesday.
Turkey salad and punkin pie will be placed before me for lunch Thursday.

A heap of mashed taters topped with turkey a la king for dinner Friday.
Turkey fricassee with cranberry sauce we'll eat for dinner Saturday.
Enough turkey was available for potpies that we'll dine on Sunday.
YeeHah! Ain't no more turkey - I'll have a cheeseburger come next Monday!

Lord, You know I'm mighty thankful for that which You graciously provide,
And please don't thing me an ungrateful oaf, but if in You I may confide,
May it please You come next Thanksgiving, 'twould be so very nice,
If You'd provide a simple meat loaf, mashed pertaters and wild rice!

A Rhyming a Random

Celebrity deaths can be bizarre
someone so close yet so far
the realisation hits you hard
yet they have no clue who you are

Meat Loaf sang to my youthful years
Sarah Harding sang with my peers
when the Queen died there were tears
and was Diana’s what it appears

Watching those planes hit those towers
the world as one witnessed those cowards
that massacre in the morning hours
then militaries became empowered

Next was London then Paris too
England crying unis avec vous
testing times bring out those true
voted Brexit but love E.U

Man United won the treble
Man City now at that level
the blue moon shines on the Red Devil
history books record those special

2003 England’s World Cup
‘66 yes please shut up
scandalous FIFA so corrupt
3 Lions always self destruct

We made football we made law
this island nation oh so small
conquerors of more than all
fighting giants not so tall

The history that we best remember
“On the beaches never surrender”
NATO nations all one member
all for one with one agenda

As we explore beyond the moon
machines on Mars out to Neptune
the News at 6 bringing gloom
AI Ukraine and monsoon

Covid Ebola and the climate
protesters who have never climaxed
trains crashes that left the tracks
deaths resort from knife attacks

YouTubers that speak to many
all done just to make some money
causing offence so nothing’s funny
can’t let meat reach your tummy

Notice now how kids have causes
blocking roads because they’re foolish
speaking without knowledge shortness
things we learned that no one taught us

Growing up I owned a tortoise
someone nicked it from its fortress
for its value seeking fortunes
never knowing what’s a porpoise

Random thoughts of simple sorts
sleeping nude no boxer shorts
the warmth of her who I will court
keep mingers the last resort

ugly ones say no thank you
get drunk and I guess you’ll do
wake up somewhere strange confused
run away cus she’s a moose

Handsome hand written and random
stopping once I’m paid a ransom
I’m not sure of that Charles Manson
singing songs written by Hanson

Premium Member The Dishes

She rose from the table moving slowly to the sink. This was not her favorite time, too much time to think. Her body moved from memory now, the right bit of dish detergent, she must refill that bottle soon, moving the faucets to memorized positions, water streamed out on cue, precisely the right temperature, “hot to clean - not to scald”.
She and water worked well together, having partnered in so many chores; laundry, toilets, sinks and floors. One plate now, one knife, one fork. Sometimes she would cut things like meat loaf or fish with the edge of the fork, skipping the knife, one less utensil to wash. Less time at the sink, less time to think. Against the outside darkness she could see her reflection in the kitchen window. How old she had become. Reminders were everywhere of how her life was dwindling, shrinking, shriveling. She felt too small for her skin, which hung loosely on her like a half-filled bag of potatoes, pouches and folds everywhere. She would need to put this dishcloth in the laundry after finishing. She always rinsed them in cold water to inhibit the bacteria growth but they would start to smell after only a few days. She had become accustomed to foul smells. The smell of dying cells and incontinence pads and bad breath, side effect of certain medicines. She hated eating alone, living alone, being alone, but sometimes she hated it even more when memories of better days settled in upon her. it was like a visit, full of joy and expectation, exciting conversations, catching up, and sharing fond memories. But it was always followed by goodbyes, the pain of separation, and a return to loneliness. She put her plate in the cupboard and was reminded of how she had put other things in her life away; her younger sister from an accident, her only son from someone’s war, her husband three years back from cigarettes she had threatened to divorce him over. She put her silverware in the drawer and closed it tightly, closing her mind tightly at the same time. It wouldn’t do to dwell on any of this, what’s done is done. The dishes were done

Premium Member "hi Honey! I'M Home!"

"Hi honey! I'm home!" A greeting that will be heard in many homes tonight!
Hubby will be kissed by his lovely wife and he'll hug her, oh, so tight!
The kids clamber for a hug and kiss as he asks, "How was school today?"
Even Slug the pup barks and Simba the cat purrs, each to have his say!

His wife fixed his favorite meal of meat loaf, peas and mashed potatoes,
Raspberry tea, cherry pie ala mode and, oh, yes, there were fresh tomatoes!
Father said the grace thanking Him for their food and His Creation,
And asked for protection for military folks who defend this great nation!

After dinner they relaxed on the deck with a drink to watch the setting sun.
The kids chased lightning bugs on the lawn at dusk having loads of fun!
Later, the cat and dog cuddled on the hearth and the kids were tucked in bed.
Daddy read a few fairy tales - then the children's prayers were said.

Alas, across the world in foreign lands other Daddies won't be home tonight.
The only thing that they will hug is their M-16 and carry on the fight.
They'll wolf down a tasteless MRE and be greeted by the Sergeant's shout:
"Get ready for another midnight patrol - now everybody out!"

He's not concerned about promotions and medals for laurels won.
He just pines for his family's fond embrace when his tour is done.
Oh, glorious, heavenly day when he's back home never more to roam!
Oh, glorious day when he bounds thro' the door saying, "Hi honey! I'm home!"
