Country Living

Country living, casual, comfortable, mashed potatoes, Meat loaf, corn on the cob, and plenty of butter, oozing Gardens are blooming with vegetables, tasty and fresh, Succulent tastes popping out in unexpectedly wonderful ways, Barnyard cats are squatting behind bushes waiting for Blue and red birdsongs to swoop in, catching a gray wren. A welcoming porch sits waiting, warmed by the sun, admiring The gardener in the over-sized straw hat. She bides her time, knowing she will be more popular after supper. Aromatic lilacs wafting scents in from the side porch, Butterflies flit amongst the Rose of Sharons Robin chases cardinal away from the feeder, thinking she has had a long enough turn. Blue jay makes his move. I look into the sun for a second; wondering what she is thinking. Perhaps she is admiring my gorgeous yard. Other people vacation at resorts. I stay here. Country living. Nothing prettier or more Delightful.

So much going on that city folks (like me) would hardly notice. You've captured it well. It is surely a delight for those who have the vision to see it. Season's best, Gershon

It is so dam**** amazing to live in the country; it it was not for the country, I could not stand to work in the city. Not stand it!

It is wonderful; wish I lived there. When I visit friends and relatives in the country, I'm so well rested the next morning; no cars, trucks, trains, parties, drunks talking loud; it's just pure quiet and restful there. Beautiful piece of work.

Caren you have captured the true beauty of country life. I lay in my hammock in the spring and watch my vegetables grow and my chickens scratch around in the yard. There is nothing more peaceful. Thanks for the sweet reminder.

I love the country; it was a poem I discovered in a notebook written probably this summer on a lazy day.

A delightful scene, indeed. Lovely verse. Easy and serene. I can envision the porch, lilacs and those exact birds.Country living was how and where I grew up...a great place to grow up. Your poem is so picturesque, Caren.

I agree with you, Caren! A wonderful write depicting country life. I grew up on a farm in Indiana and left there to enlist in the AF for 30 years but how I long for country life now! Merry Christmas to you and your family - Bob H

Thank you Bob. Merry Christmas to you! My daughter was a Captain in the US Air Force; she is a federal employee now. I always wanted to live in the country and be a grandma, so I am now doing both- living my dream. Thank you for the lovely comment. I am from Iowa, but living in Kansas, the last bit of country I could find near Kansas City.
