Nearing A Cure
By
Tom Wright
(A 38-Year Cancer Survivor)

I pray that with each passing day
Man will find an answer,
For that dreaded disease
We’ve so long known as cancer.

Let’s get involved and slay
This wickedest of beast,
From the most robust among us
To the most frail and least;

Let’s fund this beast from our all
Not merely from excess;
While continuing to front our cause
Lets not digress.

Let us plant the seed and water *
Then expect they’ll sprout and grow,
But there’s much work yet to do
And too few willing to sow; ***

Some unproven seeds of theory
We may see not succeed,
For they may not get the funding
That they have need;

But to God in prayer
Daily faith we must release,
Remembering that He alone **
Provides increase.

Think About It

In watching the television or looking out my front door
Alongside it seems to run with the verses of Matthew 24
Rumblings from The Ring of Fire and rumors of War
Things have become so dire like He's right at the door

Only the Father knows as we sit here in the toes of time
Humanity reaching new lows with no reason nor rhyme
Decieved by the wicked one, unable to see, hear or understand
The Light of his only Son, nails through each Hand

Scoffers? Too many to name and the increase in wickedness
Jesus took your blame so it's Heaven you wouldn't miss
So many are in the dark and there they may forever remain
Not even in the ballpark as even understanding this a strain

So they gamble with their soul with odds they can't win
Jesus took your roll in the punishment of your sin
Just think for one minute, and call upon His Name
Do this one little bit and life will never be the same

I pray for all lost souls,
that God May bless them
with the greatest gift of all,
Faith in His Glorious Name.

If only father time could... but

with sinking feeling in gut
ready to vent off steam

to pull this mad man
out of figurative rut

Chalk permanent heart wrenching

even lame to assuage
smoldering ire, wherever

Matthew
By Franklin Price
10/8/2016

Matthew marked its chosen path through the Caribbean Sea.
Death and destruction on the way devastation in Haiti.
Not rebuilt from earthquakes that destroyed what homes were there.
Population now in tents and shacks, Matthew really didn't care

With winds and rains in torrents, flooding tides to maim and kill
People who have nothing; without help, they never will.
Hundreds, maybe thousands, dead and gone in Matthew's wake.
Why did they have to go through this, how much more can they take?

Matthew kept on going, sights on the U.S.A.
Hurricanes are not selective as they travel on their way.
Warm waters kept big Matthew at a category four,
As it headed for the mainland after killing many poor.

Was headed to do awful things where men are sent to space.
Then Matthew deviated and skirted 'round that place.
Eye just lying off the coast, winds pushing tides up high,
Hundred mile an hour gusts, as Matthew passed right by.

Trees blown down, some damage, many homes with power loss
Matthew letting us all know that nature's still the boss
Heading up to Georgia, then the Carolinas too
Hope you protected all you have, did all that you could do

Matthew now diminished, down to category one.
It's spinning clouds rotating, still blocking out the sun.
Projected that tomorrow, will be heading out to sea.
I pray you're safe, when it is gone, along with friends and family.

Premium Member Not My Will But Thine Be Done

"Not my will, but thine be done".
Though his mortal flesh was weak,
Yet these words God's only Son
In his darkest hour did speak.
True obedience demands
That we oft repeat this prayer -
Doing all the Lord commands,
Giving him our every care.

Like the prodigal, my choice
Is to fly to foreign lands,
Heeding not the Father's voice:
"Child, thy life is in my hands".
Having spent what was not earned,
Living recklessly and rude -
To the father's love returned
And his will again pursued.

Make my will and thine the same,
Cause this selfish heart to yield.
It is for such hearts Christ came,
By his stripes such hearts are healed.
Though he be my only friend,
Still my soul upon him leans -
Though I cannot see the end,
I must trust him with the means.

We like sheep have gone astray
From the path the Lord has willed.
Each has turned to his own way
And for such, Christ's blood was spilled.
Asking, "Father fashion me
In the image of thy Son” -
May my sole petition be,
"Not my will but thine be done".

Without Knowing Your Gender

Without Knowing Your Gender...,
(nonetheless ex post facto still flattered)

Bhutan names defy affiliating,
determining, identifying... gender,
and what a faux pas this dada admits,
when a blessed high school
student did league gully tender

benighted, gifted, ordained yours truly
with sobriquet "Guru"
alluded to in previous poem, render
ring this foolish hearty good fella (me)
falling prey to embarrassing situation,

(I did misrender
as would be expected
from this crash test dummy,
who dented his psychological fender),
vis virtual mind bender,

when an initial presumption
smarted Matthew Scott as offender,
asper online youth NO pretender
by him, aye mean the sender
communicated his admiration,

adoration, adulation for this big spender
of sincerity, viz singular poetic magi - (ha)
made presumption that
unknown messenger slender,
and female, and

upon enclosing appender
referencing person as "lovely princess"
did respondent clarify finding deface
of zee poet here -
logic chops went thru blender

as if slapped by a suspender
experiencing irrevocable shame
as though a contender
attempting to guide false supposition
playfully mistaking sexual

identity of male sender,
he (young kneeler)
bowed as winning scoring goaltender
down as mine professed

metrical feet, he who acquiesced
non Asian minor, friender
NOT seeking moneylender,
nor mistook my heart of gold),
mine apology I did obligingly surrender

and possibly chuckled to himself,
asper an uproarious hellbender
whereat my countenance turned
fifty plus shades of lavender.

Premium Member God Is With Me Every Day

This title is confirmation of life
for me in every moment each day
the God of the heavens Himself
came down to fill this lump of clay

This God sent His only begotten son
to be born of a virgin 2000 years ago
Jesus is Immanuel God with us
came to earth from heaven to strike a blow

Showing the love of God for mankind
to take away our sin by a sacrificial act
dying on a cross 33 years later
this display of God's mercy is actual fact

This same God lives in me every day
by His spirit guiding me with His presence
listens to my prayers speaks by His word
points me in righteousness in all true sense

This is indeed the eternal living God
abiding in me providing all my good
promising never to leave nor forsake me
this is my God on this rock I have stood

(Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign, "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son and shall call His name Immanuel."

Matthew 1:23 "Behold, the virgin will be with child and bear a Son and they shall call His name Immanuel,")

Jesus replied, “Foxes have holes
and birds of the air have nests,
but the Son of Man has no place
to lay his head.” Matthew 8:20 NIV

PLACE OF RESPITE

Cheek-tinge of pink dawning in the murky skies.
Blandness of deep-earthed bark, stretching,
touched by birdsong…long overdue, it pries
the stirring of tinctures, heart-revival fetching.

The soft cooing of dove-white countenance
behind the adventurous arms of upright praise.
The milky colorant, the soothe of boundlessness,
heaven’s face — the wise eyes of Jesus’ blaze.

Crustose lichen of green, subtle stripes of peel,
signature branch-sketch, by God’s hand, varicose
leans into his every word — his glory-heel
at cross-times past, every blood path, bellicose.

Eureka! I once again, open my ears to golden notes.
Why is chirping so charming? …like an angelic shake,
the bell one or many…the beckon from furry coats,
unseen-existence b’neath the heaven’s silver lake.

The light brightens on the horizon, a New Year shines
through the I’m-glad-I’m-home-steal-my-heart blinds
Familiar bittersweets and blues, buttercup-yellows, signs
that love is close of hand and hearth, most oft’ kind.

Beyond romance
of one-flesh* ecstasy…
above sweet expectations
during marriage-vow recital…
may God’s love lift you up together
bound by His passionate affection, divine
toward blessed, blissful, beautified union… verily triumphant!

When facing turmoil
after grand wedding date…
from struggles and adjustments
despite sweet honeymoon’s delight…
may the Lord’s care keep you all the more
cleaving well to one another much intimately
thanking God for blessing you as husband and wife!

Constantly in love
within faith-commitment’s cord
enclosed by the great Lover’s warmth
fiery, to quench coldness of decadence…
may Christ’s grace ceaselessly wrap your hearts
sealing your devotion, to weather marital challenges
as you stay joyous in your partnership that exalts the Saviour!
