Death of My Ink
After a masterpiece that I was proud to write
no poetic words flowed from my pen out right
I could not ink the description of a desert dry
and worse yet had no mindset to try
thought I had to be conflicted enough
to use words to scream out in pain
I had no arsenal to name the sea a quilt of blue
Writing had come to a screeching halt
and not penning poetry was like food without salt
But just as a cloud hung over a little boat
a storm raged over my drink ink moat.
My ink did not have bicycle wheels
nor did it chase me wearing high heels
I had no idea if ink could have a revival
it was dead I assumed no survival.
If life was a canvas how would you paint it
If life was a canvas how would I paint it
Bright colors making rainbows, a picture of fun
Would you paint by the numbers and quickly be done
Approach with simplicity on your brain
A life full of cheer, one that's easy to maintain
This fear arises after staring at my page
A vision played out, a scene of puppets on a stage
A life mapped out from beginning to end
This how you'll dance and all will blend in
From this nightmare I awaken, intent to flee
Trapped in someone's vision, I demand to be free
For my thoughts to run wild, to erupt when they may
Deciding what I dream, what I think, what I say
No cage for my brain, no shackles for my life
Persuade all you want, try to entice
There's one thing I've learned, I yearn for a fight
Opportunity to overcome, triumph, to do right
Just out of spite I'll paint my picture
An array of splatters, a distasteful mixture
A canvas made dirty, ruined in your view
Full of feeling, truth, maybe a little rude
Strokes of genuine love and pain
New life and sunshine, some death and rain
A vision to stay true to this life we all live
No hiding the turmoil or effort we give
While embracing the moments we all live for
Family, adventure, comfort and more
A smile that brings light and calms a storm
Devastating events that cause you to mourn
The good and the bad, the beautiful and ugly
Unique beliefs, standards, and controversy
Displaying our fears of the mundane and unknown
Of the sights we have seen, the ones yet to be shown
A love hate relationship with all that we know
Places we've been, left and hope to go
Outside the lines, no connecting the dots
Refusal to reform nor stay in one spot
No outline to my life, no limit to my potential
More than one muse, all is influential
I'll hang it on my wall for all to critique
To say what they will, my future is bleak
A magnificent mess of highs and lows
A hint of mystery, let the suspense grow
With an area untouched, left blank for a reason
Specially reserved for the upcoming season
A masterpiece in the making, one of a kind
A Jessie Original, you can't have it, it's mine
One man's dream is another's nightmare
So to each their own, let's keep it fair
You apologize for your brokenness
As though cracked things cannot still hold light.
You gather your shattered pieces
With trembling hands,
Certain no one could ever love
A heart that has survived so much.
But I have read enough poetry
To know the most beautiful verses
Are never written on untouched pages.
They are stained with tears,
Folded by time,
Scarred by the weight of being carried
Through impossible scenarios.
You call yourself damaged.
I call you a masterpiece still being written.
I have watched you turn pain into metaphors,
Heartbreak into sonnets,
Loneliness into constellations of ink,
That somehow makes strangers feel less alone.
You search for beauty
In abandoned things,
Wilted flowers,
And skies split apart by storms.
Oh, my broken poet...
You were never difficult to love.
You simply learned too well
How to believe the voices that confused abandonment with truth.
Come here.
Lay down the armor forged from old betrayals.
Set aside the pen for a moment.
You do not have to earn affection
With eloquent verses.
Or hide your scars behind clever metaphors.
Let me be the one to love you
On the days your poems refuse to bloom.
Let me be the one to hold the silence between your words.
Because love is not meant to repair every crack.
It is meant to remind you
That you are worthy
Even with every one of them.
And if one day you find yourself writing about me,
I hope it’s not because I fixed you.
I hope it’s because I sat beside your ruins,
Taking your shaking hand in mine while showing you what you had forgotten
That even the most broken poet,
Has always been a love poem waiting to believe in itself.
Not in a palace built of gold, nor a throne of ivory carved,
But in the heart where embers glow, excellence is truly served.
It blooms not in the sterile gleam of trophies won on marble floors,
But in the soul's resilient song that whispers through open doors.
It ripples not in stagnant pools where shadows lie and brood,
But in the river's rushing tide, a symphony is misunderstood.
It shines not in the polished lens of fame's relentless gaze,
But in the quiet candle's flame that lights a lonely maze.
For excellence is not a crown, a burden grand and cold,
But in the dance of sun and rain, a story waiting to unfold.
It whispers in the wind-kissed leaves, a hymn of ancient trees,
And sings in raindrops on the roof, a lullaby of ease.
It's woven in the spider's web, a masterpiece of grace,
And sculpted in the weathered rock, a testament to space.
It hums in bees' industrious wings, a symphony of gold,
And flickers in the firefly's light, a story yet untold.
So seek not excellence in halls where marble statues stand,
But in the calloused hand that plants a seed in barren sand.
It's not in victory's fanfare, nor the conqueror's stride,
But in the gentle hand that heals, in love that knows no tide.
For excellence is not a quest for things that the eye can see,
But in the quiet, steady beat of what you truly are.
It's in the laughter shared with friends, a warmth that melts the frost,
And in the tears that cleanse the soul, a lesson never lost.
So let your spirit soar like hawks on the thermals of the sun,
And weave your tapestry of life, with threads of light outrun.
For excellence is not a race, a finish line to claim,
But in the journey's every step, a whispered, burning name.
Live, love, and learn, with open eyes and open hearts,
And in the tapestry you weave, find your work of art.
For excellence is not a prize, a trophy held aloft,
But in the quiet, steady flame, the ember's burning soft.
A spark within us, a flame that burns so bright
Guiding us forward, through life's darkest night
The voice whispers secrets, of a greatness yet unknown
A declaration that stirs the soul, and awakens us to our throne.
You, too, possess this greatness, a treasure yet untold
A light that shines within, a story yet to be unfold
Don't let the shadows of doubt, or fears that would ensnare
Hold you back from soaring, on the winds of hope and faith that's there.
Breathe in the essence of resilience, and let your heart be bold
Learn to rise above, to conquer and never grow cold
Sip from the cup of hope, and let its sweetness revive
And when the storms of fear assail, let courage be your shield and guide.
Erase the word "impossible" from the canvas of your mind
And paint instead a masterpiece, of "I can," "I will," and "I am divine"
You are great, and greatness awaits, just beyond the horizon's bend
So rise, dear one, and claim your birthright, your greatness that will never end.

I've searched my whole life for someone to want me, trying to fill the void with so many things. Heartbroken and lonely, in my heart long to be, wanted, and someone to accept me for me.
In the silence of nights when the tears softly fall, I hear not the world, but a voice through it all. God whispers to me, “I’m here, just trust in Me,” A promise of love that sets my heart free.
In the stillness, He comes, a peace like no other, a Father, a Friend, closer than a brother. His love, ever-present, so vast and divine, a love that says, “Child, you’re forever mine.”
He’s my guiding light, a voice so serene, through the shadows of doubt, He keeps my path clean.
In His embrace, the emptiness fades, a life once so broken, now beautifully made.
No longer I search for what I once sought, for in His presence, I’ve found what is not bought. Accepted, beloved, His masterpiece, I see, in Him, I am wanted, I am finally free.
Dear Lord,
Make this Christmas jolly and worthwhile
during this abnormal, trying time.
Make the world a safer and more
peaceful place and assuage anxieties
surrounding this enduring pandemic.
Keep all and sundry safe and sound,
especially little children; animals, too.
Just as a sculptor uses a variety of
modeling tools to create a masterpiece,
remold broken people so their souls sing again.
Notwithstanding all the illnesses and deaths
brought upon by Covid-19, bring tons
of laughter and joy this holiday season.
Free those beset with unforgiving demons
and grant them spiritual serenity.
This Christmas, dear heavenly father,
pull the hopeless out of the bottomless abyss
so they see your bright shining light. Ensure
that the hungry have enough food to eat.
Give antidote to those poisoned with hate
I thank you for giving warmth to those
left out in the cold, literally and figuratively.
I thank you for giving sanctuary to those
who have lost their way, or have no place
to call home. I thank you, merciful father.

For my would•have•been diamond in the rough
I hope my love for you someday will be enough
If it's not, baby, it's all that I've got
Showing my heart mercy is what I ask the lot
'Cause my heartstrings are about to break
In this crazy - and maybe drastic - mistake
I've tried already - and I loved you way too late
If you're ready or not - all I can do is wait
Show me mercy when you proceed to break my black heart
Make us end like a professional masterpiece of art
'Cause the peaceful ending will be coming very soon...
Please save me from your uncertain doom
'Cause your heart for me no longer has anymore zoom
For my unwanted silhouette to loom
In the sad rejected energies of your pink & pillow-princess room
If you change your mind & suddenly want me - I may not be around
'Cause right now I'm in the foyér of another woman's stomping ground
In my piano chair she bought me, I sit and give a quick glance
To the girl who wouldn't ever give me a chance
Who coldly rejected my courageous & overly-infused romance
So if you change your mind and remember you want me
You'll have to find somebody else to set you on fire and free
'Cause right now someone else's delicate heart is tied up vulnerably to me
So please hold your tears if you decide to ever come along
I'm now dancing to another woman's beat & song
She's been good to me from my initial courageous & overly-infused romance
Because she never said no without first giving me the chance...
As she entered the building she uttered not a word
Sounds from the outside could no longer be heard
In this quaint structure were books of every shape and size
Some held mysteries, while others held surprises
The library was where she found her inner peace
Each book to her was a masterpiece
Where imagination and wonder never ceased
And the fires of her curiosity increased
With several books in hand, she took a seat
And lost herself in pages that entreat
The book on poetry was her favorite one
It was both inspirational and fun
She loved the metaphors and the rhymes
whose meaning were woven into the sublime
Upon her, these verses cast a spell
In this place of books, where silence dwells.
I have a great God who can do great things!
I choose great thoughts to see what it brings!
I paint my life in great, my thoughts are my brush.
A masterpiece takes time, so I will not rush.
Everyday for me is great! that's what I choose to see.
I expect God my Creator to make it reality!
He says it don't require great faith, just a mustard seed.
Trust in Him, not money because that leads to greed!
Everyday upon awakening I say "My Life Is Great!"
God will change something in me, I'll be patient and wait.
Trusting in Him makes me feel so good.
If anyone can do this, I guarantee you He could!
